Love it! Shooting arrows into rocks and swinging to the next platform is great. The swinging action itself is perfect.
Beautiful game with buckets of atmosphere! I generally don't care much for platformers but this is great. Nice work :)
the visual style is adorable, well done!
one of my favorites so far!
however - please try to accommodate for other keyboard layouts. I'm using a QWERTZ keyboard, instead of a QWERTY keyboard (since I'm German) and had to struggle with the controls. use X + C instead od Z + X next time, please :)
the game itself is amazing!!
I stuck at the first high obstacle yet I've liked the game, its visual simplicity.
unclejunkie: shoot arrows at boxes with red corners, and you'll create a vine and swing from it.
Hunter hungry and no potatoes!
I had a good feeling from it, but I'm not able to finish second level... after swinging over the first obstacle I'm just not able to jump at the end
Very creative and brilliantly executed. The mood is great, and there are loads of interesting features. Well done.
Great game. Love the bow and the hunting mechanics, I feel bad about this but shooting rabbits was fun.
Really good game! Love the pixel art, the bow and arrow mechanics and the swinging rope. It seems to be a long game, i played it until day 4 only. Congratulations!
Great visual style and mood! Nice audio too. Leveldesign was nice. I didn't get why the first room lagged so much and why the resolution was lower.
I had a ball with this one, It's probably my favourite so far.
You did a great job with the level design and teaching the player without a perceived tutorial sequence.
Grappling mechanics are always a sure way to win me over. Loved it. Traversing the environment felt dangerous and exciting. Really fun with a great atmosphere. :)
Surprisingly complete game, very long and enjoyable. Smooth input and levels. Nicely done!
An inspired effort! The shooting/jumping/swinging/climbing mechanics combine so well that it's a pleasure traversing the levels, while the theme and visuals conspired to create an evocative experience.
My only complaint is that getting sent back to the same place after falling did get slightly irritating after the umpteenth time.
You've got a really distinctive style, Jonathan. Nice work!
Excellent work!
I like this.
Only one thing with controls. I caught some glitch and game reacts only on "ctrl&space" instead "z&x". In this moment "z&x" keys didn't work at all. And when I returned to childs nothing happened and game didn't react on z,x,space, ctrl keys.
This was really great, the controls were tight as heck once you learned them (I spent a little bit too long tapping UP instead of Z to latch onto walls hehe) and the swinging mechanic just felt organic and natural.
I didn't really enjoy the way you had to walk through the same area every time to reach further destinations, but it became pretty clear that this "revisiting" was important to the mood and atmosphere of the game.
The way those particles (not sure what they were?) are emitted when you have enough rabbits was an amazing design choice; and the "sunset" palette you used really suited the theme of the game.
This is also a really unique take on the "minimalism" theme, I feel!
Man, really great job, this seems so amazingly polished for the time you spent on it. 5/5 stars for sure
Great aesthetic ! I love how took the theme to make a caveman game with basic objective : to feed. Gameplay and level design are good and complete, and so are the music and sounds. Great game !
Very nice game. Having to bring back food adds some kind of seriousness it. Dual between shooting / rope is nice as well. Grabbing of the nets while jumping could be automatic though e.g. if key up is held down, now it is somewhat harder when the jump key have to be pressed again. Very nice work!
As always, a brilliant game from Jonathan Whiting. Thoughts:
-Excellent idea to display those particles when it's time to go back. Does the job of telling the player what to do nicely.
-I love the fact that you excluded the concept of death/restart that have become so universal. Giving failing an actually heavy penalty was appreciated. However, while I realize the monotony was important to the mood, the game might be more enjoyable if the failure levels were shorter, or you came out closer to where you fell.
-It might also be good if the size of the range for hitting the swinging anchor blocks was larger than the box itself, just to make it easier. Although admittedly that might be slightly difficult.
All in all, amazing.
So this thing KEEPS MY PROGRESS? This is fantastic. I will actually finish this game eventually :)
Very good game. Nice visual style and good mood. Ninja rope is fun. Gripping story for there not really being one. Only complaint is had to go back and forth a bit much.
Great game with a fantastic atmosphere as well as some really fun game mechanics. Certainly one of the best I've played this Ludum Dare.
Great atmosphere, tight mechanics (but took me a little while to figure "jump" as latching onto the climby stuff). Nice coherent piece again. Bit repetitive retreading the early stages so much but that's part of what it is. Great job!
Really nice! The mechanics, story and artwork all fit the theme well. Seeing a highlighted block and discovering you could grapple onto it made me grin.
Nice idea and theme. I really felt for the hunter having such a hard time getting food. I disliked that I had to hit jump again to grab a wall. It felt non intuitive and punishing. I'd much prefer an auto grab. Would have made the falling sequences less painful. I also wish in games like this there was a goal like "survive a week" and a day counter on screen so you knew how close you were to the end. Important for a compo entry. Very well done and interesting game.
