Tiny Toy

by Meedoc - 48 Hour Compo Entry

Here is my entry for this Ludum Dare 23! This time I tried to do something understandable. I think I reached this objective, but let me know if I didn't!

I'm sorry for the quality of the texts, I'll try to improve this point if I have time before the deadline!

It's a simple game which don't need extra explanation (I hope).

P.S. : if you're a programmer don't look at the source or you'll have an heart attack!

P.S. 2 : I made a little game in extra on the theme, you can play it here even if it's not related to the ludum dare compo : http://racine.meedoc.net/Selfishness/

Well...If you tried to make something fully understandable, I think you failed...but I'm pretty sure you didn't ^^
I'm not sure I understood how to beat the ennemy, but...that's not very important after all! I had some fun, the music fits perfectly and I love the whole mood of the game...this "I don't understand shit but I love what I am playing anyway" mood.

At least, I managed to finish this one ^^

Very "très" WTF ! But very interesting. I'd really like to try to anticipate the turns :)
I think it's your more understandable game for the LD :D

Same as pierrec, I had some fun but I don't thing I understood anything. Reminds me of rock paper scissor with 4 stuff but with just colors it's confusing to get how each works with one other, maybe objects, elements whatever would have made it simple. It still gets you until the end !

@Pierec, you're so cut! You always have a kind word!

@Pitoum the fact is you can. By using Game Theory, you can predict what will be the choice of the IA.

This stupid IA only produce the more profitable unit. That means, it calculated from the displayed parameter which unit as the most chance to bring in the most.

@BlackDogg, the balance of strenght is displayed at the top as well as the weak point of each units. But it's my fault if players do not find the information. Next time I'll do a better interface ^^

Not as easy as it seems, couldn't beat the machine. great AI I guess ;)
Too bad we can't skip text to retry quickly ! Plus the game fights are slow so It does not make player want to play again and again.
Graphics are... well I can't give you a good score for that sorry !
Music and sounds are ok.
Gameplay is interesting, balancing forces/costs/speed of the game is really tricky !
Fully playable, I mostly enjoyed it.
Good work there !

Well, maybe because it wasn't my first time trying it, I understand what I have to do. So here I go :

Negative points :
Too much text in my opinions...And you can't pass them when you play again!
I believe that the IA is a quite a difficulte thing to do : In my test, whenever I hit the B button, it always respond with the D color.A little frustration
I can't see exactly if I really win agains my opponent. In facts, at the end of the game, I don't feel as I have achieved to win the game. It's maybe what you wanted ?

Positive points :
Simple control : Click!
I like the idea of the world goes tinier and tinier!(is it really related to what I'm doing ? :) )
I enjoy the sound, very soft music and trashy sound for the particules, remember me the gameboy sound.
I find the "graphics" well adapted for the game

Last point : I enjoyed it anyway!

Good work and response at the theme!

@Lythom & Angerus Indeed, I should have had a skip button but I didn't think people will replay the game ^^

@Angerus, yep winning or losing was not the purpose. The gameplay is just a distracting way to picture my point described on the end screen.

@Lythom, Angerus & boorik Thanks for your feedback!

Nice music and mood. I wasn't able to understand the mechanics but won by pure chance.

Very mysterious and intriguing. Not a great game but I somehow did enjoy it as an experience.

Sorry, still didn't get it. It may just be me being thick. I learnt a similar thing with my game, that what may be obvious to your way of thinking is very different than for others. At least it looked nice, and I could understand the story!

Challenge completed !
I'll pass your happy birthday to Simon ;)
It's not quite easy to understand what does what, and if we understand what we do, but.. I won.. and I read the ultimate message of this game, that's important, right ?

At first I was like: Dafuq am I playing? But then I got it and had some fun with it. Cool entry.

Cool game, i liked the end, but it's pretty weird to play though. It's hard to understand what is happening once you choose one of the buttons, and how you can influence the game in order to win.

original and conceptual. Game Jam exists for game like this :) Try to make it more understandable and it could be liked. Nice music!
