I only managed to get 22 as my highscore :( oddly enough it bought back nostalgic feelings for snake on the nokia 3310! Nice submission, good job!

Aug 26, 2014 @ 4:33am

Congrats on your game! This is quite a fun and challenging game but I'm sure that it fits in with the theme of the jam so well. It took me a little while to get the hang of it but once I did I really enjoyed playing. Cheers, Ben.

Aug 26, 2014 @ 4:37am

Oh I forgot to say that my High Score was 31. :-D
And also that this game reminded me of "Frogger".

Aug 26, 2014 @ 8:43am

Impressive! The current comments record stands at 31 then! Thanks for the feedback guys, glad you enjoyed Link.

Great fun idea, feels really nostalgic somehow; i haven't managed to get too far score-wise, however :D

This is alot of fun, and you managed to create alot of depth with just a few "blocks". Nice job on the gameplay.

Unfortunately im getting an error when ever i die, the web plugin crashes and the sounds loop indefinitely.

A great little arcade game with beautiful pixel art! My only issue was that it crashed repeatedly (Chrome/OSX) and I ended up having to quit my browser to stop the sound from playing in the background, even after the tab with the game was closed.

Aug 26, 2014 @ 11:42am

Loved the graphics, music, and humor! Great job!

Aug 26, 2014 @ 12:00pm

Thanks everyone for your feedback! I think I know what the problem is with the crashing, we'll get right on it! Glad you enjoyed Link!

P.S. Remember to post your high scores! Lets see if you can beat the developers ;D

It made me think of snake too. I quite like this game, my highest score was 16 after about a dozen tries.

I see you have the grey guy as 'immune' and after seeing that I realise he's wearing armour. I actually thought he was a ninja assassinating the cops!

Aug 26, 2014 @ 3:20pm

Excellent game! A got a lot of fun playing this=)
Ps: my score is 29

Aug 26, 2014 @ 4:53pm

Haha Shiva that works fine too, a little bit aggressive for a bunch of people who just want to congregate but hey I don't have an explanation for the guys with the guns shooting at cops.

Thanks MonochromeBears! You were only two away from the current record in the comments!

I got to 20! It was a little hard to understand at first (even with the instructions) but once I figured it out I finally had some fun. Great concept and I love the music!

Aug 27, 2014 @ 5:50am

Great game! The core mechanic was simple enough that I was able to figure it out right away, and I had a ton of fun figuring out the best strategies for linking up with different people.

Aug 27, 2014 @ 5:51am

Holy crap this is FUN! I can't put it down!

29 is my best score, but I just want to keep playing. This is a major keeper for my LD30 folder.

Aug 27, 2014 @ 6:20am

@Squidtank Glad you had fun!

@ninjascript Which strategies did you end up with? I find a combination of an even square shape and a longer shape to be the best, depending on the placement of your people! But executing it is always way harder.

@ TehSkull Thanks for your kind words! A bit more and you might just beat the comment section record! (Currently stands at 31)

Wow - awesome entry.
That gameplay is addicting. So simple - so good.
Nice graphics - although the map could have used some more different tiles. The characters looked pretty funny. I liked them + the soundtrack is ace. Nice job - well done.

An idea which just works, I don't know if it hits the 'worlds' part of the theme much, but I don't think I care.

Feels almost like a souped up version of the legendary snake port on the motorola brick phone.

This concept could be developed in a bunch of ways and be great. Using a touch system, or heavier content(police rioting), more arcade-y. Nice job.

I think the downpoint for me was the readability, the scale of the viewport (although necessary for gameplay) and the style of the people (fun, but all similar silhouettes), in addition to the police siren effect and the tiled background made it a bit busy. I think just working on making the background and the characters separate more would be nice if you ever come back to it.

Thanks!

This is very creative and amusing! Fun game.

Aug 28, 2014 @ 5:49am

@teamrocketbear Thanks for the constructive feedback! Yeah we were trying to go for worlds in the metaphoric sense of a person's world. But it's a bit abstract.

