August 24th-27th 2012 :: Theme: Evolution
This is my game "A Conglomerate of Pixels".
You're basically a pixel that runs around bumping into other pixels. The pixels you bump into stick to you and give you additional protection/powers (hence you evolve your pixel).
Attack enemies and other players by shooting them and ramming into them (best only ram into them if you are surrounded by pixels). Don't try pick up a pixel that's connected to an enemy pixel, you'll just hurt yourself :`(
Pixels:
White - Protection\Heavy
Blue - Protection\Speed Boost
Orange- Protection\Directional Shooting
EDIT: Any clump of pixels with a halo surrounding it is either you or an enemy. Enemies are red and the players are either purple or yellow.
There are 4 single player levels and a 2-player vs mode.
Controls:
Player 1 (Purple)- 'W' 'S' 'A' 'D'
Player 2 (Yellow)- Arrow Keys
Press Escape at any time to return to the menu.
This was built entirely in Unity3D and sound was made using http://www.bfxr.net/

Pretty fun, I was sad that it ended so quickly...
Once I even completed a level without doing anything...thanks AI :D
Thanks very much, I'm glad people actually tried my game out! Given more time I would have added way more levels and different types of enemies (and given the enemies more of a brain :P). It started out as multi-player only then changed my mind, so I didn't leave enough time to add more levels.
MOAR! I really liked the concept and the mechanics! Please make a post-compo version with more levels and pixel types! Congrats :)
Rad, thanks very much, I will definitely add a post-compo version when I have some time! I was thinking of adding a timed bomb placement pixel and maybe a shield pixel or something... lots of possibilities I have thought of but haven't tried yet.
I like the mechanic, nice AI and sounds. I suggest you to add who won in multiplayer mode, because it is hard to tell when 2 masses of pixels collide.
Extremely fun game, it really needs more levels though.. maybe nearly-infinite (scrolling) level? I'd love to play more of this :) Huge amount of potential.. online mode for more than two people would be beyond awesome
This game is great. Good idea and well executed. Gets addictive. Well done.
I loved this idea - it was really entertaining to play, although sometimes I died within a second or two of starting a level :(
Would be better with some more competitive AI and something to do other than just killing the AI, but still a great effort.
I love this. Totally unexpected play, and then lvl 3 really opens it up :)
Great concept! Quite often I've died immediately after starting the level, it would be nice to keep the game paused at the beginning, so that the player could check out his surroundings first and get ready.
A good idea, its just a bit to chaotic right now. Haven't tried 2-players but i guess thats were this one shines. Too bad the AI killed itself a lot of times. Maybe make it more structured, so that it is not so completely random?
This game was TOTALLY AWESOME! This was so much fun to play.
Although it did sound like I was carrying a bunch or birds around.
Great idea, great design. I was sad when the fourth level was over. I enjoyed gathering a huge cloud of blocks and ramming into things, but I also enjoyed trying to catch blocks in strategic locations to build the best "blob" (especially the orange ones). I almost wished the blocks didn't spawn in so fast, because I usually just gave up be strategic and went for "gotta grab 'em all".
Either way, though, it's great.
I guess this is a simplified Captain Forever... but in which enemies can also attach parts. I think it fits the theme more than most other games. I liked it :) I guess this can only get better if you add physics and some sort of behaviour to the enemies (in other words: if you continue developing this I will definitely play it)
I liked it, but I felt the colours weren't working hard enough to distinguish themselves from eachother, some white blocks killed you, others just slowed you down, orange blocks are good, but the slightly darker orange blocks I thought were just the same ones at first!
Really good! I had almost the same idea (but more focused on collisions and building and not as run-n-gun), but i didn't make it nearly as far! I really like how there is some strategy to how you construct yourself, and you have to adapt your behavior on the fly.
Hey, this is a realy good idea! You need to make a real game out of this. Oh, and I have stucked sometimes and was fast without blue pixels on me but that's all.

Wow, this was more fun than I expected! I really think you can make something out of this. I kept thinking of myself as a rabble rouser, who kept gathering followers who then in turn served as instruments of my cause. Some were collateral, some were militant, some were highly mobile. Hah, anyway, that's pushing it for a bunch of cubes on a screen, but hey, I had fun with it.
