August 24th-27th 2012 :: Theme: Evolution
Darwin has created an experimental evolution ray, which rapidly evolves life! But something's gone horribly wrong... The evolution ray mutates life into horrific winged tentacle beings!
Bat-Monkey has escaped from Darwin's evil lair and stolen the evolution gun! Help Bat-Monkey escape by shooting the glowing objects (bananas, mud puddles and horses) to rapidly evolve them and slow Darwin down!
It's a pretty hard game, but games these days are far to easy we say! It's good to have some good old fashioned difficulty every now and again.
Try to beat the developer high scores on our online score board!

Polished game! Pretty graphics and sound :) Have a lot of trouble with accidentally clicking outside of the window though :(
Difficult, but very addictive. Also, it could be great on mobile
Could be a very good mobile game. Had a few times where nothing showed up for me to shot though.
I can't run it, I get this when I try to run launch.bat:

Never mind, I replaced jre6 with jre7 in the batch file and it worked.
Charles Darwin as a mad scientist? Hahaha. This is quite a fun game! But it's taking every bit of self-restraint in my body to not open up a new tab in Chrome and go to that URL in the code that sends the scores to the online scoreboard! You might want to see about removing that hacked score of 9001, too, by the way. No, it's not mine.
Thanks for giving it a play and for all your feedback guys!
It is a pretty hard game or sure. You have to shoot about 2/3 objects (as well as jumping the obstacles) if you want to stay ahead of Octo-Darwin! We play tested this quite a bit and you'll always stay ahead of him if you shoot and dodge everything.
The procedural generation of objects isn't perfect but these are checks in place to make sure that you'll never get 3 obstacles in a row with nothing to shoot.
We've also just got a web version working for anyone having problems with the zip.
Any feedback is more than welcome!
The game was fun.In my first attempts the game looked very hard, but after a few minutes it was quite easy to play.
Graphics and music are also great.
The only thing I didn't like about this was the game not pausing when you click out of frame. Sooo many deaths to that, hehehe. Great job!
Yeah, we tried to fix that bit just didn't have the time to constrain the mouse or make it resolution independent (to make it full screen). Thanks for playing and for your feedback!
I got it working. I see the bug now that it does not work in admin mode. Pretty fun, but sometimes I never saw another banana and died when I felt like I was playing very well.
I missed to read the instructions first, so it was a bit confusing what I was supposed to shoot. The puddle had a really bad position since you had to place the mouse just precisely at the border, if you went outside you lost control.
Good crisp and smooth graphics, liked that!
Difficulty is not a problem, hard games can be the best of games. This game is not what I'd call hard, it is just unmediated. What I mean is, the level is too randomly generated. While this is a good idea for replay value, you need to do a lot of fine-tuning and polish the randomness.
Sometimes there's be no weapons to use and other times obstacles would be sent in droves. There needs to be some tweaking to the randomness system to make this game feel more fair.
When it worked right though, it was magical. Loads of fun and silly to boot. Nicely done.
Had fun even despite some regular "Java-lags" (at least within Chrome). The game may be a bit too unforgiving when it comes to missing only very few targets in combination with the small viewport.

Fun but I died a lot without seeing a single banana...
