This is my first Ludum Dare Compo! I took the theme literally and made a videogame about chemistry (because beneath every single surface there is nothing more than molecules and atoms). It is intended to have a sense of progression like mario or candy crush but I didn't have time to implement that, so instead you have the levels one after another.
To play just click the valences and make oxides!
PD: There are 3 levels, it "ends" on the calcium one.
If you don't mind answering in the comments:
-Did yoy feel you learned something with this game?
Thank you!

Great concept! The music overlapping wasn't good, but didn't stop me playing!
I got to the third level, but couldn't figure out what to do next. The only thing I found I could make are Na2O and CaO but the game did not like that. Also, had a problem with the audio where each level would play a new song, but didn't stop the song from the previous level so you would here several songs playing at once.
I got through a couple stages but then had a stage with 1 calcium, 2 oxygens, and 2 sodiums, but whenever i connected them in any fashion it just reset...
I didn't really understand what I was trying to do, but it was definitely outside the box.
Neat concept. Seems like the music might be bugged. It sounded like multiple versions of it were playing simultaneously. I got stuck on the third level. I tried multiple different combos but none seemed to work. I'm not sure why I can't combine some elements other than, well, you know, science. Would be cool if the combinable chemicals were different colors (like Oxygen being red) to make it more obvious what moves are available.
The music is awful I know, it's the first "track" i've ever made and did it literally half an hour before end time. Interesting the overlapping comment, I didn't test it, thank you for letting me know.
It just has 3 levels, I missed that on the explanation, so it "ends" on the calcium one for now.
Cool game! The music overlapped and kind of hurt my ears, but this game is still really cool! Too bad I suck at science :)
This has potential. Could become a smart phone hit it you polish it up :D
Cool idea for visualizing ionic bonds, but the music overlaps itself and becomes terrible
Nice idea, I wish I did pay more attention to chemistry in school though xD. You will get the most points for innovation!
Could definitely use more levels, but it is an interesting idea.
Nice concept. A bit more explanation and this could be really good. (I got lost an Level 3 -.-)
No, you didn't haha there are just 3 levels, I definitely should have added an extra screen to let people know. Thank you so much for your comments!
If you could please answer this: Do you think you learned something?
This is a really clever usage of the theme and I absolutely love how you've represented valances. I took a (single) chemistry class in college, so I didn't necessarily /learn/ anything new. However, this game has a lot of potential on a conceptual level. Nice job!
I couldn't get it to run on firefox or Chromium :-( I just get a black screen. What are you using to make this?
Hey! No me salio nada de música :(
Me gusta el concepto, felicidades con la buena recepción que has tenido :)
P.D.: Tus gráficas no son tan feitas
I did the last level like five times wondering what I was doing wrong, haha.
I tried on Chrome and Firefox but no audio on two different device for me.
The concept was good but had greater potential. Like for example implementing energy required to create certain compounds. Thumbs up for a good attempt at a mixing of learning and fun :)
Watch more here on how to make the two fuse together and other great deal of wonderful knowledge on games :)

Neat game, I always like seeing educational games show up during Ludum Dare. I liked the way this one explained what the connections meant. I wish their had been more.
Didn't get any audio either. Not too engaging at the moment either, because the gameplay is so simple. Sadly, I did not feel like I learned anything. Should've gone even more beneath the surface and used elementary particles http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/0/00/Standard_Model_of_Elementary_Particles.svg ;).
Good job finishing something for your first Compo!

Thank you so much for your replies! :D They have been really really helpful.

IMPORTANT NOTE: If you want to place in the final results, you NEED votes. The easiest way to get votes is by rating other games. Judging lasts for 3 weeks following the end of Ludum Dare. For best effect, rate 20 games as soon as possible. Rating more games is encouraged.
MORE TIPS AND DETAILS AT THE BOTTOM OF THIS PAGE
TEAMS: Teams entering the Jam should pick a single representative to submit your game, or create a team specific account you can share. We currently do not support Team Voting, but sharing an account and together playing and rating games is acceptable.
NOT LOGGED IN?: If you get a message about not being logged in, even though you are, it’s because your web browser cached the non-logged in page. You can fix this by either refreshing your cache or clearing your cache. CTRL+F5 in many browsers. Chrome is a bit more work. Press F12 to enable Developer Mode, then you can right click on the refresh button and select “Empty Cache and Hard Reload”. This option is unavailable if you are not in Developer Mode.
PORTS: Ports to other platforms can be done after the deadline. That said, the sooner you finish your port, the sooner people can play your game, improving your chances of placing in the final results. For best results, provide a Web version of your game, or a Windows version with no dependencies. Also be sure to rate about 20 games to improve your visibility.
MY GAME DOESN’T SHOW UP: If you can’t find your game, it’s usually because the URL to your downloads are missing ‘http://‘. Fix your URLs (http://mysite.com/mygame.zip) and you will show up.
MY GAME CRASHES, IS UNBEATABLE, OR I MADE A TYPO: We allow you to fix crash or win condition bugs after the deadline (in a sense, like “porting” to support more players). We also allow “typo” bugs. I.e. A true that should have been a false, a word that should have been a different word, very tiny changes that you would have caught if you had more sleep. We leave this open to interpretation, but generally speaking your game should be identical to the game you submitted. No new features, just things you messed up last minute. Typos.
I love the idea and enjoyed the game, but had to turn of the music ;)
