April 20th-23rd 2012 :: 10 Year Anniversary! :: Theme: Tiny World
This is kind of a mix of an explorer platformer and missile command.
Arrows to move, Space to enter/exit space mode, X to fire missiles.
Wish I could add more strategic elements, but I'm happy with the result anyways.
Enjoy!

Cool little game. Nice genre-mixing. Though its not obvious at start why should I shoot aliens, since they continue to spawn rather fast, but I guess it just matter of tweaking of balance. Sometimes blasts could make level unbeatable, destroying the path.
Good job overall!
Now that's innovation! A really genious blend of two different games. I love the alien missiles blowing holes in the world you're running around in, connecting the two game parts.
Well done!
This is fantastic. Best game I've played so far! Way to go!
Love it ! I really felt like the earth was under attack and only *I* could actually do something about it :)
Really liked the two different viewpoints to the world. Nice one!
I really liked the way it blends the two areas together. At first I just thought the planet could only take a few hits before exploding, but once I left the turret I realised what was happening. It gets pretty frantic between turrets as the enemies spawn so fast, but otherwise it's good fun.
This is the first above average game I've played. Great concept, great gameplay. Super. Smashing. Great.
I didn't initially get that I had to leave the missile station to avoid incoming projectiles. I like the mixed gameplay quite a bit but a mini-status or mini-map between modes might be nice. Great game!
Nice blending of two very different genre. And graphics are really cool.
I'm inspired by the mix of the two modes.
I did get stuck a couple times when the holes in the landscape made sheer cliffs (mostly at the first hill-cave) and I didn't want to wait around for more bombs to smooth things out.
I think there's definitely some potential in this idea. Great job!
I really loved the art style, especially the colours. they all compliment each other really well. Nicely presented and good audio too.
Overall, great job! I had a lot of fun!
Pixel-perfect collisions, 2 games in 1, awesome art <3
As it has already been said i love how both *games* really blend together. And it's the first game i have played so far where the music really adds some mood. Nice sound effects as well. Really fun game !
The combination is brilliant. I couldn't figure out whether shooting ships is influential on the bombardment.
Definitely a fun game, though the path did get somewhat wrecked. Loved the ending, wish it was always that way in real life. Oh, wait, we have not been invaded yet...
This is a really neat game, I like how invader bullets in space actually affect the platformer section!
Just awesome. Loved the mixing of genres and the destructible terrain.
Sweet and short (in a good way). Interesting and nice colors and pretty graphics in general. Good job!
Wow. This game is so epic. Definitely one of my favourites for this Ludum Dare. Great job!
Really cool design. Got really hectic when the meteors were falling and I was rushing to the next missile station.
Very cool idea, could be fleshed out to have tougher platformer elements.
Really cool how you've got the two sides of the game going on. One of the best I've played so far.
I got a big enough hole sometimes that stopped me from going forward. I'd hide down in the cave and hope it leveled out but no luck. Pretty fun game though. Shooting the missiles was fun. I really liked the music.
That's a really good mix, it's fun and feels fresh! I liked that the aliens are actually destroying the game world, making it harder to move.
I found myself coming back at this again, after voting and playing. Super great, very entertaining. Increased some stars this time!
Really great game! I loved that you have the different views. The music and sound effects was good!
playing something on two scales is a interesting experience. I enjoyed it a lot - possibly one of the best concepts and a solid game as well
good job :)
Now this has to be my favorite so far. I love freeform platformers. For some reason, this reminded me of Dino Run. I suppose it had something to do with the similar palette and art style. Really awesome game, dude.
Lots of fun! On its own, the runaway & missile shooting would be sub-par games, but putting them together creates something that's awesome! The "warning" noise when you're about to get hit in the "real world" was a really nice touch, too.
A memorable, moody little game. Just wish there was more of it.
This one is definitely of my favourites! great progression, great gameplay with awesome pixel collision, and a chilling ambient music gave it a nice feel overall! great job for only 48 hours!
This is fun, and challenging in the right sort of way. When I was killed and had to restart, it felt like my mistake, something I could have done better. I really like the interaction between the two games, and the way they both play at the same time. There doesn't seem to be an obvious way to lose the missile defence section, but how well you do affects the difficulty of the exploration section. The destructible terrain is a nice effect, although it got me in a situation where I couldn't climb out of the first brown cave, because a hole had been blown in the cliff so it became an overhang I couldn't jump over. Graphics are simple but really effective, same goes for the sound. Well done!
