Ten Seconds Time Traveler

by Phallz - Jam Entry

"Hi, time traveler ! You live in the year 2074, and Earth is threatened with imminent destruction due to a bug in the code of Windows Millennium. To prevent this disaster, the cyborg Bill-Gates-9001 and his engineers have designed a time-travel machine.

Unfortunately, the machine is not yet fully functional and it will allow you to go back in time for a short period of only 10 SECONDS. But time is running out, so you're still sent in past to correct the faulty Windows Millenium code, potentially causing future robo-apocalypse (never trust robots).

For this, you must pick up the CDs containing the patches in different places you'll be sent, and insert them into the developers computer. These CDs have been sent there in advance to avoid any melting problems with your DNA during the temporal jump process. Small precision : your time-travel suit was poorly designed and you can't carry more than one disc at a time (you should report that to the gear engineers).

Beware ! At each jump, you create a "clone" of you that will be present during your next jump. Do not bump into yourself or you'll risk creating a TIME PARADOX (paradoxes are often causing apocalypses and can give you diarrhea, so please be careful). Fortunately, the machine is equipped with a safety device recalling you back in 2074 just before you create the paradox (device had not been debugged and could fail).

Last indication, you should either avoid entering the guards field of view, otherwise paradox creation blah blah blah you know the deal. Oddly, intelligence service could not explain you what the heck military guards are doing in developers office.

Your turn, time traveler ! Earth is counting on you !"

--------------------------------------------

This game has been made (had been made ?) for the Ludum Dare Jam.
We were two and this was our first real experience in game making.
Hope you will enjoy it ! (at least for 10 seconds)

PS : non-web versions have better graphics.

(Secret development fact : the guard has a mustache, but we can't see it, maybe because of time and space distorsion)(definitely not because of a bug)

it looks like really fun idea that fits the theme. however execution was not that smooth. hard to control the player and guess if you are hidden or not.

there is a difficult one... one level easier in the beginning would be good to learn how to play better

Interesting concept! I'm sure this could make for a great puzzle game with some more polish!

This looks like tons of fun, but it crashes for me.Web player won't run because there is currently a bug with Japanese Macs, but the downloadable fails too.

TEAMS: Teams entering the Jam should pick a single representative to submit your game, or create a team specific account you can share. We currently do not support Team Voting, but sharing an account and together playing and rating games is acceptable.

NOT LOGGED IN?: If you get a message about not being logged in, even though you are, it’s because your web browser cached the non-logged in page. You can fix this by either refreshing your cache or clearing your cache. CTRL+F5 in many browsers. Chrome is a bit more work. Press F12 to enable Developer Mode, then you can right click on the refresh button and select “Empty Cache and Hard Reload”. This option is unavailable if you are not in Developer Mode.

PORTS: Ports to other platforms can be done after the deadline. That said, the sooner you finish your port, the sooner people can play your game, improving your chances of placing in the final results. For best results, provide a Web version of your game, or a Windows version with no dependencies. Also be sure to rate about 20 games to improve your visibility.

MY GAME DOESN’T SHOW UP: If you can’t find your game, it’s usually because the URL to your downloads are missing ‘http://‘. Fix your URLs (http://mysite.com/mygame.zip) and you will show up.

MY GAME CRASHES, IS UNBEATABLE, OR I MADE A TYPO: We allow you to fix crash or win condition bugs after the deadline (in a sense, like “porting” to support more players). We also allow “typo” bugs. I.e. A true that should have been a false, a word that should have been a different word, very tiny changes that you would have caught if you had more sleep. We leave this open to interpretation, but generally speaking your game should be identical to the game you submitted. No new features, just things you messed up last minute. Typos.
