by Thor Thunderfist - 48 Hour Compo Entry

You are a cube making your way through color-based levels. You can only cross over colored tiles if you are the same color. Each level you must unlock the red, green, and blue colors to proceed. Every 10 seconds you have to start the level again, but you retain any colors you have unlocked for that level.

Try to get the lowest score possible by the end! Can you get a perfect score of 9?!

WASD - Movement
Left/Up/Right Arrow - Toggle Red/Green/Blue
Down Arrow - Reset Color

Chroma-Chrono-Block was created using the free version of Unity 4.2. The code written by me is contained in a single file attached to the player cube.

Many thanks to the sfxr program for the sound effects.

Unfortunately, Chroma-Chrono-Block is not color blind friendly. If you are color blind, I am very sorry that this game will be difficult for you.

I didn't quite get the color idea the first couple of times, but once I got it I thought it was pretty fun. Simple graphics and fun to play! Really challenging too!

I am actually colourblind, so took me a while to realise I was mixing colours. Still, I figured it out in the end, that bit wasn't so bad. xD

The hardest thing for me though is the controls. It's really slippery and those mazes are quite complex for 10 seconds!

All in all a really great idea and I can see it being a lot of fun, but the controls need to be tighter as the frustration levels are a bit high at the moment, for me at least.

The difficulty of the red maze in the second level, coupled with the floaty nature of the movement, completely frustrated me to the point of quitting.

Interesting concept, and the graphics are functional, clear, and also pretty nice to look at with the 3D effect while moving. The audio leaves a lot to be desired, though, as without music the game feels pretty bleak. A sound for changing colors would have been nice, too.

Liked that you had the ability to mix colors. The mazes were way too tight (for deadly walls). I'm not sure deadly walls were even needed as the time limit was already really short for the complexity of the mazes so constantly dying from sliding into a wall made what would have been a great game into a very frustrating one instead.

TEAMS: Teams entering the Jam should pick a single representative to submit your game, or create a team specific account you can share. We currently do not support Team Voting, but sharing an account and together playing and rating games is acceptable.

NOT LOGGED IN?: If you get a message about not being logged in, even though you are, it’s because your web browser cached the non-logged in page. You can fix this by either refreshing your cache or clearing your cache. CTRL+F5 in many browsers. Chrome is a bit more work. Press F12 to enable Developer Mode, then you can right click on the refresh button and select “Empty Cache and Hard Reload”. This option is unavailable if you are not in Developer Mode.

PORTS: Ports to other platforms can be done after the deadline. That said, the sooner you finish your port, the sooner people can play your game, improving your chances of placing in the final results. For best results, provide a Web version of your game, or a Windows version with no dependencies. Also be sure to rate about 20 games to improve your visibility.

MY GAME DOESN’T SHOW UP: If you can’t find your game, it’s usually because the URL to your downloads are missing ‘http://‘. Fix your URLs ( and you will show up.

MY GAME CRASHES, IS UNBEATABLE, OR I MADE A TYPO: We allow you to fix crash or win condition bugs after the deadline (in a sense, like “porting” to support more players). We also allow “typo” bugs. I.e. A true that should have been a false, a word that should have been a different word, very tiny changes that you would have caught if you had more sleep. We leave this open to interpretation, but generally speaking your game should be identical to the game you submitted. No new features, just things you messed up last minute. Typos.
