Evolution in HELL - shayl - Jam Entry

This is not only my first ever Ludum Dare entry, but it's my first time programming a game - it was great.

My idea was to create a sort of wave-based defense game, and your character is trying to work their way up the ranks of hell.

This was one of the best experiences I've had in a long time, and while I am incredibly tired, I feel like I couldn't have spent my weekend a better way than this.

    Language: AS3
    Library: Flixel
    Art: Photoshop
    Music: Free Music Archive

Object of the game: Kill demons without getting hit by the green blobs or getting pushed into the pit. If you shoot and kill enough demons you turn into a different demon.

Well this is a really good job, my first game was far from the quality of this one. You should continue to make games, there's a lot of week-end in a whole year :) Your title screen is very good, and even if the core gameplay is basic, the execution is ok ( which is very rare for a first experience )

I love your animations, my favourite is the skipping demon. A great first attempt!

Great game for your first programming experience!

The graphics are pretty good. The controls seem a little slippery though, and the hitbox on the green-missile thing feels too big. Not too much going on in terms of innovative gameplay, but it's a solid game.

Great job ! I love the music and graphics. You did really well for a first-time.
The maniability isn't perfect, though, nor collisions.

Thanks for the comments guys! This was a great learning experience. Goal for my next one is to expand on the simplistic gameplay.

I like the mood you have going on. I think mood was a hard thing to tackle for most submissions and your entry is refreshing. nice work.

Good reuse of art assets. One of the great things about Ludum Dare is that you learn to make the most of what little time and resources you have. I hope you join us next time.

This is great! For first time programming very impressive. With some more polish, this could be a great full game. Loved the art work btw!
