No game on Firefox either! Please fix, the game looks great, we want to play it! :D
Not working in Opera, either (no surprise after reading the other comments and testing it on Chrome too, but it was the first browser I tried to play in).
Sorry guys- we have 30 more minutes ;) We are making a few tweaks and bug fixes then we will upload it. Sorry!
Game is now uploaded and ready for you to check out. Thanks and sorry for the concern! We made it in time :) Raced the clock for the last hour there!
This game has the best voice acting ever. And awesome use of selective breeding. Of all the characteristic breeding games this Jam I've seen so far, this one was the most intuitive. Kudos!
Wonderful game! Top notch!
Love the idea and very smooth execution.
Works great for me. :) Really glad to see a game that actually involves evolution as the basic mechanic.
Interesting game. A bit repetitive, but it's not too bad. Fun, nonetheless.
Cool graphics! Reminded me Binding of Isaac somehow. Game itself seems to have promising puzzle mechanics. Good job.
Love your graphics. They remind me of the Where the Wild Things Are. The game has very unique gameplay, almost puzzle based. Good work. Btw I think I found an interesting bug, I selected one individual and meant to select another but instead the guy just walked by itself into the tent and a baby appeared lol
Nicely polished but I just end up breeding a single pair over and over again.
Cool concept but could use a bit of fleshing out I think. Unfortunately for me a lot of the game seemed to using one pair for the whole round to try and pass and their seemed to be a lack of control over what you had left to breed with in later levels. Sound and graphics worked well, great concept, and matched the theme pretty damn well. Not a bad game all-round :)
Nicely polished game, but I really struggled to predict what traits the offspring would have and sometimes I would start a level with no parents that had a required trait (does this mean that no offspring can have it?).
This game's idea was excellent, also the graphics and sounds were great!
Very interesting game, a great take on the theme!
I found that the game was a bit too difficulty, I couldn't get past of the 4th or 5th event -> this was mainly because the breeding animation took too long, an I could never get more than 3-4 offspring. Maybe making the game allow twins would help?
I really like the humor and concept of this. Was fun trying to get my monsters evolve. At certain points the game gave me the impossible, Like short arms when the last event was long arms.
>:(
I loved the sounds the chaman made. For some reason all my females always died, and I facepalmed when I saw that males could reproduce by themselves.
One of the best uses of the theme I've seen yet! My only complaints are about difficulty due to the short breeding time and the (seeming) lack of recessive traits. Once you've bred what seems to be a race of the same traits it seems like you've lost all the others completely and there's never enough time nor do enough of the previously unfavorable traits survive to develop them when needed.
With some polish this could be a great game Mendeleev would have been proud of :)
Looks great. Sounds and plays a bit like a level of Spore. Very professionally done. Once I choose wrong and after an event I was left with the same kind of monsters. Unfortunately with this game mechanic it can never change. Maybe a little randomness?
Bu a very good game for this theme!
Fantastic game, looks brilliant and fits the theme really well. It was a real challenge to maintain genetic diversity.
Great game idea for the theme. I liked the sound and graphics. Pretty great mood with this consistent style.
I liked it a lot, it was pretty difficult. I think with a little balancing to make it a bit easier would make it a really cool game. I spent a lot of time in the game breeding the same two just hoping to get one that would survive.
Great game. Very well related to the theme. Graphics are great and funny looking too. The music was very appropriate to the game. A really good job make of this game. Polished and professional. Just think how much better it would be with more time!
It's hard not to rate this 5/5 all across the board. A funny and innovative gameplay that fits perfectly the theme, awesome and consistent graphics, a pretty decent audio...
This game could go as-is to Armor Games/Kongregate and probably meet some moderate success, and it's been done in 72 hours. Congrats YellowBouncyBall team!
Nice work! Despite I don't like this genre=) It's really fun and addictive!
Woha, that was a really good game! Maybe it's too hard, because keep all variety of species it's quite impossible after certain event, but i believe you if you tell it's possible!
The game is awesome!! I loved the graphics and the sounds... and the whole idea. I liked the "tribesmen" language, Google translator went crazy!! :D
Loved the game overall. Game play wise, I was frustrated with two things. It was often difficult to select a particular critter for breeding, and time is a big deal in this game. Also, it's very hard to maintain trait diversity, or to expand back out after a certain trait has been wiped out.
Amazing game. Simple concept, but I enjoyed playing it.
The sound and graphics are very good, too.
Holy crap this is awesome. Love the audio. Cute graphics. Love the gameplay. Not sure yet if I can actually maintain the diversity I need to survive many rounds... could be my poor planning, or you could need to tweak that. Also there seems to be an occasional bug where you don't see both monsters highlighted when selected. I appreciate very much that you didn't force there to be male monsters and female monsters... no reason to enforce gender stereotypes, and you did not. Nice work!!!
Really good, love the concept and the art. Only thing that wasn't great was when they walked off the bottom of the screen at times so I couldn't see if they had short legs, but other than that I really enjoyed the game!.
I love the vaguely suggestive monster noises. Of all the games I have played this best fit the theme. I couldn't make it past the big teeth challenge. If the game were turn based as opposed to time limit it might be easier to figure out.
All my tribe died of water melon? XD
I found some bugs, i could create a new generation just selecting just one, and so on haha
It's funny to see how after randomize the tribes and disasters are new :D
Everything about this game is very well put together. The challenges quickly become very difficult, indeed. It seems it is absolutely essential that you maintain at least some diversity in your tribe, since some traits are impossible to breed without it. A list of suggestions that would make the game more accessible, however, would be: Show a small version of the mixture chart, in the background maybe, or have a way to bring it up. Maybe consider showing a preview of what the next challenge will entail, so you can prepare better (since right now it's too easy to get a dead-end through no fault of your own), and maybe differentiate the legs and arms a bit more (The different stages of teeth and fur are very easy to identify, but for arms and legs, it's a lot harder).
Despite those minor issues, this is one of the best games I've played, and it is spot on with the theme. :)
A nice job but there needs to be some tweaks in the gameplay to allow for a diverse population. You breed to get through the round and then the disaster kills off the rest. Eventually you get to a monoculture which then go extinct. More variation plus the ability to breed in several rounds before a natural disaster happens would go a long way.
It's well-polished and overall very good. I wish the polish was more in the gameplay department, though. It takes way too long to click on the next couple after you choose one. It would be annoying even without a timer!
Also, the genetics aren't entirely realistic or intuitive. L + M = S? I guess something has to, since I just lost all my S's...
As it is, this game seems Tetris-like in that, at some point, the player's death is assured.
Don't limit the number of couples that can be in the breeding tent, lose the timer and instead limit the number of offspring and you've got yourself a great game ;)
lovely graphics and a great game overall. it would be good to introduce a chance of random mutation, because I ended up with three identical creatures that could only make more exactly like themselves ... the next even that they weren't suited to wiped them all out ;)
