Ludum Dare Builds A Snowman

by blay09 - Jam Entry

This game will let us all build a snowman together.

Seriously though, it's multiplayer, so if progress seems slow, that's because you're not supposed to build the snowman all by yourself!

By some high-end magical device, we are all connected to each other and share our money, upgrades and, most importantly, our snowman.

Everything you do in this game will be synchronized with all other players and you can even send little notes back and forth to plan your next step in your journey to build the most beautiful snowman Ludum Dare has ever seen.

Every three or more player there is a chance for a snowstorm to happen, which will significantly increase snow production rate, so that's where you should spam your mouse button / enter key harder.

Dont think the game is working. I am collecting snow, but nothing is happening when buying/selling or contributing to snow man.

Genius. Absolutely genius.

I should hope you'll keep working on it as a post-LD project. :P

The server issues are resolved and the game will work correctly now :)

My arm is now jelly, went for the triple click enter+return+left click strategy.

It was better when there was someone else playing with snowstorms etc.

Hopefully you can get some traction and get a lot of people playing at once, then it'll be pimping.

Nice one.

Didnt fully understand this I think. Kept collecting snow but never got more than the bottom and one arm. Looks really good though.

Great idea, I like making snowman with other people. :D
Reminds me that cookie collecting game. I had a great time with that, and having fun with this one right now. Well done!

Best game on LD. I don't care what anyone says any more. I love the concept and everything. Only thing I would change is to make it a bit longer and maybe make the snowman build slower and slower the more you build. Great job! :D

Cool Christmas game! Nice music, art and generally feeling! Our group built the snowman and maxed upgrades - though no victory happened. Would've been fun to have some kind of "ending". Enjoyed meeting the developer in the snowman chat! Thanks for the game and Merry Christmas!

Haha - pretty neat. Especially how it works with and without multi player. Couldn't figure out how to get rid of name overlay though - couldn't see my snowman's face :(

I don't know if I joined to a finished snowman but didn't feel thata was making anything. The idea is good but the game is a bit confusing.

Nice concept. We had fun playing it :)

TEAMS: Teams entering the Jam should pick a single representative to submit your game, or create a team specific account you can share. We currently do not support Team Voting, but sharing an account and together playing and rating games is acceptable.

NOT LOGGED IN?: If you get a message about not being logged in, even though you are, it’s because your web browser cached the non-logged in page. You can fix this by either refreshing your cache or clearing your cache. CTRL+F5 in many browsers. Chrome is a bit more work. Press F12 to enable Developer Mode, then you can right click on the refresh button and select “Empty Cache and Hard Reload”. This option is unavailable if you are not in Developer Mode.

PORTS: Ports to other platforms can be done after the deadline. That said, the sooner you finish your port, the sooner people can play your game, improving your chances of placing in the final results. For best results, provide a Web version of your game, or a Windows version with no dependencies. Also be sure to rate about 20 games to improve your visibility.

MY GAME DOESN’T SHOW UP: If you can’t find your game, it’s usually because the URL to your downloads are missing ‘http://‘. Fix your URLs (http://mysite.com/mygame.zip) and you will show up. Alternatively, if you just posted it, wait a minute. The cache may not have refreshed yet.

MY GAME CRASHES, IS UNBEATABLE, OR I MADE A TYPO: We allow you to fix crash or win condition bugs after the deadline (in a sense, like “porting” to support more players). We also allow “typo” bugs. I.e. A true that should have been a false, a word that should have been a different word, very tiny changes that you would have caught if you had more sleep. We leave this open to interpretation, but generally speaking your game should be identical to the game you submitted. No new features, just things you messed up last minute. Typos.
