by onehappygiant - 48 Hour Compo Entry

EVOLVES! is all about evolving the fastest.

Destroy your enemies to evolve. Become the first to reach the ultimate evolution to win.

WASD to move. Arrow keys to shoot.

The game is loosely based on an old StarCraft custom map called Evolves. I dumbed down the gameplay a lot and made it very fast-paced and action-packed.

First time using FlashPunk. Didn't have the whole 48 hours to work, but picked a short, simple game to complete with what little time I did have.

If I had more time, I would've added music, better notifications for what's going on during the game, and integrated the background into the action somehow.

A How to play description would be nice, it took me a few seconds to figure out how to play. But other then that it was super fun :D

Thanks! I can't believe I forgot that, actually. I'll add that post-LD. :)

Good gameplay, I really like to use arrows to shoot! Did you get this idea from another game or just come up for this one?

Awesomely retro! Great fun.

As some of the other comments have said, it needs a how-to or manual or something. Gameplay isn't too bad, I ended up playing a few times.

solid but very confusing!

I so desperately wanted to use them mouse to aim, probably because I was getting destroyed though. Overall a good retro shooter, felt nice and solid to play.

The mouse is a great idea. That will be improvement #1 in the post compo version. Thanks for playing!

Cool stuff! I totally dig how frantic the whole experience is :-) AI is a bit too hard to keep up with + the game could use a multiplayer mode—that would be the only two suggestions from me :-)

fast, hard and fun game - just as I like it.
took me several attempts to get it right though. the very first time I didn't even understand what was going on ^^
nicely done

Extremely frantic, but decently fun once you get what's going on. The AI is pretty rough however, tried twice, can't keep up with their skills haha.

Short but sweet!

Dave says: Simple but lots of fun. Only thing is it's a bit too fast to start. Maybe add a count down to when the game will begin? Just so the player is not in the middle of it without knowing.

Fast, simple and fun. I really like this game. cool graphic art style. sound is OK but I liked gameplay the most. Add multiplayer and you will have great game.

Yea the sound could be much better, but it's not my strongest area. Multiplayer would be awesome! Adding it to the to do list. Thanks for playing!
