I liked the idea. Only issue is it relies too much on luck. You can easily get cornered with no way to get out. Would be nice the add some fertilizer to collect on the road, so you can then use them boost the growth and get out of these corners.

I liked your game, it's catchy, simple and efficient ! I thought the root was going a little bit too slow, but I guess that's the reason why there is so many things in the way !

Hey I made a root game too - The graphic are simple, organic and pleasing. As other have mentioned, there doesn't seem to be much beyond, well, growing. The rock placement is a little random; sometimes you see that you've been trapped by the environment pretty early up on the screen, but can't do anything to react to it. But the control and movement feels good so I think you've got a good base if you wanted to expand and add some complexity. Highscore 51.

54 pts. I'd also like to see this expanded upon! The graphics were clean and your rocks actually looked quite good and diverse--but I agree that there's a frequent sense of inevitability (a longer field of vision might help?). On the bright side, your collision detection is excellent! I tried some pretty risky maneuvers to test it out. Well done.

I've played a few "endless falling" games for LD29, and this one was probably the easiest of the bunch. Something to escalate challenge as you go deeper would help keep things interesting. I found that the color contrast between rocks and dirt was extremely close, and that made it hard to distinguish. Also, I don't know if it was really happening, or just an optical illusion, but it felt like the colors got very gradually, subtly darker as I descended, AND the rocks felt like they were inching closer together as I approached gaps. If that isn't actually happening, it's an interesting psychological phenomenon.

TEAMS: Teams entering the Jam should pick a single representative to submit your game, or create a team specific account you can share. We currently do not support Team Voting, but sharing an account and together playing and rating games is acceptable.

NOT LOGGED IN?: If you get a message about not being logged in, even though you are, it’s because your web browser cached the non-logged in page. You can fix this by either refreshing your cache or clearing your cache. CTRL+F5 in many browsers. Chrome is a bit more work. Press F12 to enable Developer Mode, then you can right click on the refresh button and select “Empty Cache and Hard Reload”. This option is unavailable if you are not in Developer Mode.

PORTS: Ports to other platforms can be done after the deadline. That said, the sooner you finish your port, the sooner people can play your game, improving your chances of placing in the final results. For best results, provide a Web version of your game, or a Windows version with no dependencies. Also be sure to rate about 20 games to improve your visibility.

MY GAME DOESN’T SHOW UP: If you can’t find your game, it’s usually because the URL to your downloads are missing ‘http://‘. Fix your URLs ( and you will show up.

MY GAME CRASHES, IS UNBEATABLE, OR I MADE A TYPO: We allow you to fix crash or win condition bugs after the deadline (in a sense, like “porting” to support more players). We also allow “typo” bugs. I.e. A true that should have been a false, a word that should have been a different word, very tiny changes that you would have caught if you had more sleep. We leave this open to interpretation, but generally speaking your game should be identical to the game you submitted. No new features, just things you messed up last minute. Typos.
