Very solid entry! It was fun from begin to start. Good ending too.
A lot of levels. Great little game. Ending was cool. Yeah basically what Dir3kt said: a solid entry ;) well done
I really got into this one. Nice graphics and the controls are tight. Good Job.
Bouncy piano music seemed out of place, but speeding it up was effective. Nifty graphics, interesting premise. I got a bug where when I died it seemed to leave a section of ladder instead of a corpse sprite.
Some levels were so hard :S Especially the bats, they were annoying and didn't even die from lava, those are some really strong bats. There were a few minor bugs like the dead player sprite getting replaced by a ladder and the controls felt a bit stiff and slow. Had fun playing this, though. Good jab with the graphics and music!

Great job on the level design. I liked the levels with buttons a lot.
Those bats are terrible.
+ good, responsive controls
+ fun to play
+ many levels
+ good graphics
- bats move randomly, which is somewhat annoying
Fun platforming and good ending. Bats could be a pain, depending on their starting points I could tell whether a run through a screen was going to go badly or not.
Thanks for all the comments. =D
I'm somewhat aware of that bug when the player dies... but I couldn't figure out why that happens. The same thing can (occasionally) be seen with the sparkle from the button.
And there's some logic to the bats movements. They have three states: wander (erm... move randomly xD), fly upward and ram at the player.
With practice they can be avoided most of the time, but I know that they can be quite a pain. (especially when they do not move how you want when wandering...)
Some of the jumps had to be so perfect, I found it a little tough to get through some levels, I kept trying to double jump even though I know it wouldn't work. The controls and platforming were spot on though, and I love the look of it
very cool game. didn't like the music. other than that very nice little game. loved it!
Nice game, cute art! I found the character movement a bit slow, but I enjoyed this little platformer!
Hate all these jumping from ladder to ladder... and why I cannot kill both of prisoners?
Nice art, enjoyable gameplay. Good job on this solid entry :). The player was moving a bit slow but somehow it felt appropriate.
Awesome entry!! You got a very solid game there! Loved the art, the levels, and the difficulty ramp was very fleshed out for a 72 hour game. Wait, you did it in 48? Holy shit!
Liked the art style - found the ladders and the jump a little taxing, felt random in places, like you were supposed to be able to make a jump, but just fell short. I was hoping I could use my corpse as a platform to jump higher, but sadly no. :(
Finished it! Was hard, I became very good at dodging bats at the end, and by the way, "risky" use of the theme, I liked it!
Tight controls, good graphics, interesting audio, a LOT of well designed levels... Very good entry.
Good Job
The bats were too unpredictable, otherwise the platforming was good. Though I would have expected to be able to stand on the top of ladders.
The ending seemed a bit weird, since it was possible to activate both buttons (and see the bridges start to roll out), but then after a couple of seconds or so the cinematic starts and the second bridge disappears.
@SecondDimension: and I even tried to ease that adding a few (4, I think) frames after leaving a platform when you would still be able to jump... xD
@tobbez: How did you do that? @__@
I was pretty sure it was impossible two activate both buttons... I even tested frame-by-frame to be sure! Did I break anything at the last second...? I'll to check that out later, thanks!
Oh, about the ladders... I thought about a way to fix that after implementing it, but so many things broke because of this fix that I just left it that way... =X
Again, thanks a lot for each and every comment! I'll gt back to playing (and commenting) your games... sometime later! =D
@JohnnySix: At first, each time you died a new corpse spawned. But the level became too poluted and I decided to keep only one. If I can think of a good reason to allow that (keeping level design and story in mind), I may do that! :)
Still... not all that likely. =X (maybe for a easy mode... who knows...)
But I'll definitely consider it!!
Niceeeee! I liked the mood, grapchics and audio very much. Had a lot of fun playing this. I only really want to know if and how it's possible to save both.
GOOOOD JOB!
@Eddy93: I'm sorry but it's not (yet?) possible to save both of them... :(
It's a planned ending, if I make a post compo version. (I'll provably do, someday!)
@GFM
Don't think I did anything special. Just pushed the right button, then the left one.
And the ladders not being walkable wasn't really a big issue, it was just a bit surprising the first time you noticed.
