Escape the Bug Screen

by angela - Compo Entry

Racoons are bastards! They knocked you out and locked you in your bug screen, but you're smart enough to find your way out.

I tried to do something related to "one screen" that wasn't going to be done 1000 times. So I decided to do an entire game in one bug screen. I wish I'd had time to put in all the dialog and text tips, but I ran out of time. Got it in just under the wire. Hope you find it fun! :)

***UPDATE: Thanks for the feedback. I added a link to the source. I hope no one examines it too carefully, because, 40 hours in, sleep deprived and time panicked - all my variable names and debug statements started to get pretty.... colorful.

Brilliant use of the theme. Point-and-clicks are not naturally the most fun games, but you get big marks for nice graphics and overall creativity.

Firstly, you need source.
Secondly, the theme is used well in this game.
Thirdly, this is one of my fav's will finish it later!

The cup graphic wouldn't load for me the first time, which did stump me. Fortunately refreshing solved the issue.

This point and click didn't have me getting as mad as other ones do, though I did have to consult the walkthrough. I enjoyed this.

Not an easy one. Fortunetly, to combine object, you just have to move an object over another without releasing mouse button, so it helps.
Nice take on the theme.

Hi there. Nice point and click puzzler. Reminds me a bit of Grow although no animations. Managed to defeat the racoons and escape eventually... Shame no sounds... Parks & Rec. fan Pawnee vs. Racoons ? Good job!

I love adventure games! Good to play an entry that seems finished for a change. While I have to admit that burning strange looking coffee was not something I immediately thought of, there were not too many combinations to try out if you're stuck AND you included a walkthrough. Nice game :)

Don't worry about your source. I think we all have written some code that we are not proud of this weekend :)

TEAMS: Teams entering the Jam should pick a single representative to submit your game, or create a team specific account you can share. We currently do not support Team Voting, but sharing an account and together playing and rating games is acceptable.

NOT LOGGED IN?: If you get a message about not being logged in, even though you are, it’s because your web browser cached the non-logged in page. You can fix this by either refreshing your cache or clearing your cache. CTRL+F5 in many browsers. Chrome is a bit more work. Press F12 to enable Developer Mode, then you can right click on the refresh button and select “Empty Cache and Hard Reload”. This option is unavailable if you are not in Developer Mode.

PORTS: Ports to other platforms can be done after the deadline. That said, the sooner you finish your port, the sooner people can play your game, improving your chances of placing in the final results. For best results, provide a Web version of your game, or a Windows version with no dependencies. Also be sure to rate about 20 games to improve your visibility.

MY GAME DOESN’T SHOW UP: If you can’t find your game, it’s usually because the URL to your downloads are missing ‘http://‘. Fix your URLs ( and you will show up. Alternatively, if you just posted it, wait a minute. The cache may not have refreshed yet.

MY GAME CRASHES, IS UNBEATABLE, OR I MADE A TYPO: We allow you to fix crash or win condition bugs after the deadline (in a sense, like “porting” to support more players). We also allow “typo” bugs. I.e. A true that should have been a false, a word that should have been a different word, very tiny changes that you would have caught if you had more sleep. We leave this open to interpretation, but generally speaking your game should be identical to the game you submitted. No new features, just things you messed up last minute. Typos.