@GAFBlizzard Thanks for the kind words!

27; I liked the pop sfx for connecting a new person and especially like how the camera zooms out/shakes when you connect people. The movement/step sfx was a bit harsh.

The bullet guy was very clear what his function was but I couldn't tell the other npcs functions without referencing this page. Maybe they could have some visual that represents their function.

Overall art style is consistent. I like the trucks and idle animations.

Music choice for menu is pleasant but the game music is a little jarring.

It was nice to have the police lanes so you can see where danger is, but if they spawn in at the sides it felt a little unfair. I guess it could be apart of the strategy to stay away from the sides.

Aug 28, 2014 @ 5:12pm

@Crefossus Yes! Someone who liked the camera shakes haha! Yeah we cycled through a lot of sfx, really struggled to find something which plays practically once every 1/4 seconds and isnt jarring. Thanks for the feedback!

Thank you for the game. I had fun playing for a good ten minutes!

Aug 31, 2014 @ 7:43am

High score: 63!

This is a fantastic entry on all levels. I'm bookmarking so I can keep playing on slow days post-jam. I've reviewed close to 100 games personally and this one is an outstanding favorite. The only thing I'd change is the menu theme, which doesn't really fit with the rest of the game well. Still--definitely one of my favorites. Thank you for the game!

Really nice idea, I love picking up fatties in my crowd. The art style is also really solid and I kind of like the music :)

Aug 31, 2014 @ 8:32am

@Victory Garden Congrats, you beat the highest score of 57! I'm glad you enjoyed the game! :D Also I agree with your point on the title screen, I wasn't able to spend a lot of time on the title screen and in result of that it was rushed. I will be working on updating the title screen along with adding a few other features to enhance the game if we happen to work on this game further :D Thank you for playing and bookmarking our game!

@hbocao Thanks! Credits have to go to Kevin MacLeod for the sound but glad you like the art.

@TKia_ Thanks, you're the second guy to like the camera shakes! haha makes me very happy.

@Yword Wow that's pretty damn good. Only 3 points away from the highscore. Glad you enjoyed the game!

Anyway, it's quite enjoyable :)

IMPORTANT NOTE: If you want to place in the final results, you NEED votes. The easiest way to get votes is by rating other games. Judging lasts for 3 weeks following the end of Ludum Dare. For best effect, rate 20 games as soon as possible. Rating more games is encouraged.

MORE TIPS AND DETAILS AT THE BOTTOM OF THIS PAGE

TEAMS: Teams entering the Jam should pick a single representative to submit your game, or create a team specific account you can share. We currently do not support Team Voting, but sharing an account and together playing and rating games is acceptable.

NOT LOGGED IN?: If you get a message about not being logged in, even though you are, it’s because your web browser cached the non-logged in page. You can fix this by either refreshing your cache or clearing your cache. CTRL+F5 in many browsers. Chrome is a bit more work. Press F12 to enable Developer Mode, then you can right click on the refresh button and select “Empty Cache and Hard Reload”. This option is unavailable if you are not in Developer Mode.

PORTS: Ports to other platforms can be done after the deadline. That said, the sooner you finish your port, the sooner people can play your game, improving your chances of placing in the final results. For best results, provide a Web version of your game, or a Windows version with no dependencies. Also be sure to rate about 20 games to improve your visibility.

MY GAME DOESN’T SHOW UP: If you can’t find your game, it’s usually because the URL to your downloads are missing ‘http://‘. Fix your URLs (http://mysite.com/mygame.zip) and you will show up.

MY GAME CRASHES, IS UNBEATABLE, OR I MADE A TYPO: We allow you to fix crash or win condition bugs after the deadline (in a sense, like “porting” to support more players). We also allow “typo” bugs. I.e. A true that should have been a false, a word that should have been a different word, very tiny changes that you would have caught if you had more sleep. We leave this open to interpretation, but generally speaking your game should be identical to the game you submitted. No new features, just things you messed up last minute. Typos.
