The last game before the end of the world

by grifdail - Jam Entry

This is my second LudumDare.
In "The last game before the end of the world" you must help the Doctor BadGuy to reach the hearth of the univers. You should stay aways from the Meteor and pick up the lost cargo.

Use the arrow to move and rotate the spaceship and space to shoot laser !

The game is not 100% finish, I had many setback but I hope you'll like it.

Finaly thank to whole community. Especialy the french Community on #LudumDare-fr .

Dont forget that you're awesome !

Very slick and speedy! Not much to do, though :)

Very fast, the universe was destroyed :D!

When moving, asteroids would go so fast towards you!

Nice and simple. Really good music too. However, it goes too fast for my eyes/brain, you should consider reducing the speed.

Not a bad start, please tighten up the controls! They are very sloppy! Can't wait to see your next entry.

The speed of rotation is very fast making it a bit hard to control. I always like a good shmup though. What is the purpose of picking up the cargo? Good experience, don't mind the setbacks!

I like the controls, it is fun to fly around like a drunkard!

I enjoyed it, but I did think the controls were hyper-sensitive, it would be good to reduce turning speed a little.

So, I liked the idea of having multiple webpages dedicated to the game. To be honest, it didn't seem like much at first, but when I actually got to the actually game I liked how the graphics and the music went together. That being said, the movement was too fast for comfort, although nice and crisp. Turning was also a bit too fast. Also, the level was far too long for doing the same thing over and over again, destroying asteroids and picking up the same exact powerup over and over again. I think you really have a good sense of style, though, as far as the actual game goes. Keep up the good work and keep improving!

@DaGamesta Thank for you comments.
So most of you tell me the same thing: The game is too fast. I've learn, if the rules allowed that, I would have tweak that. Now I'll just keep that comment' in mind for the next LD. However I've also got some positive comment about the speed. I've design the game to be very fast, but apparently it was'nt the good choice.
Thank you everybody for the feedback ! I'll be able to improve myself a lot, thank to you !

Not much to say that hasn't been said. However I like the music. What tool do you use ?

Was pretty good for the most part, felt a bit vague at times though. Movement was way too fast so it was hard to see stuff coming and blast it in time.

I found the game very hard to play because the ship turn really too much and you can't aim properly. The level is very long and I ended finding an angle and rush the end firing only in front of me, with success. This is not the kind of challenge I expect from a shooter. I found the sfx horrible to hear and too loud (I had to reduce the browser sound in the system). Maybe because of the overall experience, I didn't like the music much.
The good points : no crash or bug, nice parallax effect, sprites are ok.
Thanks for the game =)

@lotusgame The music was made by my friend @mortrevere , you may ask him. The other tool I use was Gimp, sublim text, chromium and BFXR. That all !

Awesome, great music and the background was really slick. Very touchy controls!

IMPORTANT NOTE: If you want to place in the final results, you NEED votes. The easiest way to get votes is by rating other games. Judging lasts for 3 weeks following the end of Ludum Dare. For best effect, rate 20 games as soon as possible. Rating more games is encouraged.

REMEMBER: The “Theme” category is only for the main theme (You are the Villain). Don’t penalize for not using Goats.

TEAMS: Teams entering the Jam should pick a single representative to submit your game, or create a team specific account you can share. We currently do not support Team Voting, but sharing an account and together playing and rating games is acceptable.

NOT LOGGED IN?: If you get a message about not being logged in, even though you are, it’s because your web browser cached the non-logged in page. You can fix this by either refreshing your cache or clearing your cache. CTRL+F5 in many browsers. Chrome is a bit more work. Press F12 to enable Developer Mode, then you can right click on the refresh button and select “Empty Cache and Hard Reload”. This option is unavailable if you are not in Developer Mode.

We’ve identified the problem, and should have the page caching bugs fixed for next Ludum Dare.

PORTS: Ports to other platforms can be done after the deadline. That said, the sooner you finish your port, the sooner people can play your game, improving your chances of placing in the final results. For best results, provide a Web version of your game, or a Windows version with no dependencies. Also be sure to rate about 20 games to improve your visibility.

MY GAME DOESN’T SHOW UP: If you can’t find your game, it’s usually because the URL to your downloads are missing ‘http://‘. Fix your URLs ( and you will show up.

MY GAME CRASHES, IS UNBEATABLE, OR I MADE A TYPO: We allow you to fix crash or win condition bugs after the deadline (in a sense, like “porting” to support more players). We also allow “typo” bugs. I.e. A true that should have been a false, a word that should have been a different word, very tiny changes that you would have caught if you had more sleep. We leave this open to interpretation, but generally speaking your game should be identical to the game you submitted. No new features, just things you messed up last minute. Typos.
