August 24th-27th 2012 :: Theme: Evolution
Fly into things,
Gain Levels,
Every 10 you evolve.
I'm still working on the gameplay and scoring right up until the last minute (1 Hour left).
Calling this version 0, even though there is still way more that needs to be done.
Currently the game is randomly generated terrain, I haven't designed any levels. I'm still wondering if I should generate it.
The collision system is mostly done, but without finished artwork the collisions are pretty pointless
The gameplay mechanics ar only partially fleshed out (eg you gain levels for colliding with terrain too)
The music evolves as your player levels up. As you get better, the music gets more intense !
A couple of sound loops (also open source), the rest is just instruments in FL Studio
Fonts are open source
The art is all my own badly drawn animations.
After looking at a bunch of games I will try to rate my own game objectively:
1/5 Overall
2/5 Innovation
1/5 Fun
3/5 Theme
2/5 Graphics
2/5 Audio
1/5 Humor
2/5 Mood
Comments : About the only thing worth playing this game for is the surprise at the final evolution phase. There is an interesting attempt at music.

Ran out of time to get all the evolutions linked up. I have half the animations, half the different controls, and the music for each stage of evolution. Just ran out of time at the end trying to include everything
I can appreciate how much effort went into all the different drawings.
Game isn't really finished at all. I'm sure you had a lot of interesting systems in mind, shame you didn't get them in. Better luck next time man!
I liked flying around, and the animated butterfly at the end is really neat. Linking the evolution of the bug to changes in the music is fun as well. There didn't seem to be much of a game here, but that probably comes next. Everything functioned pretty smoothly in my browser. Nice work...
I like the animation of the butterfly.
It`s too bad that you didn't finish the game.
I could have used something like flashpunk or flixel, and done a bunch of pixel art, but I wanted to try do something different. And I like my vectors
Amazing music, good graphics, but no real challenge - just flying around. You should probably focus more on the gameplay and less on the graphics... :)
Even though this isn't really a game yet it required an amazing amount of work and game play could be added on top of this to create something really neat. Great job.
I like the evolutions a lot, but I wish there was a more logical way of evolving :)
I have a nasty fear of anything with too many legs, but your game was fun.
Great potential, it's a shame you ran out of time! I hope you get a chance to complete this project in the future!
When I first played it, I hit a bug (like, a coding bug ;-)) where I would instaniously evolve to the max level. Can't reproduce that, though. Second play was fine.
It would've been nice if there was some "eating" animation or so. The music's not really my cup of tea - but the fact that it is connected to the gameplay is cool.
I've also seen that bug with the instant level up, the main point being that the insects should be removed after colliding, so they cant be triggered again
I also encountered the instant level up bug, so I was kind of confused until I read the comments. Restarting, I got to experience the normal bug evolution. I really liked the music and the graphics were pretty decent.
The music getting more complex as you level up was a very nice touch. It's too bad you couldn't get more of the gameplay finished; it looks like your game had lots of potential.
Not much here, but butterfly's wing animation was pretty nice.

Cool evolutions. I wasn't entirely sure what was going on. I ran into the same bug repeatedly and became a butterfly eventually? What are the differences between the evolutions?
