August 24th-27th 2012 :: Theme: Evolution
Hey LDers! Here it is! Orb!
Play through generations of monsters by learning new traits and abilities as you go! The longer you play, the more generations you'll play as and the more traits you'll have!
Orb is a platformer with some beautiful brawl-like combat. 'Mario' your way over your enemies, or give them the ol' One-Two Punch! Different traits will give you different abilities, both passive and active! So be sure to mix and match!
Controls:
WASD: move/jump
SPACE: jump
E: interact/pickup
ENTER: attack
We hope you love Orb as much as we loved making it for you!
Please leave us a comment and tell us what you think! Whether it's good, bad, or ugly! We'd love to have the feedback and try to improve our skills as game devs so we can continue to make games that people love!
We will def be sure to check out your own game if you leave us a comment and rating!
And hey, maybe if we get enough feedback, we'll add a list of what each trait does!
Thanks guys and Happy Voting!

Awesome game! Reminds me of kirby in a sense, but being able to have multiple powers is even better.
Very cool game. I too liked how you gain the powers of enemies. I also found it interesting how towards the end you would see enemies that had all of the wierd evolutionary traits piled into one.
Good work.
Great work. I think the collision needs some work though. I got hurt a lot when I jumped on (non-spikey) enemies.
Very cool, would love to see you spend some time balancing the game more. Perhaps introduce new abilities/enemies more slowly along with puzzles that test the new abilities you evolve.
Good game. I really liked changing abilities to complete areas of the maps. Was there sound?
Thank you everyone who has played the game! :D Unfortunetly, there wasn't any sound. We never got around to it.
And we're considering working on it post-LD. Just depends on what everything thinks.
So again, thank you to everyone who has played it!
Really liked this one - liked how you did the evolution - and it was a fun play through.
I liked the evolution schema of evolution and the possibility of combinations. But the effect of some of them wasn't very clear, like the spikes and eyes. The art is great. I enjoyed it!
This was pretty fantastic, I love the generation breading system. It's quick to play and the controls were easy.
@sampyxis: Thank you very much!
@davisan: Thanks! Perhaps I should post a list of what each of the traits do.
@darkstarmatryx: Thanks! We're glad you enjoyed it!
definately one of the best games I've seen so far! your concept was excellently implemented, and very well thought out, really enjoyed your game!
That was great! The whole evolution plus mating concept is really good!
The collision needs some work but it's a great game :)
Nice game, and an interesting idea. I wouldn't say the combat was Brawl-like but it was good nonetheless.
I like the idea and everything, but you could make jumping better and easier because sometimes you jump just next to an enemy and take damage. Anyway the game is wonderful and I like the end screen where it shows every generation.
Very nice. The collision detection was a little off... but other than that I thought it was great. Well done incorporating the theme.
Really liked the multiple traits available. Game also looks very good and solid.
Collisions in gameplay sometimes feel a bit off and there should be a bit longer period of invincibility after hitting an enemy. Now you often hit many enemies in a row and the screen is just blinking and you're being thrown around.
Good job otherwise.
This is a really good game. Nice play, the graphics are cool! You really have something here to build on. Great job!
Quite fun, and it was a blast messing with their abilities!
Thank you everyone who has played our game! It means so much to us!

I loved the concept of evolving based on how you defeated enemies!
