Adventure Cows

by PapaCheech - Jam Entry

This is a game about farming. Kind of boring, really.
You farm. You spend time with your cows.
You love your cows.
And they love you.

Its too bad you decided to build your farm directly on top of a foreboding (yet talkative) pit. That wasn't too good of a choice.

It also wasn't the best choice to get attacked and murdered by a bunch of mustachioed robots. But that wasn't a choice. It was an inevitability.

Maybe you can save your cows.
Who knows.
Adventure cows!

I really like the concept, and am always up for a good game about cows. It was sometimes difficult to control which direction my head was shooting in, but I enjoyed growing my herd etc. :D

Reminds me of Farming Simulator... you know, because of the farming...

Rarely laughed so much because of a LD game :D

What fun! Wonderful little game. The cows leveling up (and giving you powers I think) is a neat touch, feels like farming. I like how responsive the cows are to the stuff you plant. The writing was one of the highlight for me, very droll and hilarious.

No constructive crits come to mind. The shade of blue of the main guy sort of rubs me the wrong way for some reason.. just a personal thing, dunno, I'm not an artist!

This was pretty fun and funny. The voice acting on the cows really make this game. The gameplay itself is nice, but some things like resources could be added (maybe the cows produce milk?) I enjoyed this regardless

Pretty fun. Can the cows die from getting shot? I didn't notice them getting hurt.

Haha some of the things the cow say are hilarious, awesome job! I also like how it tries to reassure you it's a farming game even though you can sue it out with the shooting controls it's not. Awesome job, I'd like to see it be developed on further!

Made it through nine waves! This is a really solid entry and I love the monster design--the sheer surrealness of all of it. I struggled with a lot of the gameplay, though... my walls seemed really ineffective and slow to build. A balance where I could build a little bit more of a fortress each time, rather than having my defenses totally obliterated with each (increasingly large) wave, would have been nice. Another minor gameplay tweak would be changing the player character slightly so that the antenna shot comes from closer to the center of the tile, since as-is I found myself missing a lot--it's a great visual design decision, but because players are usually so accustomed to shooting from the center of mass rather than the edge of the tile, it's pretty disorienting in the beginning of the game.

Other stuff I liked--the VA, the horrible moment when I noticed the eyeballs all around me, the simultaneous attachment to and disdain for my own livestock.

Thank you for the game!

Much fun farming simulator cow tower defense or what exactly the classification of this game should be. I'm not very good at that type of 4D aiming and not very good at the wave defense games either, so the fact that I managed to survive quite long (according to my book) and still feel challenged means it had a great difficulty progression. I didn't get much time over to feed or shelter the cows, but I suppose that was sort of the balance you were aiming at.

After a while I noticed that the cows had levels and that it actually mattered. So I would suggest having a clearer visual feedback on cow level up and at least for me it would have helped to give the player a breather by a short slow motion passage as that happened.

If I got it right, the cows would die if they got pushed out in that black void. If would have been nice with some animation for when that happened (maybe there was one but I was too focused on the remainder of my herd). And maybe hurting cows could have a "Moo" speech bubble or something to assist player in where the most pressing trouble is.

All in all a very nice game to play!

It would be nice to have a win condition instread of guaranteed loss with high score. Very difficult game. Very funny game though, and cute art.

Who knew having cows in space would be so much work! I Included it in part 8 of my Ludum Dare 31 compilation video series, if you would like to check it out :)

Dull farming game, maybe add some aliens that tru to steal the cows if I don't kill them in time? =)

Cool and interesting - I did hit a wave where I was stuck on the bottom row (could only move left and right) which cleared up the next wave. No other glitches.
