August 24th-27th 2012 :: Theme: Evolution
------------------------
Story
------------------------
The Curiosity Rover first moved on Mars on the 22nd of August 2012. Humanity rejoiced as our most advanced rover yet began to explore the Red Planet.
It's mission: Find out if Mars could ever have supported life, and check radiation levels for a possible manned visit to Mars in the future.
This story is a lie.
What NASA didn't tell you is that Aliens had visited Mars before, leaving all the humans they abducted on there. Sadly one of them was a zombie.
Now NASA has sent up the Curiosity, a mark IV Death Robot, with only one mission objective.
DESTROY ALL ZOMBIES.

About
------------------------
This game was made for the Ludam Dare 24 on the theme of evolution.
Because of this, our zombies evolve over time to become more and more immune to the weapons you use. So eventually the starting rifle will become useless!
See how many zombies you can kill before Curiosity is Destroyed!

Nice music and customization, but the grind was a bit too much for me to enjoy it.
Fun game! The intro and the presentation are fun.
The gameplay is cool but the spawning of the zombies is pretty weird and they just overwhelm you after a while since the upgrades are very expensive (I played at noob difficulty) It just needs some balancing but it's still cool, especially the idea of Curiosity :)
Great concept, excellent gameplay, and one of the few game that has a good implementation of an evolution mechanic.
However, unless I'm missing something, upgrades are WAAAAY too expensive. It takes ages to be able to collect enough XP.
NOTE: This entry doesn't appear to provide source code, which is a REQUIREMENT of the competition.
Also: It's a shame that there appears to be no sounds other than music?
Oh, and it ran fine on Mac. When I was done, I had to force quit, but that's about it.
You should rename Bomb.png to bomb.png and the folder Menu to menu. Otherwise the game didn't run on Linux.
Apart from that, I liked that the robot had an AK on mars. Fun to play and catchy music, though the upgrades were really expensive!
Interesting game! I agree about it needing some balancing. I played for a while, couldn't be bothered to get all the upgrades though :P
Oops, I didn't realize that this was a Jam entry and therefore no source is required!
Pro-tip: if you costantly move in one direction zombies will never reach you. Until you need to stop, and need to go back.
I only got to the shotgun, after that it just took to long to get something and the zombies just killed me after some time
I wish I could have played, but it crashes on me after the loading screen, I'm on windows xp, and there wasn't any specific reason for it to close.
OH GOD, it is so satisfying! Such a great concept. It plays very solid as well. A great submission, congrats!
A pretty complete and basicly fun game. If I were to complain about something, it'd be that the progression is pretty slow to get started. I spent a few minutes just standing on a hill killing zombies without having to move at all. Some encouragement to move and some brakka brakka noises for the guns would be nice too! Still, I had fun!
Nicely structured around the theme. I like the zombies evolving but i felt they did this way to slowly. Also after about 20 second i was ready to use another gun but it took far to long to be able to purchase and upgrade things (i only borght the shotgun before i stopped playing). I commend you for having all these options but with more options these needs to be more balancing and play testing done. Maybe having access to all the guns and being able to upgrade them all much quicker and the zombies become resilient much faster would play better. Also it felt pretty off having the projectiles effected by gravity.
All that being said, it was an enjoyable game and a really good effort!
This game was very satisfying. Good humor, good music, and lots of bullets.
"Do you like boom? I like boom. Zombies don't like boom"
I laughed so much!
Nice game. I think the upgrades must to be cheaper, because it was really long time when i could afford to buy something.
I really liked it and think you made a solid entry. Awesome job!
I downloaded the game and turned around to see the news on the TV. They spoke for Curiosity on mars and stuff about it. I turn back at my PC and I see the intro.... I laughed so much xD that I want to rate Humor over 9000
That was probably the single most fun I've had out of all the games I've played so far. Deep down, you know you're right about Curiosity's true purpose... ;)
I do not know why everybody else hasn't clicked on that Curiosity is obviously a zombie killing death bot.
Well done game. gets a bit repetitive after awhile, but thats to be expected.
Particle systems are very nice. I like the sprites animation and the music, i think you are generating the ground dynamically, no?
Well, the zombies are all black people, why?
When you walk and dont stop, the zombies cant catch you xD
And the machine gun work more like a firehose? hahaha, funny!
Thanks :D
Yes! I use Math.sin(i*50.0)
They are zombie coloured, not black or white. This is why Zombification will abolish racism.
The map is not inifite.
Fun-hose.
I love the real Curiosity, and yet I still approve of this game. It's a silly adventure and the zombies often cluster up for easy killing but it's just zany enough to be fun!

It is so good, I forgot my pasta was boiling!
