On the Origin of Block
source is on git hub!
On the Origin of Block is a 2D platformer.
Your goal is to mate blocks together to get the right shape to unlock doors and to reach the goal. To do that you need to solve puzzles.
This was my first ever Ludum Dare, hope you like it.
Any feedback is welcome!
Note: There was a bug with the game that ruined it so I pulled it out of the 48 hour comp and fixed the bug and resubmitted it into the 72 hour jam. Fixed this up after work today so I had a little time to add a few more levels too!

I liked your entry. My only issue was that the controls where a little sticky and I sometimes got stuck inside another block requiring me to restart the level. This happened on the last level a few times. All in all I liked the idea for a puzzle game although more depth would be nice.
Hey I took this out of the 48 hour compo and re-submitted it into the jam cause I fixed the bug with the Goals.
I also had some time to add a few more levels.
Interesting concept. Controls/mechanics seem a bit overwhelming at first.
Would be interesting to see where this goes!
Really nice combination of mechanics. This seems like something really interesting to expand on.
I really liked the concept and I'd love to see it expanded. Sure, the controls felt a little wonky, particularly mating things, but I thought it was quite clever.
Had a tough time doing some of the things. I like the music and the color choices in the graphics.
Clever concept for game, but didn't grab me as being fun. Still, definitely well executed game for time frame. Good job.
Nice little idea.
There's a control issue in that mating requires the use of the left shift key, but the game doesn't specify that the right shift doesn't work, so I bumbled around for abit.
Great idea, liked the combining of block DNA to get to the solution
This didn't work for me, the web one just loaded a black box and the windows one just opens and immediately closes. Sorry
Like the concept, although I find the logic somewhat confusing. Maybe the execution of some of the mechanics could be made simpler and more intuitive?
There are some nice puzzles in here. I wish you had time to make more levels! Great job!
I like this game very much. The whole mating and how different kind of blocks behave, I like it.
Great idea for a puzzle platformer and interesting take on the theme. I got stuck pretty fast.
I don't think I've ever had so much fun playing tetris. Ok I know it's not tetris but you know what I mean
Great game man! I like the puzzles, your music and specially mechanics.
Wow, brilliant idea! Some little glitches, but nonetheless pleasant to play.
Very interesting concept. You set up a nice difficulty curve which fit well. After a while it gets a bit tedious, but overall it's very fun.
Very cool. Good music. Graphics weren't great, but they worked. Very unique idea; quite fun. Controls and jump heights could have used explanation.
I really enjoyed that. A more fluid control scheme, like clicking on blocks to select them instead of cycling through them all, would have improved this even more.
Fun and interesting game. Found it hard to remember all the controls, but enjoyed playing nonetheless.
Cool! I love this, the puzzles are fun and make sense, it's a great use of the theme and a creative idea that works really well.
The music adds a lot to the game too.
I played the whole game.
This is the first LD applet I've seen since my first visit to LD (yes, I'm a noob). Cool concept and nice to look at. I'm a bit bias because I like Java. I think I broke your game after the SHIFT + Collide round as I found my 'player' suspended with nothing to interact with. Someone should employ me full time to test games because if they can be broken, I will break them. I wouldn't invite you to watch me test your games because the overwhelming feeling of pity at my ineptitude would cause you to cry. But this inability to game has a flip side which allows me to break! Keep up the good work. I'm looking forward to what you do next.
This is my favorite game of the comp that I've played. Orignal mechanics fantastic sound and visuals. Five stars from me.

It is nice to see so many games made by libgdx here :)
Overall, the idea is not bad but I find the gameplay not smooth enough (f.e. the collisions between blocks, or the fact that i don't need to have exactly the same shape to fill the block in order to use it) and a little bit confusing.
