Go Robot Go!

by stevesefchick - 48 Hour Compo Entry

Blow up lots of bad guys and evolve your robot with better guns, legs, and armor!

When starting this entry, I threw out a couple of ideas that although I thought were good, were probably going to be done by some others. I decided to go with something a little out of place for this competition: ROBOTS!
By using an upgrade system, I utilized the "Evolution" theme, while making something that I thought was fun!
Anyway, I hope you enjoy!

Made using Flashpunk!

Fun! It seemed really easy and slowly developing, until it got REALLY hard. Also, developments to your robot are not real noticeable, and there's not a whole lot of choice in how you develop/what you collect.

At the end of the day you're still just sweeping along the bottom spamming shoot and dodging bullets.

Kind of reminds me of a Touhou game~

Nice game but after awhile it seemed to get repetitive. Maybe boss battles could break up the levels?

Enjoyed the game. Yes it did get a bit repetitive after a bit, but I think you are on to a good concept here, so great start!

That's a cute robot, but this takes too long to get going.

it got really hard - good stuff
there are too few games of this sort - I really liked to see new enemies popping up constantly

The sounds were pretty good, and the graphics were not bad either!

I found the game to be a bit repetitive, though. Maybe you should make the upgrades increase a bit faster, and at the same time make the game harder by making the enemies shoot more or something.

Thanks for the game anyway!

Fun game!
This one has been well reviewed. I'll just say that I like the graphics; they look very "clean."

If you clean up the repetitiveness, especially regarding the sound effects, this game could be very popular, I think.

Solid game, I had a lot of fun playing it. Things got intense when I got the double fire upgrade. At that point, things were too busy to aim and dodge any more, so I just held down space while moving left to right collecting the pieces of my fallen enemies.

My only qualm is that the items would sometimes land in a position where they were unable to be obtained, on the edges of the screen.

Ha, great idea! It's really fun grabbing all the junk and seeing your stats rise.

Really solid game all around, fun gameplay and decent graphics and music as well. Visually the game is a bit hectic - this isn't necessarily a bad thing, but it does make it hard to tell what's going on at times. Overall, I think the difficulty is a bit too easy - even the health pick ups are super generous - it's fun but without the necessary challenge its hard to find motivation to keep playing.
