by kirill - 48 Hour Compo Entry

Can you adapt to the ever changing environment and avoid getting spotted by the hungry bird?

Carefully chose which goodies you eat - your appearance depends on your diet.

* a beetle (player)
* a bird (enemy)
* a flood
* variable difficulty
* menu system

It's a fun "action-puzzle" color-matching game. I hope you enjoy playing it :)

PS. Though I am very happy about how the gameplay turned out, I want to apologize in advance for the lack of music/sound effects and the unfinished Victory/Defeat screens.

PPS. Please let me know if there are any difficulties running the game on your platform.

Tools used: Python, Pygame, pyInstaller, Photoshop, bfxr, git, Sublime Text 2, vim, zsh, tmux, iTerm2, MacOS Lion.

One of the best game concepts I've played so far. Helpful indicators, intuitive gameplay, and for some reason the bird's face just cracked me up. I couldn't really be successful on any difficulty but "egg". I had a lot of fun. Many kudos!

This is the best game I've played so far. It's really, really, really, really, really good. You've probably nailed the Evolution theme better than anyone else, the game was super fun and I laughed a bunch while playing it. Quality work.

On of the better games when it comes to the concept - fits really well to the theme!

I really enjoyed that and (as others have said) a great implementation of the theme. That image of the bug drowning was priceless. I let out quite a cackle of laughter upon seeing that the first time. Pure Ludum Dare funnies.

I like it a lot. :)

But thought that eating as more as possible gives me some points. (or maybe extra life) :)

Very original and interesting concept. I really think you did something with the theme nobody else did, so big points for that. It worked well too! Usually these color blending games get too confusing too fast, but this is very playable on every difficulty.

Wonderful concept!!!
Directly related to evolution, not like Einstein shooting the gooses ;)))

Great idea! The ever-repeating cycle makes it easy to gradually improve your survival strategy. The possibility to run off-screen was a bit confusing, I was not also able to make a relation between the food you consume and a hearth-bar (how much did I need to consume in order to survive?). I had fun, though!

had problems with the control scheme, sometimes ran off in unwanted directions. some rules are still somewhat unclear, why was i often killed by the flood despite being on land, even for longer?
