Read the help, start off with a bright white light and plenty of cells (i'd suggest 5000-8000 as most of these won't actually appear on the light)
Couldn't have anything more to do with evolution, and it is a great concept. I've no idea how you did this in only 1 source file (no OOP? =p) but it's great. I couldn't get mine to evolve to not require light, though.
I just made a linux version, since I am on linux:

It could help people who don't want/know/can compile the game or use wine.
Also, good game.
Amazing. Once I found out how it works it was fun playing around with my own little population. You should evolve this into a game where you have to travel with your pixels from start to finish, or reashing a target-populationsize or something. kind of gamification. but I like this entry as is. Had fun. Well done!
I could not get any living cells. The help wasn't really helpful.
I have to agree that the help isnt really helpful. I finally was able to spawn life and played around with it for 20 minutes. Its a nice little, well, call it simvolution. I find it hard to call it a game. I defined myself the goal to get cells that don't need food to survive. I got them. But something is missing.

I can't get any living cells for some reason.
