April 20th-23rd 2012 :: 10 Year Anniversary! :: Theme: Tiny World
Orbiter is a game.
The planet rotates, enemies spawn around it, and the buildings YOU placed are defending it.
So yeah, a tower-defense basically.
PLZ READ:
I encourage you to play through to day 10. The first 5 or so are simple. It starts to progress logically around here. I couldn't figure out how to get around it.
CONTROLS:
Mouse:
Left mouse - Place unit
Right mouse - Start round, when prompted
Middle mouse - Rotate planet (note: not necessary to play game, just a neat debug thing, for the gears in the center, I left in)
Move mouse over unit - Shows information about the unit
Scroll wheel - Change selected unit
NOTE: If you don't have a middle mouse button, don't sweat it: UP and DOWN arrow keys do the same as the scroll wheel.
Thanks for playing, and happy 10th anniversary. Good luck.

Fun little game you have there! It's simple, yet fun and not at all what I expected... although I think it lacks a little variety and is way to easy. Loved the cogs!
I like the Rotation Tower Defense System (aka. 'RTDS' xD) you implemented in this game. Nice game.
Neat game. Bit slow starting and going and it isn't exactly too challenging but the style of the game meshes really well.
It has a lot of potential but I got too bored to continue after day 14. It's very easy.
Really nice spin on the tower-defence genre! The sound, graphics and effects fits together nicely. Great game!
Nice, but I got through the whole game with a planet made of turrets! Could use a little more enemy variety, maybe enemies that can't be hurt by turrets? (with another weapon type)
A pretty easy tower defense game - loved the humour in the backstory though. :)
Awesome game! The different defences. turrets were really cool.
What this game really wins on is the excellent execution. It doesn't try to be more than it is, but does so with elegance. The retro graphics and audio betray the depth of gameplay. I exaggerate the latter only slightly, but it's a very nice production given the time frame.
Triple thumbs.
A different tower-defence game. Congratulations!
I like the choice for monocromatic objects: too much old-style! ;)
Only flaw: is a bit too easy! :/
Pretty cool!
I made the mistake of slapping down too many shields at first, making it actually rather difficult. So, you could easily make a more challenging game by reducing the starting cash.
I like the clockwork graphics. Towards the end, though, I had so many turrets that the planet was starting to look like some kind of microbe. :)
Nice game. I would love to see some form of player control through the active level so you're not left there watching turrets which would up the gameplay a bit. Still, a well presented game with some replay potential after some post dare coding. I was looking forward to more than credits in the ending but hey, only 48 hours, great stuff!
The graphics are really nice, it's really fun to watch your planet covered with turrets moving in sync, shooting stuff down.
The sounds didn't work for me! D:
The concept is cool but the game is just way too easy. You actually don't need to build anything but DUM turrets. It's still pretty fun though. :D
Balancing a game like this is really hard, and I definitely commend you for going for this type of thing though.
Overall this is a pretty good game! :D
It's a shame I can't play this on my mac. :C
Also looks like you forgot to upload the source!
The source is in the zip file. Sorry.
Thanks for the comments everyone! I'd like to respond to each of them right now but i can't! I'll play all of your games when I get the chance.
The idea is very cool and I love the simple "retro" graphic style. The downside is that the game is extremely easy, if you tuned the difficulty a bit it would be great. I would also prefer if I could interact with the game during the fight, repairing and stuff, although the lack of this interaction may not be what you intended for your game and I don't consider it a bad thing being the case.
The chaos in the final levels is really enjoyable and was my favorite part of the game.
Creative spin on the TD genre. Not a big fan of the the genre (probably why I thought it was a bit slow) but still an interesting game.
really neat and polished. I almost kind of wish you had gone with a vector-y look for this :0
Wow, this is an awesome twist on tower defense, I got past day 25 and enjoyed maxing out my defenses. This is the best entry I've played yet!
Good job on the coding. Given that it's rather tower defense-esque, I'd like to have more info on what types of enemies are in the wave, ranges on turrets, etc.
Loved everything about this except how easy it was. I need a macho mode please
Really like this. For a TD game, it's oddly soothing and hypnotic. I'd love something to show me the progression of time through the day ie. how much time left before next day.
I liked the spinny tower defense concept and the pew pew pew sounds. As others have mentioned, I found it easy enough to just plop a bunch of turrets around the planet and then just sit back for a couple of minutes. It didn't seem like there was much challenge beyond that. So, maybe if some the other entities introduced/needed earlier in the game, then I think there would be something.
The brightly colored look to it is pretty cool, too. I could see that being awesome with a bloom filter applied to it.
Really great visual style. I liked your sound effects as well. The game was a bit easy, but also a bit addicting. All it needs is a bit more variety (in weapon types, enemies types, etc), but I think you've got something really great here!
Before launching the first wave I said to myself "if those gears start spinning I'm giving it a 5/5". And they did! (I really really like games and have made some gear demos but anyways...). It's a really nice spin (see what i did there?) on tower defense-like games. Graphics are nice and smooth and overall it's pretty balanced. Add a gear-y satellite and I'll give you 10/5

Pretty easy (though I love tower defence games, so maybe that varies by person) but very good game! Nice implementation of theme with the genre :D
