I liked the upgrades and add-ons! Animations for all of the different legs would of been nice but overall I had fun!
Daang this was great! I love the graphics, and the gameplay is simple yet really entertaining!
loved it! also, the music was awesome! what did you use for it? btw i lost an evolution of a leg when i evolved it to snake and in the same step clicked 'current'(50). is that a bug or intended?
Awesome Game! It's fast to play, you get upgrades, the art and music is sweet. My only grip is that the upgrades take too long to get. Otherwise, great job.
Great, great game! The concept is really simple, yet addicting and quite replayable: you're always waiting to see how the next evolution of the tentaclees will work.
Audio is great as well, the main track is really catchy :)
Congrats! :)
Thanks everyone! For the music I used Skale Tracker, basically a Windows version of Fast Tracker II. The instrument set I used was "nes_in_xm" by 01010111. Been listening to viking metal lately, so some of that influence seeped in there...
Had a ton of fun with this game. It's something I would definitely keep and play again after the competition.
Extremely fun!!! Great audio, great graphics, cool gameplay. As far as improvements, I would add a multiplier that gave you more DNA the more enemies you killed in a row (with at least one leg destroying an enemy), and an instant DNA boost for killing 2 or more simultaneously. I always got a bit of a rush when I chained kills together, but it would be a lot rushier if DNA were awarded. Also this would speed up the progression, and I think the evolution is a little slow. All in all, though, amazing game! You sure you did this in 48 hours?
Well, I've scored this highly... usually I'm a little hesistant with non-web entries, but when I saw the picture I knew I had to try this out. Really good fun, the elephant arm is nice game mechanic. Would be nice to control rotation with the mouse as there were some points where I was going backwards and forwards by clicking once and never quite able to get the alignment right. Anyway, a great idea implemented really nicely. Well done! :)
Pretty good. Could use some more animations, but the graphics, sound, and gameplay were solid. It may just be my irritation at accidentally quitting when trying to pause, but the progression seemed a bit slow and i never got to a point where my DNA gain notable increased.
This is the first game that I've rated in this LD that my daughter wanted to keep playing. Everything else I play will now be judged against this. Hilarious, and on theme too!
Hello! I'm a guy from Shigi's forum. :) Thought to also post here since I already have an account anyway.
This game is LOL! :D Congrats for making it in 48 hours! This is awesome!
My only sorrow is that the window is too large and doesn't fit on my screen (the bottom is covered by my taskbar, so I don't see how much DNA I have). And I agree with the above that upgrades come pretty slowly. So it would need a little more balancing - something that one doesn't have time for in 48 hours. ;)
Haha, that was fun and funny. Good job! I liked that your progression rate was skill-based, but some might not :)
Me and my Dev team sat down and played LD gmaes today. this particular game gave me soo many lolz XD
Fun little game- the upgrades and evolving your legs makes it very addicting. nice1
That was so much fun! i love the idea and the gameplay was awesome! I wish there was a save game so i could pickup where i left off!!!
I'd love to check out the game, but I don't have Windows :( Can you post a video of the gameplay?
This is one of the best games I have played of this or any ludum dare. The game play is so addictive I sat and played for almost an hour and a half. I wish there was some way I could save my abomination so I don't feel like that time was wasted when I exited the program.
Really fun and wonderful graphics! I wish I could see the later waves but I was too bad to get even a tiny bit of DNA...
Awesome game, possible the best I've played so far. I would like to see this polished and receive a full release!
Very nice idea! Lots of fun and a replayability through the roof.
And the music just rocks! :)
Congratulations!
Awesome game with great potential of tactic planning and organs arangement. But I think it could be useful if turtle shield could block ships. Btw I love your soundtrack!
I registered to LD just to comment on this. I'm addicted already to the game!!!!! hahaha anyways the Snake-tacle reminds me very much of Peashooter from PvZ... same color, same price, same function :)))))
Awesome game! One of the best I've found so far. This octopus is pretty badass.
That was great! The music is really fantastic, and the general craziness of the concept makes the game very entertaining indeed.
Really great game. Awesome graphics! In such a short time too. Very well done!
Hilarious and well done. It's great fun to play, although it's a bit cumbersome with my one-button-mouse.
Works flawlessly with WINE.
Would someone rip me away from my computer screen? Because this ROCKS. I've played it longer than any other entry. Upgrade games have a real potential for LD, it seems. Probably because level design is so minimal.
Hilarious! I am spinning an octopus around in circles to defend myself against submarines. Why? Who cares.
Loved it.
Ton of gameplay time out of a game made in a weekend, great job :)
Most fun entry I've played so far! what a great game. It reminds me a lot of radical fishing (the first one, not ridiculous fishing) both in the art style, the humor and the leveling up. This is a great example of keeping it simple to maximum effect!
Extremely fun. Very addicting, I spent like a half hour playing. Nicely incorporates theme, very playable. I think it's one of the most playable games here. Definitely a winner.
This game looks and sounds fun, just wish there was an osx version for me to play):
This was great fun. I wish I had the option to experiment a bit more with my octopus build, although I guess after you reach 8 limbs, there's not much more content to play anyhow. I got up to about wave 20 at best.
Wooooaaaah. Amazing entry. The only thing is that it started to get a bit grindy after having 7 legs with almost one of everything, until the much later waves. But yeah, this was really good. I enjoyed the variety.
Very fun. My only gripe about the gameplay is that when you lose, the wait to get back to later waves is so, so long..
Graphics were neat, music and sounds worked well too, and gameplay-wise very addicting, but a bit of a grindquest
Nice game. Interesting original idea, good humor too but it really takes way too long to get new upgrades, I only got to see a few types of leg before giving up due the repetition of having to start the game again.
This looks really funny. I wish there was a Mac or web version I could try.
Really enjoyed this game. Played it quite a bit. Great idea. Super fun graphics.
This is still my favorite compo entry of all, even after playing over 75 entries! Great job. Very addictive!
This was a kick-butt and a cool game. I had lots of fun planning what limbs I would get and where I would place them, my best build being 4 porcupines, 3 elephants, and 1 turtle got me to Wave 26.
If the upgrade menu showed an image of the octopus so you could click the leg you wanted to upgrade that would help a lot with clarity. It would also be cool if you could drag the legs around and swap their positions on the menu if you want to experiment with layout instead having to buy new upgrades when all you may want is a position change.
Other than that really cool, I think I played this entry the longest of all so far (I really wanted to try some builds), great job man.
This game is incredible, everything about it kicks ass. I probably played it for 3 hours before I had to stop myself. It's my absolute favourite Ludum Dare entry and honestly one of the best games I've played in a little while. You seriously need to hurry up and make an IOS/Android version or something funny like that before someone rips you off, because this is seriously gold. Awesome music too, kept me totally pumped the whole way through!
Absolutely brilliant, I really liked that death was just an experience and a chance to go again and better yourself. The upgrades really made sense as well. Great game

Awesome game! I really enjoyed the add-ons and the increasing difficult of the ships. Such ridiculous combinations. Good work!
