The Simple Clicker Game

by psc1997 - 48 Hour Compo Entry

Ok. So this is very, very simple game.
This is minimalist notes too, so...
Have a good fun ;-)

P.S. Try Find Easter Eggs!

I will upload and add timelapse from creating game in this week ;-)

@EDIT: I fix problem with points system ;)

If You have errors like "Unsupported major.minor version 51.0" and "Could not find the main class", probably You have old JAVA version. To run this game You must have 1.7 version ;-)
Solution: Just update JAVA ;-)

Got errors when I tried to run this: "Unsupported major.minor version 51.0" and "Could not find the main class". I tried to run it by typing "java -jar Game.jar"

@Jarcas Studios: Maybe You have old JAVA version? (Link: http://tinyurl.com/cuxak8v)
I have 1.7.0_17 version :-) (Screen: http://scr.hu/0co4/uxv1o)
When I running game by "java -jar Game.jar" I have only one error: "Error with playing sound.", but I've got this because i forgot delete test sound. This isn't crashing game ;-)

Apr 29, 2013 @ 2:12pm

Yep, had to upgrade my Java from 1.6 to 1.7 before I could run it.

I had thought about doing some kind of simple button pressing game for this LD too, but ended up abandoning that idea.

I have to admit, your little random messages ("Keep Clicking", etc.) kept me playing this game a little longer than I thought I would. :)

Apr 29, 2013 @ 7:49pm

Can't play, don't have windows :(

This is really minimalistic :) Not the usual game, but an interesting idea. I especially like the game's comments and that it offered some help when I reach a to bad score ;)

@rainblade studios: This is *jar file, so this will work on any system ;-)
Because JAVA will work on any system ;-)

@Jarcas Studios: You can run game. It's good :>
When I read last line of Your comment I became happy man ^^
Thanks :-)

@stefan: Thank You ^^
I'd like this comments too ;-)

Pretty basic game, but it runs! There's a bug, any box you don't click stays marked as a correct box when "click me" moves away from it. Managed to get -1003 points :)

Fun, yet SOOOOO minimalistic.

Probably the most minimalistic game I've played all LD. :P good humour, though the gameplay was not that entertaining. Not something that I've seen on here yet though, and definitely theme fitting. Good job.

I felt as though I was being scolded at around -200, as though that was bad or something

Worked under Linux with openjdk7. Minimal but not very challenging! :)

Fits the theme nicely. Relying on updated Java is like herding cats though... Fun!

May 11, 2013 @ 4:43pm

Very amusing and ridiculously minimalistic! "Don't Click Here" is a nice touch too ;).

May 11, 2013 @ 10:14pm

Creative use of Swing buttons. There's not a time limit, so it was quite easy, but still. Nice!

Thanks for all comments and votes :)
Everytime when I see new comment I smile to myself, and I think I managed to do something powerful, and gives a smile to other players :)

@SuperDisk: Thank You :)
Time limit! Good idea!
When i was doing game i was planning to add time for reaction - the faster you react, the more points You earn, but I don't have time and idea how to do that, so there is no "Time for reaction" in final game :/
But time limit is great idea! Why did not I think about this idea earlier? ;>

Certainly fits the theme. I think I made the game angry by not clicking "Click".

May 15, 2013 @ 6:34pm

Great use of the theme!

May 16, 2013 @ 9:09pm

Cool idea man! I think you need to expand on it a bit to really make it fun but it's a good start.

Amusing for some reason. I liked the random text for each click. Important: if you read this review this review will be read! Also, thank you for making a jar file I can just click to play. Lots of java games submitted to LD are really hard to get running. :)

That was a cross between frustration and fun. :-) I kept going to see what would happen, but nothing did. It did make me smile though and it was stangely addictive. Maybe the messages should have been bigger, but then again having them quite small and subtle was part of it. You definitely made a minimalist game. :-)

Reminds me of this:

I like it. It's silly. And it does feel like an MMO xD
It'd be cool to get extra points for the less time you take to click, or something like that. That'd add some skill :3

TEAMS: Teams entering the Jam should pick a single representative to submit your game, or create a team specific account you can share. We currently do not support Team Voting, but sharing an account and together playing and rating games is acceptable.

NOT LOGGED IN?: If you get a message about not being logged in, even though you are, it’s because your web browser cached the non-logged in page. You can fix this by either refreshing your cache or clearing your cache. CTRL+F5 in many browsers. Chrome is a bit more work. Press F12 to enable Developer Mode, then you can right click on the refresh button and select “Empty Cache and Hard Reload”. This option is unavailable if you are not in Developer Mode.

PORTS: Ports to other platforms can be done after the deadline. That said, the sooner you finish your port, the sooner people can play your game, improving your chances of placing in the final results. For best results, provide a Web version of your game, or a Windows version with no dependencies. Also be sure to rate about 20 games to improve your visibility.

MY GAME DOESN’T SHOW UP: If you can’t find your game, it’s usually because the URL to your downloads are missing ‘http://‘. Fix your URLs (http://mysite.com/mygame.zip) and you will show up.

MY GAME CRASHES, IS UNBEATABLE, OR I MADE A TYPO: We allow you to fix crash or win condition bugs after the deadline (in a sense, like “porting” to support more players). We also allow “typo” bugs. I.e. A true that should have been a false, a word that should have been a different word, very tiny changes that you would have caught if you had more sleep. We leave this open to interpretation, but generally speaking your game should be identical to the game you submitted. No new features, just things you messed up last minute. Typos.
