December 13th-16th 2013 :: Theme: You Only Get One
[ Real World Gatherings | Ludum Deals | Warmup Weekend ]
Here's my first Ludum Dare participation !
This is the story of a French Graphic & Game Designer student (me, btw !), who needs to find an internship in a Game Studio.
You'll help him, going through the three games he has created, to reach his goal. And he "only get one" : find an internship.
I really enjoyed to do this Ludum Dare, even if the "work-alone" situation isn't my habbit.
I tried to deal with all the differents roles in the same time, going from dev to graphic design, and the other way round.
I just called a friend of mine to make me some tracks I could use (all the songs are from this friend, in fact).
Now I hope you'll enjoy this entry, and support it !
And if you need some intern in your Game Studio, all my contacts are in the credits... ;)!

Nicely done. Could have used a bit more graphically (You've used a lot of grey colours!) but the overall result has a nice retro feel. :D
Nice game :)
I'm not sure I have entirely understood the game.
@romandtom : I've made this game as my Curriculum Vitae. I'm currently student in Game and Graphic Design, and i'm searching a 6 months internship. I took the Ludum Dare opportunity to make an original, interactive CV which present my abilities and all the games I've made :)
@Scifer : The grey colors are used to make contrast with the three different games :) It also represent the grey color of the walls of my school (seems like a jail to me... :D)
Good job and cool story, I hope you manage to get an internship somewhere!
I hope too ! Thanks a lot. It's really nice to have support from other game creators :)
can't play right now, because I'm on a mac. will test this later when I'm on my windoze pc...
A very nice experience. I can definitely relate with the theme of this game.
This was interesting, I enjoyed it. There were some collision issues but they weren't bothersome.
Really nice game and cool visuals !! I wish I had this idea^^
Nicely done! :D I liked the story, and hope you can get one job :)
nice way to tell a story. Good job man... good luck and best wishes!
Very interesting game I really like the art and sound design. All together a very strong entry, well done.
Relateable, only I've failed to find anything in months in general and usually work alone.
OMG the wiki! XD
Great stuff, hope this helps you find an internship!
Thank you ! :) Appreciate all your comments, and I know that we're a lot goin through this ordeal :p
Thanks again for your support !
Nice game! I didn't understand everything what to do, but still nice atmosphere! Good luck!
I think I was not able to understand what I've done... But I think I've done something right... Keep on going :)
Nice graphic and sound. The text appearing from the right seems very counterintuitive. The gameplay could use some work.
I know for the text...A little adjustement I had no time to fix. I'll do it as soon as possible !
Looks very interesting. Not sure exactly what to think of it though. Good job thoughc
I wish you good luck with your game development journey! I think you did the right thing and I like your style of doing games. Very personal. :)
Really good game! LOVED the art, the art is among the best art I have seen ALL LD. Nice sounds, solid story. Some of the game play is a bit tricky, like how you have jump to Shift, that messed me up and those small seconds are critical in these types of games. Very solid platforming and collision detection was amazing. I guess I have trained myself with poor collision detection and bad physics, so this game was really hard for me because it did those things so well. Haha. I got a bit confused on the level design and found it hard to know where I was supposed to go. Jumping felt a bit weak as I couldn't do some of the puzzles. I found some little 'holes' in the game where I could like glitch through walls and beat a puzzle quicker or something. Overall, VERY nice game!
Cool concept and generally well-executed. If you plan on submitting this as it stands in English, you've got several grammar errors which, while not too bad, do detract from the professional feel of it if you intend to use this as a CV - I'd recommend having a native speaker read through it. Just some friendly advice!
Very interesting! :D
The graphics (imo) are lacking a little, but it was fun nonetheless!
Awesome!
Thank you all for the support :) I take all of your advices ! They're really useful to me(I'll call a friend of mine, native english speaker. He'll tell me what goes wrong with the grammar, thanks ^^)
@MrBlade, well, your comment is awesome, and very precious. Thank you !
@ENDESGA : for the lack of graphics, time was against me :( Leading this project alone forced me to make choices. But I certainly will take the time to make something cleaner as soon as possible. Thanks a lot for the feedback !
Kept getting stuck on the first game on the red line, until I figured out you should go down on the text. The zelda/mario platformer had some of that IWBTG-type unforgiving platforming with the breaking platforms, which I consider bad game design. I'd say the little puzzle game with the tanks was the best one.
Overall I'd say within a limited timeframe, you should try and focus on one concept and polish it up as much as you can, I reckon you got spread thin between these three different types of games.
Best of luck on your internship hunt, I'm sure you'll do fine going from here.
I love the retro feeling, the graphics are really nice. Great job !
Nice Little Game, I love the idea! Regarding the mini-games I really enjoyed the stealth one, and the first platform is very original, albeit a bit too difficult for me!
Bonne chance pour trouver un stage! :)
L'intro qui donne ton CV aurait pu être distillée au long de la partie plutôt que faire une longue "cinématique".
Courage pour trouver un stage, je suis attelé à cela également !
Thanks for your support !
Interesting idea. I didn't care for it myself; however, I noticed in the comments that you said it is meant to be an interactive CV, and I think it seems to work well for that.

IMPORTANT NOTE: If you want to place in the final results, you NEED votes. The easiest way to get votes is by rating other games. Judging lasts for 3 weeks following the end of Ludum Dare. For best effect, rate 20 games as soon as possible. Rating more games is encouraged.
MORE TIPS AND DETAILS AT THE BOTTOM OF THIS PAGE
TEAMS: Teams entering the Jam should pick a single representative to submit your game, or create a team specific account you can share. We currently do not support Team Voting, but sharing an account and together playing and rating games is acceptable.
NOT LOGGED IN?: If you get a message about not being logged in, even though you are, it’s because your web browser cached the non-logged in page. You can fix this by either refreshing your cache or clearing your cache. CTRL+F5 in many browsers. Chrome is a bit more work. Press F12 to enable Developer Mode, then you can right click on the refresh button and select “Empty Cache and Hard Reload”. This option is unavailable if you are not in Developer Mode.
PORTS: Ports to other platforms can be done after the deadline. That said, the sooner you finish your port, the sooner people can play your game, improving your chances of placing in the final results. For best results, provide a Web version of your game, or a Windows version with no dependencies. Also be sure to rate about 20 games to improve your visibility.
MY GAME DOESN’T SHOW UP: If you can’t find your game, it’s usually because the URL to your downloads are missing ‘http://‘. Fix your URLs (http://mysite.com/mygame.zip) and you will show up.
MY GAME CRASHES, IS UNBEATABLE, OR I MADE A TYPO: We allow you to fix crash or win condition bugs after the deadline (in a sense, like “porting” to support more players). We also allow “typo” bugs. I.e. A true that should have been a false, a word that should have been a different word, very tiny changes that you would have caught if you had more sleep. We leave this open to interpretation, but generally speaking your game should be identical to the game you submitted. No new features, just things you messed up last minute. Typos.
Nice game, it's a good story to tell and I hope you'll find what you seek for ;)
