August 23rd-26th 2013 :: Theme: 10 Seconds
IMPORTANT NOTE: If you want to place in the final results, you NEED votes. The easiest way to get votes is by rating other games. Judging lasts for 3 weeks following the end of Ludum Dare. For best effect, rate 20 games as soon as possible. Rating more games is encouraged.

North Exitby kazukishida - Jam Entry
You need to escape.
You need to open that door.
You need to survive.
North Exit is a first person, suspense/thriller/horror-survival game. Instructions are in-game.
EDIT: You can hold the Shift key to sprint. It's a wonky implementation, so you'll still drain your sprint meter even if you just stand there while holding down the button. You can say the guy is hyperventilating or something I guess.
It's my first attempt at creating a game of this genre -- an attempt from someone who's never willingly played a suspense game in his life. It became an interesting experiment for me, though it meant I couldn't make it as scary or thrilling as someone who plays those types of games on a regular basis.
Still, the aim is simple -- open the door (yes, the panel with the three red lights is a door).
The game will display how long you took to open the door by the end, see if you can beat my record of 57 seconds! :D
- the mouse becomes unresponsive on some plays, forcing the player to look at one direction (no, not the band).
This is not a feature --- please reload the page if it happens!
- the camera clips inside walls or objects when you go really near them, and look around.
This is a cosmetic bug, so I'm sorry if it gets confusing at times!
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Q: What door? Where is it?! You liar!
A: The door is the the wall with the three red lights. Yep, it's a door, and my 3D modeling skills are excellent. /end sarcasm
Q: Where's the 10 seconds in this thing?! You liar!
A: The flashlight duration and the sprint bar both last for 10 seconds. Yeah, it's pretty shoehorned in, but I didn't have the time to implement a better one, so yeah, sorry about that. :(
Q: Sprint bar? You can sprint?! You never said that, you liar!
A: Yeah, well, it was supposed to be a larger game with more rooms, but I suck at work estimation, so I left the other rooms out -- and those rooms have instructions on sprinting. So yeah.
You can sprint with Shift! Yeah!
Q: Your game was confusing! Please fix and/or improve it!
A: First of all, thank you for showing interest to my little game. <3 I had lots of fun doing this, and will definitely take into account any and all comments about it in further, post-Jam builds. I'll most likely share it in this page too! :D
Q: Hey, you said you'd rate the games of the people who commented?! You haven't rated mine! You liar!
A: Please wait a bit more, I'm sorry, I have acads from Monday to Saturday, so I have little time to check games out, especially if it doesn't have a Web version. BUTBUTBUT I'll get to them all, I promise! :D
Q: Why is your entry description so long? You liar!
A: I like writing! And I didn't lie what is this even a question

TEAMS: Teams entering the Jam should pick a single representative to submit your game, or create a team specific account you can share. We currently do not support Team Voting, but sharing an account and together playing and rating games is acceptable.
NOT LOGGED IN?: If you get a message about not being logged in, even though you are, it’s because your web browser cached the non-logged in page. You can fix this by either refreshing your cache or clearing your cache. CTRL+F5 in many browsers. Chrome is a bit more work. Press F12 to enable Developer Mode, then you can right click on the refresh button and select “Empty Cache and Hard Reload”. This option is unavailable if you are not in Developer Mode.
PORTS: Ports to other platforms can be done after the deadline. That said, the sooner you finish your port, the sooner people can play your game, improving your chances of placing in the final results. For best results, provide a Web version of your game, or a Windows version with no dependencies. Also be sure to rate about 20 games to improve your visibility.
MY GAME DOESN’T SHOW UP: If you can’t find your game, it’s usually because the URL to your downloads are missing ‘http://‘. Fix your URLs (http://mysite.com/mygame.zip) and you will show up.
MY GAME CRASHES, IS UNBEATABLE, OR I MADE A TYPO: We allow you to fix crash or win condition bugs after the deadline (in a sense, like “porting” to support more players). We also allow “typo” bugs. I.e. A true that should have been a false, a word that should have been a different word, very tiny changes that you would have caught if you had more sleep. We leave this open to interpretation, but generally speaking your game should be identical to the game you submitted. No new features, just things you messed up last minute. Typos.
