by ColdSteam - 48 Hour Compo Entry

This was made with the Unity 4.6 Beta so I had to do some tricky stuff with the web player meaning that it isn't actually a web player.

For those using the web player the instruction page was wrecked(I really have no idea), So as a precaution they are also explained below.

You are ghost moving forward as you try to ascend to the surface. Your goal is to avoid the obstacles using the left and right arrow keys. As you go forward randomly steam vents will appear Lighter ones will bring you up a level while darker ones will bring you down a level, the difference in color is small so look carefully. Will you be able to regain your life?

Hi. As you say, webplayer version does not run in browser so not tested... I think you can put up a beta- published game, others have been.

Background sound and character art are very weird! But you achieved some nice overall work and everything is working well so, good job! The small beam of vision from the light we carry is a nice touch. Magic bubbles which transport you to another world could be balanced a bit : (1) The first one is too far from the start and I got a little bored in the first area because it's super easy. (2) On he other hand they appear so quickly in the later areas that I barely have to avoid 3 obstacle and I can already escape to another world. That ruins a bit the difficulty. (3) Finally I don't understand why you made a random transport? I would be clearer if it would transport you one world further each time, increasing the difficulty at each step, and then you reach the end of the game. Or could add a tricky transporter with downwards bubbles which would transport you back in the last level :) Just some thoughts!

PS : I didn't see it was a 48h compo, I thought it was a jam. So, it's even more well done ^^

Not a lot going on with long-term goals, but the brain can't help but wonder at the thematic connection between the worlds. Very interesting, which to me is a Ludum Dare achievement. :)

IMPORTANT NOTE: If you want to place in the final results, you NEED votes. The easiest way to get votes is by rating other games. Judging lasts for 3 weeks following the end of Ludum Dare. For best effect, rate 20 games as soon as possible. Rating more games is encouraged.

TEAMS: Teams entering the Jam should pick a single representative to submit your game, or create a team specific account you can share. We currently do not support Team Voting, but sharing an account and together playing and rating games is acceptable.

NOT LOGGED IN?: If you get a message about not being logged in, even though you are, it’s because your web browser cached the non-logged in page. You can fix this by either refreshing your cache or clearing your cache. CTRL+F5 in many browsers. Chrome is a bit more work. Press F12 to enable Developer Mode, then you can right click on the refresh button and select “Empty Cache and Hard Reload”. This option is unavailable if you are not in Developer Mode.

PORTS: Ports to other platforms can be done after the deadline. That said, the sooner you finish your port, the sooner people can play your game, improving your chances of placing in the final results. For best results, provide a Web version of your game, or a Windows version with no dependencies. Also be sure to rate about 20 games to improve your visibility.

MY GAME DOESN’T SHOW UP: If you can’t find your game, it’s usually because the URL to your downloads are missing ‘http://‘. Fix your URLs ( and you will show up.

MY GAME CRASHES, IS UNBEATABLE, OR I MADE A TYPO: We allow you to fix crash or win condition bugs after the deadline (in a sense, like “porting” to support more players). We also allow “typo” bugs. I.e. A true that should have been a false, a word that should have been a different word, very tiny changes that you would have caught if you had more sleep. We leave this open to interpretation, but generally speaking your game should be identical to the game you submitted. No new features, just things you messed up last minute. Typos.
