August 24th-27th 2012 :: Theme: Evolution
Haunted is a procedurally generated explorative horror platformer. It is probably the first of its kind ;)
I recommend you to play with headphones as this game heavily relies on 2D sounds.
If you come across any bugs or crashes, please put the contents of the game_errors.log in the comments.
The theme comes back in the level, the level is constantly eroding while you are playing and the level also changes depending on how long you have played the game.
I hope you enjoy playing this game as much as I did making it :)
NOTE: If you unpack the game somewhere, you have access to some features that would normally not exist.

Very good game, especially the sound effects.
It did feel a little unimaginative given that it seemed very much like 2D Slender with the theme of evolution thrown in at the last minute.
But overall, very fun, though I only got 6/7 artefacts at best.
Certainly had an atmosphere, though I found it was too low contrast to see things that were lit. The audio is nice, though I couldn't tell if it was random or related to game events.
not really focused on the theme, but a cool concept none the less.
Excellent game!
No sound running under Wine on Mac. Oh well, I won't rate you down for it, seeing as you had no control over that.
Scary game, nice light mechanic, I like that. The ghost was quite scary.
I managed to get 6/7 artifacts, and survived for 131 seconds.
The minimap helps so much!
Congrats, great game.
The horror aspect works in this game. Made me feel panic in some way if you get haunted and dig your way through the dirt. Nice atmosphere.
Respective the graphics you should make more clear what is passable background and what is a blocking tile. Additionally, the character is a bit to small and the overall contrast too low. I had 5 of 7 artifacts.
I think the game could benefit from a slightly closer zoom on the player. The low brightness coupled with the small visible area and tiny player sprite make it really hard to make out what is going on.
I liked the atmosphere and moody audio a lot. Is there any way to actually escape the ghosts though? I've tried to run away, but they keep chasing me until I die!
Wow. Very cool game. Simplistic, yet for some reason I was genuinely scared of that ghost thing. Good job.
Interesting concept, and very claustrophobic as well. I admit it, I ended up getting haunted right as my back was to a wall and I couldn't dig myself away fast enough.
I think the game could do with being a bit larger in dimensions, and possibly with a little bit more field of view (but not much)
Great! Couldn't find all the artifacts but the eroding terrain was very interesting! Nice job!
I think the light was kind of broken, might be my computer though.
Great mood. The first ghost I saw did scare me!
My main grip is that the difficulty mostly depends on the location of the artifacts which seems very very random.
I think controls and gfx are ok with this game. I like the eerie noises and the map is a good addition. :)
I too built upon the evolving land idea. But never thought about doing a spooky game. Nice!
I think you should have something against the spooks. Like if the artifacts have a charge and you could use it as a shield. Because like this you can't do anything if one shows up and that is a big game killer imho. I mean you get bored fast because there isn't anything else to do in the game.
What bad luck.
You think you made the first horror 2D platformer, but I just played another LD game which was also a horror 2D. Nice moody look and good sounds (nice use of stereo!).

Nice work! Moody atmosphere with the sound (and lack of sound most of the time). I only managed to get 6/7 at best, the last one was in sight but I couldn't get to it.
It got some jump scares on me when that piano bashing sound played. :)
