Artsy exporation game.

The game looks really good. Like tremendously. The particles , the style is great. Movement is a little to hard to work with. The biggest gripe I have with the game though is the fact that it was not intuitive what the game was about. I understand it was a puzzle game of sorts, but it still was too hard because it wasn't responsive enough. For instance, the platform takes too long to raise so I had no idea what to do. Kinda don't see how the game follows the theme too much.
Very pretty game. I was ready to give up at the elevator until I came back and read the comments.
@lolninjacatz Thank for the kind comments... I agree with you on the movement.. I had a huge problem getting Gamesalad (ugh) to work when I exported to HTML 5 and I had to remove some of the friction of the movement... so its kinda like the robot is on ice... :( And the game looks so much better in 720p... GameSalad doesn't let you export HTML5 to anything bigger than 420.
@jugglerrob Yeah... I kept putting off fixing the elevator, then it was too late to fix it for good :(
I love the art style, an incredibly stylish game for sure.
@lekochen, Yeah its GameSalad.... their web player is kinda garbage... I'm going to polish it up and try to get it onto iPad and iPhone for free in the next month or so.
@spotline - Yeah... :( I really regret that the most... I just ran out of time... My plan was to work on sound the last hour... but I ran into some problems with how the game worked.. so I lost that time.
I loved the artwork, the game is very beautiful, but I think the level in completely anti-intuitive. With an improvement in gameplay, I would love to spend some hours playing this. =)
@renatopp - Thank you for commenting... yeah I would have to agree with you about being intuitive... I tried to make visual clues about what to do in the game... but you can't really see them when it shrinks the game to 480. I originally build it to be 720p... Its really hard to tell that the robots eye changes color between the blue and the green... and also the arrows are almost invisible. Thanks for playing though :)
I agree with the comments on tricky movement but the game is really nice to look at :) great work. I see from your comments that you ran out of time for sound. I think this game is worth spending the time to add a bit of sound "post event" for completion and sharing.
@designernap Yeah... I already am thinking about working more on it... I really like the direction it ended up going in... I feel like there is a bigger story going on here with the robot... or robots...? :)
I did as most, slided around and had a bit of control-issues. Got up the elevator and went both direction (a bit annoying to not be able to jump across and have to go down to pick a new elevator).
Btw you could have instant spawn of elevator without any serious delay as one could just jump off if need be.
The graphics was nice, didn't solve the first puzzle of the lights in any way I noticed. So an easy introduction to the rgb-components and how the different aspects of the game works before presenting puzzles that has effects outside view (if I understand it the screen-shots correctly).
With some polish, this could become very nice.
So I was reading up on the rules about fixing bugs and I might go back in and fix the slippery movement. It was not originally made this way. When I uploaded the game to GameSalads servers there was a problem with the movement of the robot and I thought it had something to do with the friction settings of the robot and the floor...so I made them both zero, this didn't fix the problem.. but I never changed it back. I will update the friction settings to the original settings before I fixed that bug and hopefully the controls will not be so bad.
It's pretty simple, but exploring the area was still interesting, especially with how all of the colors worked with the elevator. The only real problems i have with it is the movement, which seems to have already been mentioned. The ending and the graphics in general were very nice, good work~
I liked the art, it's very polished.
I would prefer a game with more gameplay and better controls (the acceleration is slow and it slides too much).
Beautiful visuals, decent but floaty controls, but no sound. The last part really killed me, even just some simple ambiance would have made me enjoy it way more. Really fantastic job on the visuals though.
Absolutely beautiful game. Making the controls a bit more responsive and some background music would make this really close to a complete game.
This has a lot of potential and awesome graphics. With some good music and sfx it will be really immersive. I think you should continue to work on it! Some in game help texts + elevator activation animation would have helped getting started :) I stared at the start screen for a good minute thinking it was a loader screen. Also it was not clear that I could enter the tunnels when the elevator had stopped - restarted the game because I thought it had crashed.
The gameplay was too slow that breaks the immersion, but the graphics were superb.
Incredibly pretty.
