August 24th-27th 2012 :: Theme: Evolution
Well here its, my game finished just a half hour before the deadline.
And not in the standard I would have hoped but nevertheless its fun and I`ll improve it after the Ludum Dare.
Side Note: It got pointed out to me thats it says made for LD23 at the end if this is through, its a mistake This game was made in 48hrs for ld24!
Controls:
Menu : Arrow Keys
Game : W and S
Information : Your goal is to pick up all the people floating around in liferings, the more you get the fancier a vessel you`re given.
Remember to watch out for those pesky sharks though steer into them and one of your precious lives will be taken away. And unlike kittens you only start with 5 lives so be careful.
Collect those smiling, spinning coins to add to your money , save up enough and you`ll be able to afford some of the Health Pickups which spawn to the Sides of the map!
Hope you guys enjoy :)

The first time I played, I didn't read the instructions and thought I was meant to _avoid_ the floating people. Oops.
I played again, trying to collect them - that makes the game much more challenging.
I enjoyed the game, especially the music.
I'm with the others in that it doesn't fit the theme - zooming along in a boat thing from sharks != evolution. evolving from boat to boat doesn't make sense, it looks like a powerup if anything.
Kind of short. Controls are wonky. Graphics could use a bit better work. Evolving from boat to boat? I didn't even notice. But at least you put forth a good effort. Maybe next time :D
Confused by the controls. Why are the main screen and in-game using different controls? There is also a crosshair in game which seems not to do anything. I didn't see the evolution theme anywhere in this.
Ah. Reread. I didn't realize the red circles were good. The coins looked obviously good but I was trying to avoid the red circles.
Yes, crosshair does not do anything yet as I said I will continue to develop this game outside of the ludum dare compo!
This game is addictive! The art assets look nice and the music is pleasant. I was confused at the switch between arrow keys and WASD between the menu and the Main Game, although this is probably my fault for not reading help first xD I can clearly see the evolving from boat to boat as part of the theme. However, I found an odd glitch. After hitting enough sharks to put my health bar to zero, I didn't die, but I died after hitting a health powerup! Kinda odd.
The music is pretty good, but the game is kinda pointless. What's the point in making my ship bigger? What's the money for? Dodging the sharks is pretty easy.
The audio is really cool, it is a good idea, the graphics were simple yet... I wouldn't change them when you will continue the work on that game, they somehow fit the environment :)
For now, unfortunately it is an unfinished game, however keep up the good work, and I would lower the volume of the music, I got scared in the first moments of the game :P
Really liked the song, but not so much the game.. Evolve in another boat should change the gameplay aswell, and i can't understand why title screen use different buttons of the real game!
It is a good game as far as it has graphics, gameplay, controls, music and it's hard enough.
But it's a little short (once learned kinda easy) and the theme is except from the title not existing, because velocity, controls, music - short: everything - keeps the same (ok, some graphics change).
The error of LD23 does not matter, and it's still fun to play! Keep on going, games are fun!
good start, I think you could make it into something great with some more time and polish! I personally didn't like the music, but thats just a personal thing

Liked it - nice idea and good implementation. It does get a bit repetitive.
