April 20th-23rd 2012 :: 10 Year Anniversary! :: Theme: Tiny World
Defend your tiny world, Urth, from an onslaught of nuclear missiles. Featuring an extra small game area intended to make the game more frantic and to give a feeling of claustrophobia.
Collect power-ups to assist you in your mission. Blast those missiles out of the sky!
Controls: Arrow keys to move. Tap or hold Space to shoot.
If you survive, your score is multiplied by the number of lives you have remaining. If you shoot down all 100 missiles and collect all 5 bonuses, you have played a perfect game and will receive the maximum score possible (1000 points). Leave your highest score in the comments.
Good luck!

I thought this a fun little game, cool stuff. controls were a bit off but not bad. I would probably say that the music could have been improved,(just not a big fan of midi), and the graphics could have been tweaked, but overall cool stuff.
@DoktorAce, except for the audio, it worked pretty well in WINE for me.
Interesting idea, well executed. Very small, and the game seems quite hard at first. It wasn't clear what the + icons did when you picked them up.
It was quite hard, and maybe a bigger screen would have been more fun. Funny game though.
A great use of the theme! It reminds us that we all should protect our world; it may be seem huge, but it is tiny thinking that all resources are connected.
Thanks for the feedback everyone!
@karnakgames: I'm glad someone picked up on the message behind the game. This piece was intended to provoke thought and encourage positive change, after all.
It's a fun little game, I found the controls a little fiddly (spent more time flying into asteroid than shooting them... probably just me being rubbish at games :p)
Nice take on the genre! Rather difficult too, which isn't necessarily a bad thing.
Nice music! I think it would have been easier if the enemies were a bit wider as you had to get the angle just right to shoot them.
I thought the game was fun, but a bit too easy when fully upgraded.
Fun game, although the screen it's a little too tiny! But well, it's supposed to be a TINY world, isn't it? ;)
It was a solid entry. I could only get 4 though. I seemed to just lose lives randomly for no reason :/
I agree with the thoughts that the screen size is slightly too small, but the music and sound effects were really cool.
Nice little game.
The weapon upgrades (what I assume the + are) don't seem to do anything. The concurrently incoming enemies are tough.
Good move to make it actually difficult to stay in the center, the enemies are easier to hit from the side.
@DaveDobson @edg3 @Endurion
The + icons are the upgrades. There are 4 upgrade levels. The first is simply a faster rate of fire, which you will probably only notice if you hold down space instead of tapping it. The second upgrade onwards is where it starts getting crazy.
If you get hit or Urth gets hit, you lose a life and go back one level of upgrade. If you keep losing lives, it might look like the + doesn't do much.
Very nice little game. I liked that when you died you were thrown right back into the action. Maybe the missiles could have been made a litte bit bigger, or the ship a bit smaller? Oh, and the claustrophobic feel really adds to the mood.
One important point though: You cannot use music made with wolfram tunes. Their terms of use prohibits the distribution of content generated by the site. Yeah, it sucks:
"You may not modify, copy, distribute, transmit, display, perform, reproduce, publish, license, create derivative works from, transfer, or sell any information or content obtained from this Site"
Cheers!
Addictive, kept on retrying and kept on failing! Great game!
Certainly frantic, controls were quite tricky. But a fun little game, did quite like that it was itself tiny.
Pretty challenging game! Controlling the ship was a bit awkward, it would be more intuitive in this sort of game to have a "thrust" that propels you forward the longer you hold it, rather than just a constant speed that you can increase or decrease. But, the way you had it works too, it's just a bit more frustrating. ;) I liked the use of the tiny window, definitely made the game more difficult.
I got 141 points :)
I don't know if it was a bug but '+' signs had no effect the first time I played the game, the second time they gave me a triple shot.
Not very different from asteroids with a tiny world in the middle but it was fun.
Thanks for all the comments everyone. I really appreciate it.

I got 700!
At first I thought it was very difficult, but then the 2nd time I won quite easily. Once you get the weapon upgrades (especially the 2nd) it becomes a bit too easy. The game itself is well-rounded, but nothing really stands out: the enemies could be more interesting, the music doesn't really fit, there could be a bit more work on the graphics, and I'm not really fond of the control scheme.