Didn't hear any sound, but could really have done with some (or some other extra feedback) to help flag to the player that they've done something that made a difference.
Thank you everyone for the comments and the insight into my little game. This is my first Ludum Dare so all of it is invaluable to me. I am going to keep working on the game and see if I can get it more polished and then put it out on iPad for free... I feel like the game looks so much better on a large screen. I started working on sound lastnight... because I do feel like that is a huge part of any game... Thanks everyone again.
Visually very very very pleasing! Remember to add source as this is a compo entry :)
Success! I didn't think I could beat it. I DO feel good about myself.
Dat art! I had a hard time figuring out what to do, maybe some more visual/audio cues will help.
Neat graphics, but I expected more story and reasons to keep playing.
Visually wonderful, but the controls need not be so slippery and floaty. Was music intended? The atmosphere could be even better with the appropriate music and some gentle bubbling sound effects~
Impressive design! Too bad controls are that sluggish... And I think I didn't get the point of the game but nice experience!
As far as graphics go, this game is #1 for me. Love love love trixel art and you pulled it off amazingly.
amazing graphics, amazing mood, wow! I wish the platforming was a little more responsive, but that may just be me! Good job!!
Nice game!
I love the graphical style :)
Could have done with a bit of sound, though...
Very very pretty, but I could not figure out what to do at all. I tried standing underneath all the lights for a while but nothing seemed to happen. It was really slow and kinda hard to control.
Really liked the style of the game, nice use of colour and simple art style gave the game a very stylish feel. Liked the colour puzzle and slower pace but felt there could have been more depth or harder puzzles. Really enjoyed it though.
Very nice graphics, but no audio whatsoever... The game could also use some intuition, because making the player figure out the controls is not as simple with a keyboard and mouse as it is with a game controller. still, good job :)
I normally wouldn't rate you in the audio category, but here I really felt lack of sound. It's a shame really, even if the "hero" doesn't look like anything more than a bunch of triangle, the graphics in this game are great and create a nice and unique ambiance. Sounds would have helped a lot

IMPORTANT NOTE: If you want to place in the final results, you NEED votes. The easiest way to get votes is by rating other games. Judging lasts for 3 weeks following the end of Ludum Dare. For best effect, rate 20 games as soon as possible. Rating more games is encouraged.
MORE TIPS AND DETAILS AT THE BOTTOM OF THIS PAGE
TEAMS: Teams entering the Jam should pick a single representative to submit your game, or create a team specific account you can share. We currently do not support Team Voting, but sharing an account and together playing and rating games is acceptable.
NOT LOGGED IN?: If you get a message about not being logged in, even though you are, it’s because your web browser cached the non-logged in page. You can fix this by either refreshing your cache or clearing your cache. CTRL+F5 in many browsers. Chrome is a bit more work. Press F12 to enable Developer Mode, then you can right click on the refresh button and select “Empty Cache and Hard Reload”. This option is unavailable if you are not in Developer Mode.
PORTS: Ports to other platforms can be done after the deadline. That said, the sooner you finish your port, the sooner people can play your game, improving your chances of placing in the final results. For best results, provide a Web version of your game, or a Windows version with no dependencies. Also be sure to rate about 20 games to improve your visibility.
MY GAME DOESN’T SHOW UP: If you can’t find your game, it’s usually because the URL to your downloads are missing ‘http://‘. Fix your URLs (http://mysite.com/mygame.zip) and you will show up.
MY GAME CRASHES, IS UNBEATABLE, OR I MADE A TYPO: We allow you to fix crash or win condition bugs after the deadline (in a sense, like “porting” to support more players). We also allow “typo” bugs. I.e. A true that should have been a false, a word that should have been a different word, very tiny changes that you would have caught if you had more sleep. We leave this open to interpretation, but generally speaking your game should be identical to the game you submitted. No new features, just things you messed up last minute. Typos.
The elevator..... The elevator will spawn if you stand on the platform for 3 seconds... the elevators will disappear after 30 seconds.... ran out of time to make a better system.
