December 14th-17th 2012 :: Theme: You are the Villain
Make sure you have sound on!
Way too ambitious , rookie mistake.Only my second game and first LD48.
Was supposed to be a frantic sidescroller race against time where you play Gabe Newell on a quest to stop the release of HL3 , not much of it eventuated.
There is no ending but you will probably get a laugh out of playing a "level" or 2 .
Avoid paparazzi and fanboys , they slow you.
Collecting money , eating babies , drinking StarFux coffee = good

Yeah I get stupid when I'm sleep deprived. Was trying to capture some of the perverted vibe on some of the old C64 games but I went too cheap. Thanks for playing my p.o.s :D
Gaben as a Villain? Run run and give us that Half Life 3 :D
Really funny and nice graphics but I can't avoid those guys.. they are jumping really high ...
WHY NO SOURCE LINK, AGAINST THE RULES!!!!! Anyway, funny. Pretty generic platformer. I get your theme idea though :P
I'm not sure whether the game's outrageous size (93MB for a LD48 game?) was just a mistake, or an intended pun aimed at GabeN (turns out it's just GM being silly).
:D Funny but it I hanged in Level 3. I couldn't jump on a block to finish the Level. Maybe he was just too fat or something like that ;)
@ Spierek how would I go about linking source for game maker lite? , I'm super noob at this stuff
I've laugh my ass off. Only one problem. 93 Mb is too heavy (especially on mediafire), even for Gaben. :)
Also, Gabe's animations looks adorable.
thanks mate , I am shocked its so big myself , might see if it still works after being zipped
Fun stuff :) Always fun to make fun of him, especially because of how they are handling HL:E3 and the sale style of dota2
GabeN looks really great. The quotes are funny aswell.
But why is Gabe the villain?
@TheCze I had planned an elaborate story about Gabe secretly syphoning funds from HL3 development into personal hat research . Thats why he is the villian but ran out of time and its totally not clear in the game wtf is going on .I would say I only 30% completed the game and kinda feel bad wasting peoples time downoloading it.
The executable is so huge! But the game is fun and the theme is wonderful :D
Im sorry to everyone for the exe being so big, I think it has to do with the way Game Maker Lite handles sound files. I tried zipping it on best compression and it barely made a difference
Another huge entry almost downloaded. For those of us who aren't lucky enough to have unlimited allowance, you should give a heads up :)
pretty funny, I liked the dancing bear. Not sure how Gabe is the villain but I may be biased :).

Should've posted this the day this was done...
Sorry for the enormous file size! :D
The Music was a lot bigger than it should've been, as it could have been looped.
Thanks for playing anyways!

IMPORTANT NOTE: If you want to place in the final results, you NEED votes. The easiest way to get votes is by rating other games. Judging lasts for 3 weeks following the end of Ludum Dare. For best effect, rate 20 games as soon as possible. Rating more games is encouraged.
MORE TIPS AND DETAILS AT THE BOTTOM OF THIS PAGE
REMEMBER: The “Theme” category is only for the main theme (You are the Villain). Don’t penalize for not using Goats.
TEAMS: Teams entering the Jam should pick a single representative to submit your game, or create a team specific account you can share. We currently do not support Team Voting, but sharing an account and together playing and rating games is acceptable.
NOT LOGGED IN?: If you get a message about not being logged in, even though you are, it’s because your web browser cached the non-logged in page. You can fix this by either refreshing your cache or clearing your cache. CTRL+F5 in many browsers. Chrome is a bit more work. Press F12 to enable Developer Mode, then you can right click on the refresh button and select “Empty Cache and Hard Reload”. This option is unavailable if you are not in Developer Mode.
We’ve identified the problem, and should have the page caching bugs fixed for next Ludum Dare.
PORTS: Ports to other platforms can be done after the deadline. That said, the sooner you finish your port, the sooner people can play your game, improving your chances of placing in the final results. For best results, provide a Web version of your game, or a Windows version with no dependencies. Also be sure to rate about 20 games to improve your visibility.
MY GAME DOESN’T SHOW UP: If you can’t find your game, it’s usually because the URL to your downloads are missing ‘http://‘. Fix your URLs (http://mysite.com/mygame.zip) and you will show up.
MY GAME CRASHES, IS UNBEATABLE, OR I MADE A TYPO: We allow you to fix crash or win condition bugs after the deadline (in a sense, like “porting” to support more players). We also allow “typo” bugs. I.e. A true that should have been a false, a word that should have been a different word, very tiny changes that you would have caught if you had more sleep. We leave this open to interpretation, but generally speaking your game should be identical to the game you submitted. No new features, just things you messed up last minute. Typos.
Made me chuckle, but I think some of the humor was excessively sexual.