Marvelous entry! I really loved the combination between the two game modes and how the effect of the attacks were visible in the platforming world, that was great ^^ also the destructible terrain, very impressive feat for an LD game :)
Cool game you got there, dude!
That was pretty damn cool. Loved the tense mood and sense of urgency. And having to balance between rushing to the mountain and stopping to defend. Excellent game, mate.
Wow, particle orgy! Really fun to play, great visuals, very good controls... just a really nice game overall! I actually love to just watch the scenery get destroyed... :)
Excellent piece! I could wish for more elements and longer game, but I hope I'll get it it postcompo version ;)
Hard Mode: Complete the game without using the turrets - DONE
Super Hard Mode: Get to the control center and then get back to the start again - TOO HARD FOR ME
One of my favs for this LD overall, this game is awesome! It actually makes you want to go back and play it again once you finish it.
Sfx, graphics, mood, fun & innovation are all great.
My only crits are that a few more enemies would have been cool (perhaps faster spacecraft which shoot lazers, less terrain destruction but something else to think about)
Theres really some potential there for a variety of earth smashing enemies.
I would have also have liked the end mountain to have been destructible as well, just to add to the stress of that final bit (which I thought was a bit easy), the mountain could have perhaps been made out of slightly stronger material, but not indestructible.
A good game all round though, really enjoyed this one!
The randomness of the asteroids made for a varying difficulty (other people seemed to have the path cut off, whereas I felt there could have been more asteroids), but the overall experience - evading the asteroids as a vulnerable human, rushing for cover, and striking back - and the way the gameplay modes were blended together, was very enjoyable. Well done!
Favourite game so far. For some reason I felt it necessary to try and beat it without using any of the battlestations. Took me nearly an hour, partially because I've got a crappy 1024x600 resolution screen, so didn't exactly get a lot of notice from above when I was about to get splattered.
Super Hard Mode: Get to the control center and then get back to the start again DONE
Anyone else up for the challenge?
Very good game, right at the start of the game I died and the text in the game over screen built up the whole mood for me, and gave me motivation XD I liked the concept!
This is a really cool concept. Only annoying thing was that the missiles would block the path and I would essentially have to restart the game (or wait a long time.)
Many stars for you
Great game. Very intense except at the end where the rock is actually indestructible.
What a good idea! I love the graphics. I didn't find much in terms of gameplay since I can run pretty quickly to the stations, launch a few rockets, and the fact that the ground is deformed didn't play into it for me. But I had a lot of fun anyway. Good music, too!
First time I had the same problem as gremlin, but second time played through completely - such a great use of mixing the two genres to create tension! I was really racing to get to that last computer!
Loved it. The explosions was especially beautiful, and I love the idea that what is happening on the whole (scaled out) directly effects the specific (scaled in). Great game!
Got stuck the first time but made it the second time! Great idea and lovely terrain style!
This is actually really cool. It's the kind of game that gets you thinking about new kinds of games to make.
The problem I had was that I wasn't sure what I should be doing. I mean, I sit at one of the "battle stations" and shoot down every enemy ship, so surely I'm winning the war? I didn't feel like I had to continue on to the "mountain", and when I tried, I died...
Oh wow, this is perfect. Like you already said, it would be cool if you added more strategic elements or variety, but this is amazing for 48 hours of work. Well done.
Very cool! I loved how the spaceships shooting missiles in space mode corresponded to land mode! Though is there an end, or did I just not play it long enough?
Oh and what program did you use to make the music? Sounds great!
Thanks a lot for all the comments!
kylerhoades, nice! I have got to the end without using the stations, but back was too hard!
AD-Edge, I see what you're saying about the end mountain. The problem was that it quickly became impossible to finish when it got destroyed. Making it almost indestructible (or just parts of it) might be a good solution.
Chaoseed, that's a good point! Maybe the stations should run out of ammo after a while, so that you are forced to move on.
RobProductions, thanks! I used Reason for the music.
rvmook, awesome, thanks!
That was beautiful! Interesting mix of mechanics, really felt like my peaceful homeworld was under bombardment. Great gameplay and atmosphere!
I really loved this! The mad dash between control panels was heaps of fun, and really frantic!
Awesome work ^_^
Great idea, like others I got stuck because of the terrain for a bit... but that's what I get for not defending the planet properly like I'm supposed to =D
I really liked how the two different games were merged together, it added a lot of tension. Normally when a planet is bombarded by space aliens, you only notice it by some health bar. But now you're in the middle of it :D

good game! I love the possibility to look the CPU and see where the asteroids will fall!
i like it :)