The controls feel great - the rope is very liero. It felt awesome to feel like I was becoming more confident and acrobatic; taking more risks in jumps and getting a flowing movement going.
Awesome. Can't really add anything more that hasn't been said by other people already, just note a little... thing I noticed.
At the end (spoilers ? ) when the hunter and the kids are walking away (presumably to new hunting grounds ) you can still hold the right arrow key and go back into the hunting ground with the bunnies (except they're all dead now).
I would guess it was either someway intentional or its just not finished due to the obvious time constrain.
Loved it anyway.
Great visual style combined with amazing atmosphere, and arrow/grappling platform jumping really makes this game my favorite for this LD. Keep up the good work :)
Very well done! Each of the gameplay mechanics are tight and work perfect. The simple visual story and mood are fantastic!
This feels very minimal and yet very polished at the same time. I was pleasantly surprised when I shot my bow up at one of the blocks and I was swinging on a rope! The music, mood, and fun are all really good. Nice job!
Enjoyable mechanics, nice polish! The petals leading you back are a neat touch.
I loved the shooting mechanic, it felt perfect. Catching all the rabbits was fun, but I didn't enjoy bringing them back to my kids, and then when I got them all, we started on a hike forever? It looks like the end but I can still hold right to go back into the cave, then some weird noises happen? Seems like a bug...
Lots of depth hidden in this game. Very surprising amount of challenge and exploration. Great controls, nice colors, and a great use of the theme.
Really unique game! The great thing about Ludum Dare is that you can find such diamonds like this one, and that they would probably never exist if not this particular event. Awesome!
Excellent game, although it drove me crazy for a while because I didn't realize you could ready another arrow while you were still swinging on a vine, I had previously been trying to leap off the vine and then ready an arrow and somehow hit the next box, making a couple sections extremely difficult. After I realized my error though, it wasn't too bad.
Amazing, loved it! The grappling tricks were super satisfying and filled with surprises.
A simple and fun to play game. I like the graphics and the sound effects.
Incredible little game! The vibe coming from it is just perfect!(The sound, just love the sound)
This game has an awesome atmosphere. Very nice! I know that it was intented to walk the same area again and again (to show how the hunter exploits area by area), but in the case of gameplay it isn't that fun :)
Great game, nothing to say! :D
low-res pixel graphic is well made, level design is really good and sounds do the job.
I love to swing from a platform to another.
One of the best titles of LD26. :)
Fun game. Took a bit to figure out what I was trying to do. Liked the idea and loved the swinging mechanic. Good job!
The controls took some getting used to, but after a few hunts it got easier and a lot more fun :)
The look of the graphics and color scheme is great, it really sets the mood.
it is a lot of fun and I really liked it. but going back and forth becomes kinda boring. if there is a way to make a shortcut for the player every time the player discovers a new area would be nice.
Extremely cool looking pixel art platforming. Nice fire and sunset too...Nice idea to go out each day...
Really an excellent game ! The atmosphere is intense. One of the best entry ! Gorgeous :)
Visual style is really amazing! Love the mood, especially the music. And the sound is great because it's minimal and not irritating. Very well polished game, great level design, simple & interesting gameplay. 5/5!
Very good! A lot of nice mechanics in here. The graphics are very good as well.
Shooting rabbits that do not respawn and swinging from blocks interested me. The dark, primal mood crept up on me. If you continue to develop this, I wasn't sure what else would evolve after each day and I knew I would have to travel further to continue to find food that I hadn't killed on a previous day, so at that time, I lost interest.
Great job! I really liked it, and it fit the theme perfectly, except for fun! The only thing I would suggest is some sort of endgame, but I know how tight time is. Again, Great job!
Impressive, it's hard to get the gameplay right in this sort of game but you hit the nail on the head. Great job!
Had a quick play ages ago but kept meaning to get round to playing the whole thing. The grappling mechanic is great once it gets harder later on, lovely stuff :)

PORTS: Ports to other platforms can be done after the deadline. That said, the sooner you finish your port, the sooner people can play your game, improving your chances of placing in the final results. MY GAME CRASHES, IS UNBEATABLE, OR I MADE A TYPO: We allow you to fix crash or win condition bugs after the deadline (in a sense, like “porting” to support more players). We also allow “typo” bugs. I.e. A true that should have been a false, a word that should have been a different word, very tiny changes that you would have caught if you had more sleep. We leave this open to interpretation, but generally speaking your game should be identical to the game you submitted. No new features, just things you messed up last minute. Typos.
I didn't finish it. I wanted to, but it's so late and I have so many games to review. I gotta say, I really want to finish this game. I couldn't find any bugs, the level design is good, the theme is brilliant. I would love to know what tools you used for this game.
