Wood Cutter Extreme!

by foodzilla - Jam Entry

Wood Cutter Extreme! ...The name is terrible, but the game has potential? :D

Get as high a score as you can... any way you can! The more log you slice, the more points you score. And the larger logs you get, the higher points they're worth!

Gameplay varies a lot based on difficulty; play on easy for max maneuverability, or hard for a real difficult challenge...

Control is with arrow keys, and you can submerge with SPACE... cutting wood is as simple as hitting it on the long side, but beware! You can hurt yourself, especially on rocks...

So cut your way to victory!

Language: HTML5 & JavaScript
Tools: Unitron, Chrome

note: those first numbers on the logs/rocks are debug values that snuck in there. Since apparently you can debug after the limit, I tweaked the code lightly to fix that and one other bug...

Well... beyond a couple bugs and the debugging numbers being left in... and the rather mess of the last area, it's not that bad? :D It does interesting things to you depending on how you play it...

The player movement could have been a little faster up and down, and some it certainly could have had a more intuitive interface explaining what exactly the onscreen numbers are for. For debug? A game mechanic? It is a mystery.

Well, it looks like it could be good fun with more time, some graphics, sounds and everything. :)

So I'm a saw floating in water scraping bark of logs?
Must be the weirdest one yet.
I like the usage of theme where I float under the water.

The debug numbers confused me. It's not bad, though.

It's a real dumb mistake on my part, I meant to remove those when I submitted and ran out of time to change it...

Graphic seems little too simple(not a big fan of plain background) Didn't know what to do with those round objects.

Interesting game. Some more work on the graphics and the audio, and this could be a very nice game. Good work.

Seems like an original idea, but I find it boring really quickly.

This was an interesting concept. I should always read the description before I play a game. I had no idea I could go under the water!

IMPORTANT NOTE: If you want to place in the final results, you NEED votes. The easiest way to get votes is by rating other games. Judging lasts for 3 weeks following the end of Ludum Dare. For best effect, rate 20 games as soon as possible. Rating more games is encouraged.

TEAMS: Teams entering the Jam should pick a single representative to submit your game, or create a team specific account you can share. We currently do not support Team Voting, but sharing an account and together playing and rating games is acceptable.

NOT LOGGED IN?: If you get a message about not being logged in, even though you are, it’s because your web browser cached the non-logged in page. You can fix this by either refreshing your cache or clearing your cache. CTRL+F5 in many browsers. Chrome is a bit more work. Press F12 to enable Developer Mode, then you can right click on the refresh button and select “Empty Cache and Hard Reload”. This option is unavailable if you are not in Developer Mode.

PORTS: Ports to other platforms can be done after the deadline. That said, the sooner you finish your port, the sooner people can play your game, improving your chances of placing in the final results. For best results, provide a Web version of your game, or a Windows version with no dependencies. Also be sure to rate about 20 games to improve your visibility.

MY GAME DOESN’T SHOW UP: If you can’t find your game, it’s usually because the URL to your downloads are missing ‘http://‘. Fix your URLs ( and you will show up.

MY GAME CRASHES, IS UNBEATABLE, OR I MADE A TYPO: We allow you to fix crash or win condition bugs after the deadline (in a sense, like “porting” to support more players). We also allow “typo” bugs. I.e. A true that should have been a false, a word that should have been a different word, very tiny changes that you would have caught if you had more sleep. We leave this open to interpretation, but generally speaking your game should be identical to the game you submitted. No new features, just things you messed up last minute. Typos.
