I think this game was well-scoped for the competition. It was small enough that you were able to focus on the art and sound, and the couple puzzles you made were fun to play. I enjoyed the comic-style cut scenes and the humor.
Charming graphics. Somewhat unfortunate that the ending was rushed… I was amused by the placeholder "I'm using it" text on the extra objects though.
Love the graphics and the gameplay. But this is true that the game is a little buggy
Amazing graphics and the gameplay was surprisingy fun. I'd like to see more chapters. (I did get stuck back outside though...)
Looks fantastic! Beaver was well animated and modeled. Fun little point-and-click,
Game is fun and looks very good.
I couldn't get to the end since I didn't know what to do once I was in the house. Also there was no clear goal to what I should do.
As it is unclear, the goal of the game is not to die from the cold :D ... We think more hint could ruin the gameplay ... you could ask question on twitter for example ...
Loved the visuals. The Game looks well designed. I didnt get very far though.
Good job with the art and sounds! Both the hand-drawn art and the 3D models are really good for such a short timeframe. This is a nice little game. I died at the end, though, before without a lot of foreshadowing.
I completed it! Was a little buggy, but art was fantastic for such a short time, nice one!
Great art style! I was disappointed that the story is so sad and short, but now I see a screenshot from inside a house and I guess I've missed something. Will try playing some more!
I like the style, and the audio. I can feel the coldness of the winter. I'm not sure to understand how it's related to the theme however. But it's a good work!
Ahaha, this bear looks like gaint beaver! Fantastic art ;) SWWAAAG
Wonderful 3D art. I wasn't so crazy about the comic scenes telling the story but it would've been a nightmare to have to cram all of that same stuff into the actual game engine via animations/coding/etc, so I totally get why it was done. And it's not that the comic art was bad or anything, it's just that the 3D models and environment are so satisfying that you just want to exist entirely in that world and the comics kind of pull you out of it. It's less of a knock on the comics and more praise for the 3D work.
I was able to solve the puzzle after a few tries. Good job of throwing in some curve balls to make the 'obvious' solution not so straight forward.
Great entry!
Great visuals, and I think the comics were actually a nice touch. I got the log safely inside next to the shelf, but I couldn't climb up to the matches.
really amazing drawings and graphics. i love the drawings the most, really great style.
I really love the art. The game is short but I like the humor :)
Wow an really nice adventure game. Consistent great graphics (esp. the comics are nice!) and good theme Idea. You also choose a good setting for christmas time. You get full humor point :)
Nice adventure game! There was a bug though, after you fall from the roof, you can go back outside and repeat the fall. If you put get the log inside the house before you fall the second time, all log-related puzzles inside won't work.
Hey, thanks for your comment!
But I can't play your game, because the Unity web player is not available for Ubuntu. It would help a lot if you could make a Linux Export (Unity has that option), thanks!
Fantastic graphics and animations but the game felt unfinished at times! Would make a great iPad game for children.
One of the best artwork I've seen in LD28.
Nice puzzle. But even when I got how to solve it, I still had to retry a few times because of some bugs.
The ending was really good.
Fantastic art. Never figured out how to not die though. Two comments. When the intro drawings explaining the scenario are showing one can actually play and pick up the snow etc. The different drawings pass by rather quickly. It would have been nicer if one got to click in the lower left corner or something similar. In total though, really beautiful little point and click adventure!
Thanks for the Linux binary!!
The animation for Beaver felt really fluid and good, I loved it! The graphics of the game, and the storyline in general felt fun too.
There were a few bugs though: for example, the "story" image did not scale to the screen resolution, so for certain resolutions the story image would be partially covered, or not cover the entire image.
Also, if you left the house and returned before picking up the matches, it becomes impossible to use the log to pick up the matches (clicking the log on the shelf does nothing).
Cheers, and thanks for the beautiful game!
I couldnt figure out what to do, but the game itself was so cute!! I included this game in my Ludum Dare 28 compilation video, if you'd like to take a look :) http://youtu.be/UY85Y9qNh3Q
I really like the story and the cute graphics of your awesome game. Some problems I found while playing it: The comic doesn't cover the complete screen for me and it would be nice if a click or a press of a key would be needed to move on. I couldn't completely enjoy the comic, because the pages went by too fast. And I could move the character while the comic was shown. Sometimes the scene on the screen is jumping a bit. I think inside the cabin the camera is a too close to the beaver, so it looks rather cramped. After getting out of the cabin, the log was back on it's starting place, so I had at least two logs and that doesn't fit the theme at all :)
I really enjoyed playing it and I hope you find some time to make a much longer game with the beaver, it will be worth it!

IMPORTANT NOTE: If you want to place in the final results, you NEED votes. The easiest way to get votes is by rating other games. Judging lasts for 3 weeks following the end of Ludum Dare. For best effect, rate 20 games as soon as possible. Rating more games is encouraged.
MORE TIPS AND DETAILS AT THE BOTTOM OF THIS PAGE
TEAMS: Teams entering the Jam should pick a single representative to submit your game, or create a team specific account you can share. We currently do not support Team Voting, but sharing an account and together playing and rating games is acceptable.
NOT LOGGED IN?: If you get a message about not being logged in, even though you are, it’s because your web browser cached the non-logged in page. You can fix this by either refreshing your cache or clearing your cache. CTRL+F5 in many browsers. Chrome is a bit more work. Press F12 to enable Developer Mode, then you can right click on the refresh button and select “Empty Cache and Hard Reload”. This option is unavailable if you are not in Developer Mode.
PORTS: Ports to other platforms can be done after the deadline. That said, the sooner you finish your port, the sooner people can play your game, improving your chances of placing in the final results. For best results, provide a Web version of your game, or a Windows version with no dependencies. Also be sure to rate about 20 games to improve your visibility.
MY GAME DOESN’T SHOW UP: If you can’t find your game, it’s usually because the URL to your downloads are missing ‘http://‘. Fix your URLs (http://mysite.com/mygame.zip) and you will show up.
MY GAME CRASHES, IS UNBEATABLE, OR I MADE A TYPO: We allow you to fix crash or win condition bugs after the deadline (in a sense, like “porting” to support more players). We also allow “typo” bugs. I.e. A true that should have been a false, a word that should have been a different word, very tiny changes that you would have caught if you had more sleep. We leave this open to interpretation, but generally speaking your game should be identical to the game you submitted. No new features, just things you messed up last minute. Typos.
Absolutely stellar artwork and sound. Loved the little comics and the 3D setting.
Unfortunately, the game was so buggy that I got stuck at a point with the comic up and couldn't progress. Would love to see this finalized :)
