Prisma

by sophron - Jam Entry

There are a lot of things to improve, but that's what we've done in 3 days.

Use the arrows or the 'wasd' to control the prism. Rotate the prism with 'space'.

Your target is to stay alive for as long as you can. You can go from one color to another only if the prism is pointing to the right color.

Your links are all pointing to the source zip. You really should at least fix the web link to point to your game instead of relying on the description

Hint: Only link your index.html to allow us to play directly on our webpage ;). Couldn't play it when I downloaded it :S.

A very interesting game mechanic - probably the most innovative from the games I've already played. I love the simple idea of combining an endless runner, so to speak, with a color matcher. You have one simple idea that is easy to pick up and generates the whole gameplay - a perfectly minimal game mechanic, in other words. Once I got the hang of it - which didn't take long - it was a thoroughly enjoyable game. I found myself trying to stay ahead, to have time to correct my course whenever a change of route appeared.
One minor complaint about the gameplay is that it's not clear when to switch the prism's front color on time, when changing tile colors - but luckily, there're enough green tiles to do that.
The game runs very smoothly, and the many colours are surprisingly not straining the eye. The music used also fits the game well. The controls are responsive and the level is generated with enough diversity to keep things interesting.
All in all, a good game fitting the "Minimalism" theme, with a very innovative gameplay mechanic. We all need fresh ideas, and this is a well implemented one.

@Frosnite: You must first extract the zip files - it worked for me after that.

Nice music, if I had one criticism to make it would be that there should be a tutorial of some kind as I was struggling to understand the rules at first. Good attempt though

Interesting concept, it took me a minute to figure out what was going on, but other then that, pretty cool :)

TEAMS: Teams entering the Jam should pick a single representative to submit your game, or create a team specific account you can share. We currently do not support Team Voting, but sharing an account and together playing and rating games is acceptable.

NOT LOGGED IN?: If you get a message about not being logged in, even though you are, it’s because your web browser cached the non-logged in page. You can fix this by either refreshing your cache or clearing your cache. CTRL+F5 in many browsers. Chrome is a bit more work. Press F12 to enable Developer Mode, then you can right click on the refresh button and select “Empty Cache and Hard Reload”. This option is unavailable if you are not in Developer Mode.

PORTS: Ports to other platforms can be done after the deadline. That said, the sooner you finish your port, the sooner people can play your game, improving your chances of placing in the final results. For best results, provide a Web version of your game, or a Windows version with no dependencies. Also be sure to rate about 20 games to improve your visibility.

MY GAME DOESN’T SHOW UP: If you can’t find your game, it’s usually because the URL to your downloads are missing ‘http://‘. Fix your URLs (http://mysite.com/mygame.zip) and you will show up.

MY GAME CRASHES, IS UNBEATABLE, OR I MADE A TYPO: We allow you to fix crash or win condition bugs after the deadline (in a sense, like “porting” to support more players). We also allow “typo” bugs. I.e. A true that should have been a false, a word that should have been a different word, very tiny changes that you would have caught if you had more sleep. We leave this open to interpretation, but generally speaking your game should be identical to the game you submitted. No new features, just things you messed up last minute. Typos.
