Time Heist

by Gonzo - 48 Hour Compo Entry

After one term of learning Unity and programming, Time Heist is my first attempt at a coherent game project. The idea was to use ten seconds as a ressource which the player can use to stop time around him and pass otherwise impossible areas.

Actually it was intended for the time to reset only after each zone, which could have consisted of up to three stages and would have forced the player to be more cautious about saving seconds, but more than one stage was unfortunately impossible for me to achieve within the time given.

There are still some bugs and issues (such as the delayed player rotation), but I hope you'll still have some fun. Feedback would be highly appreciated.

Controls: WASD: Move - Time Freeze: Space

Note: Chrome users might experience problems with the web player.

Used Software:

- Unity 3D (Engine)
- Sublime Text 2 (Coding)
- GIMP (Textures/"Art")
- Inkscape (Character Sprites)
- Audacity (Sound Editing)
- sfxr (Sound Effects)
- Pulseboy (Soundtrack)

- Chalkboard (
- Liquid Crystal (
- Cambria

Patch Notes:

- Fixed an error which made it impossible to end the game.
- Fixed an error which restarted the whole game when caught by a security guard.

I like the idea, and the graphics! Your execution is pretty good, although I couldn't pick up the clocks (no idea why) and if you run out of time to pause, the screen stays slightly greyed which is misleading (because you can be caught! :P)

The intro text is a bit long and wordy too. Maybe spread it out a bit or make it shorter?

Good start though! I really liked the theming.

I like this game a lot. OH! The first clock, I take him and the timer don't change and the line o vision of the guards is confuse in the first time, I thougth it was only in the light cone :)

PS: The music is simple but I really like.

I loved playing this. On the first attempt, I got stuck in a corner though, but after that everything went fine. Nice work!

Quite funny, and fun gameplay! Too short though.

Nice game! I managed to get it stuck by stopping time just as a guard saw me... he walked through me, then away, and I still couldn't move. I had to refresh the page.

Cool concept.

TEAMS: Teams entering the Jam should pick a single representative to submit your game, or create a team specific account you can share. We currently do not support Team Voting, but sharing an account and together playing and rating games is acceptable.

NOT LOGGED IN?: If you get a message about not being logged in, even though you are, it’s because your web browser cached the non-logged in page. You can fix this by either refreshing your cache or clearing your cache. CTRL+F5 in many browsers. Chrome is a bit more work. Press F12 to enable Developer Mode, then you can right click on the refresh button and select “Empty Cache and Hard Reload”. This option is unavailable if you are not in Developer Mode.

PORTS: Ports to other platforms can be done after the deadline. That said, the sooner you finish your port, the sooner people can play your game, improving your chances of placing in the final results. For best results, provide a Web version of your game, or a Windows version with no dependencies. Also be sure to rate about 20 games to improve your visibility.

MY GAME DOESN’T SHOW UP: If you can’t find your game, it’s usually because the URL to your downloads are missing ‘http://‘. Fix your URLs ( and you will show up.

MY GAME CRASHES, IS UNBEATABLE, OR I MADE A TYPO: We allow you to fix crash or win condition bugs after the deadline (in a sense, like “porting” to support more players). We also allow “typo” bugs. I.e. A true that should have been a false, a word that should have been a different word, very tiny changes that you would have caught if you had more sleep. We leave this open to interpretation, but generally speaking your game should be identical to the game you submitted. No new features, just things you messed up last minute. Typos.
