August 24th-27th 2012 :: Theme: Evolution
You control a little worm that needs to collect apples and eggs. Help your worms to get food, increase in numbers and maybe evolve. It is all up to you.
Bug fix:
Now you don't start in level 2:)
FOOD BUCKET AND APPLES:
You collect apples to increase your food. You can see how much food you have in the top left of the screen(your food bucket). Remember to look often at your food bucket, because if you run out of food your units will slowly die.
UNITS AND EGGS:
Your units are in the bottom left. The units will evolve at some point. This means they eat more food! No units = lose. You get more units by collecting eggs. More units = more evolution score = Evolved units.
ENEMIES AND HOW TO KILL THEM:
The enemy will send out a unit to attack your base. So you need to send out a unit to fight him. You do this by pressing G. Remember that they are stronger then you, so you need send out more than one unit to kill it. So you need a lot of eggs and food so they don't die.
WHY IS THE GAME OVER?:
- Do you have units and enough food?
- The unit you are controlling will die if it falls outside of the map.
- The unit you are controlling will die if it hit an enemy (in level 2 the enemy is to the right).
- If the enemy gets to your base, you will lose the game.

Got a game over screen but didn't know why :-S (nothing hit me) Besides that it's cool.
It always seems to end with some mutant chicken thing running across the bottom of the screen and then I lose. No idea what collecting apples or diamonds achieves either.
Couldn't get my "worm" to evolve, and died when the first enemy hit the box on the left. no way to stop him. besides to that, well done! some sort of audio would have been nice
Thanks for all your comments and feedback. Maybe it is not clean how the game works.

You should probably move the instructions to the top of this page, in case people don't read the comments before they play.
Ah ok, I've replayed it after reading your instructions and had a lot more fun this time. It wasn't too taxing but I do like the idea of some resource management while doing some platforming. Would've been cool to have different pickups evolving my units in different ways but 48 hours is always the major factor with these things. Anyway, much better now I know what to do.
Thank you wumpus. I would have liked to make more levels and different evolution states, but as you said 48 hours is not long.
btw I loved your game. The A.I was really good.
Really good! The physics are a bit floaty feeling, and the graphics aren't great, but the core game is a lot of fun. I really like how you have to hunt for things and manage your base at the same time - I could see with more time this developing into a really intricate game - the meat of it is already there. Plus, it really sticks to the theme, so great work!
Loved it! It could use a lot of polish of course, but the whole platformer + sidescrolling-RTS thing is brilliant.
Cool game bro dude, was a bit easy but when I got a feel for it I enjoyed it.

I felt that the physics were a little too loose. The frog takes too much time to land, and he is a little bit slow. Doesn't feel so natural, you know?
I like the concept, just wished the physics were a little tighter!
