I wrote a postmortem! Find it here: http://www.ludumdare.com/compo/2012/08/27/magenta-man-a-postmortem
You are Magenta-man, an elite mercenary trained in the various arts of killing
things and taking their stuff. You have been hired to protect a spaceship from
the evil robotic space-communists.
Lucky for you the ship carries a variety of weapons and upgrades that are yours
to use. For a price, of course.
Unlucky for you the communists also have access to various kinds of advanced
weaponry. They will equip themselves with whatever equipment has proven
successful in the past.
Are you a bad enough dude to stop the endless waves of space-commies?
CONTROLS:
WASD: Move
E: Purchase upgrade
Q: Destroy upgrade (You can do this to make the store generate a brand-spanking
new one. NOTE: This will cost you 10 capitalist spacebucks)
Left click: Melee attack
Right click: Ranged attack

Really sweet graphics. The enemies should come in wawes though, give the player some downtime to pick his upgrades.
Great game but the game balance need some tweaking. It's too difficult to take the time to upgrade at start and in later game, the enemy waves are still linear so the game become easier. Ho and this upgrade-bundle pods idea is genius, I think I want to use that in my games sooner or later ! :)
Can't run it on XP, it says "the procedure entry point_ftol2 could not be located in the dynamic link library msvcrt.dll". I probably don't have something installed.
Really nice combat feel. I love how strong the upgrades are, they make it a little too easy later on though.
Found it great fun to play! Like previously stated, it needs some difficulty tweaking. Also: I'm not seeing any connection to the theme - am I missing something?
The ragdoll effects are interesting, but there does not seem to be an awful lot of gameplay.
Liked the idea, but could not really see the upgrades changing game play.
Problems removing game files. Bug with losing health below zero (spaceship)
I liked the idea but it's really because enemies don't spawn in waves, so we don't have any rest and I wasn't able to choose easily upgrades for my character :s
Interesting game. The gameplay was fun, although I think needlessly complex - there wasn't really a need to jump, and the targeted aiming wasn't as useful as just shooting in the direction you were facing would be, so you could have left those out. I found it pretty hard to aim using a trackpad mouse, where left and right clicking are tough to do for a game. The graphics and upgrades were interesting, though lo-fi; I liked the background spinning squares a lot. I couldn't really figure out what I was meant to do, but I gathered after a while that I was supposed to defend the blue thing on the left. Nice work; felt like it was on the road to being something pretty cool.
Awesome game, looked really good but was kinda easy in the end.

Cool game, I died at first but then I was rocking some kind of apocalyptic gatling-laser and spawn camping the space commies. The melee attack seems kind of pointless... maybe if enemies evolved armor -- and different kinds of armor protected against different attacks -- that would be cool. Love the graphics, the screenshots don't do it justice, you need to see it in action.