Re: your comment on my game (posted here because otherwise you'd never see it... this site needs better reply-notify capabilities). No audio played? Do you normally get audio with Love2d based games? The filetype is ogg. What OS are you using? Also you hit on it exactly--I set up the mouse controls the way I did with the intention of making a game that would work well on a tablet. A mouse is a poor replacement for touching the screen, but it works decently for a prototype.
And as to your game...
I got a bug where when I died it used a ladder sprite instead of the normal sprite. It was a bit annoying to me that I couldn't stand on top of the ladders (and so I fell back down the ladder a bunch of times right when i reached the top), but for some reason the sound and movement really made me think of how the 2d portions worked in Link's Awakening. The bat enemies are really fun and the platforming has some nice action to it. I'm not sure how the theme integrates, but everything else is very solid. Well done.
I kept playing and I've got to post again to say I'm very impressed with your sense for good action-platforming. Really fun. Polish it up, and release it! If it was on Steam I'd buy it. :)
Hey, really excellent level design and unique graphic! This game deserves to be expanded!! :D
Love the aesthetic and controls! Very challenging. Maybe I'm not very good, but many of those levels I wasn't able to complete after 20 tries or so.
Quite impressive game :)
I was just wondering, first, when I died, there was a dead body (which is nice). But second time I died, there was a part of a ladder. :/ Anyway, great entry!
Nicely done! Fun platforming, with difficult but doable levels. Ran into a few graphical glitches where after I died it would draw a ladder where my dead body was supposed to be. Otherwise a very polished entry!
Very polished game!
My only problem is that you barely reach the stairs with the jumps so you have to be very precise, sometimes it makes it looks like the jump is impossible and I have to do something else before.
Other than that, GREAT graphics and music.
Amazing job!
I got stuck in level 5. Could not make the jump to the second ladder. I got too frustrated to continue.
The game look solid and well-presented, only the ladder mechanics are fiddly.
Wow, very good job making this game! I like the style and the music. The platformer physics feel good, but these bats are soooo annoying :D
I liked retro graphics. I like how passable it is but I did not pass it -_- Still job well done. Though I did not get how you used theme -_-
Still liked it a lot :)
Really great mood! I liked the graphics quite a bit, although staring at it for prolonged periods of time made all the little lines a bit twitchy for me. (I think it may just be me. :S) The jump precision is a bit precise, and it got frustrating for me to keep trying to clear jumps. But it was nice overall. :)
Awesome game. The art is pretty charming, and the level design is amazing. I felt myself always challenged a little bit more, and wanting to try again!
I found a bug where sometimes the adventurer's corpse would become a sideways ladder.

IMPORTANT NOTE: If you want to place in the final results, you NEED votes. The easiest way to get votes is by rating other games. Judging lasts for 3 weeks following the end of Ludum Dare. For best effect, rate 20 games as soon as possible. Rating more games is encouraged.
MORE TIPS AND DETAILS AT THE BOTTOM OF THIS PAGE
TEAMS: Teams entering the Jam should pick a single representative to submit your game, or create a team specific account you can share. We currently do not support Team Voting, but sharing an account and together playing and rating games is acceptable.
NOT LOGGED IN?: If you get a message about not being logged in, even though you are, it’s because your web browser cached the non-logged in page. You can fix this by either refreshing your cache or clearing your cache. CTRL+F5 in many browsers. Chrome is a bit more work. Press F12 to enable Developer Mode, then you can right click on the refresh button and select “Empty Cache and Hard Reload”. This option is unavailable if you are not in Developer Mode.
PORTS: Ports to other platforms can be done after the deadline. That said, the sooner you finish your port, the sooner people can play your game, improving your chances of placing in the final results. For best results, provide a Web version of your game, or a Windows version with no dependencies. Also be sure to rate about 20 games to improve your visibility.
MY GAME DOESN’T SHOW UP: If you can’t find your game, it’s usually because the URL to your downloads are missing ‘http://‘. Fix your URLs (http://mysite.com/mygame.zip) and you will show up.
MY GAME CRASHES, IS UNBEATABLE, OR I MADE A TYPO: We allow you to fix crash or win condition bugs after the deadline (in a sense, like “porting” to support more players). We also allow “typo” bugs. I.e. A true that should have been a false, a word that should have been a different word, very tiny changes that you would have caught if you had more sleep. We leave this open to interpretation, but generally speaking your game should be identical to the game you submitted. No new features, just things you messed up last minute. Typos.
Very moody, and fun to play! :)
