The house

by DalsGames - Jam Entry

*OBSERVE*
DO NOT RATE BASED ON THE POST COMPO, BUT PLAY IT IF YOU WANT TO FEEL HOW THE GAME SHOULD HAVE BEEN!

Well, finally the game was finished! So finished it can be in 72 hours and with our experiance.
This time was the first time that we coded the game in pure JAVA. We usually use Game Maker but this time we wanted to create it with JAVA.

We have a very unigue idea regarding the theme but it was not very well applyed due to lack of time!

The plot is as following:
You are trapped inside a house! You have to find you way out! To do this you will have to find tools which will help you out (You evolve).

We hope that we will be able to create something bigger with this game as we think that it was good fun to develop in JAVA.

Well, it scared me. Wasn't able to win though, I think from bugs but unsure!

There seems to be a bug at the end of the game. When you won, you can still lose points by being hit by the ghost, although the ghost is not displayed any more.

Well fun little game. Although it was very very buggy. I did not see the ghosts all the time, somehow things changed randomly, and I think at one time I was so stuck that I couldn't get any further.

But it was interesting while it lasted. Could have way more mood by adding graphical stuff though... but it was nice.

Many bugs, it's a pity. Graphics are correct and I love ghosts ' sound =)

"You evolved so much that you escaped" :D "Score: 0" D:
I liked this game. The audio was good, the graphics were nice. Sure there were bugs here and there (I walked through the door in the top left, but wasn't tp'd anywhere, so it threw an ArrayIndexOutOfBoundsException...) (the ghosts just... didn't work. I think if they had been omitted altogether then the game would have come off as much more polished, and still just as fun). I did wonder how you collected 'coins'?
Overall, I think it has great potential. I liked the graphics, and the ghost noise was great. Good job!

Thanks all for the great feedback! We know there were lots and lost of bugs, specially with the ghost! We are working on a post competition edition. We hope that it will be free from the most sever bugs!

In that edition we have made it a lot clearer what you should do and the game is a bit harder.

@vilya Yes you can! Stupid coding of me thought! You have to have the key first to be able to get the wand xD Does not seem very logical I know but that is much better in the post edition :)

Thanks once again for all the feedback! :D

Nice sprites, nice use of sound effects.

Just a note, for those who want to use the TheHousePost.jar file linked as a post-compo version, you'll need to

$ java -classpath TheHousePost.jar se.dalsit.main.GameComponent

because

$ java -jar TheHousePost.jar
Failed to load Main-Class manifest attribute from
TheHousePost.jar

will not work. Devs, see e.g.

http://docs.oracle.com/javase/tutorial/deployment/jar/appman.html
