April 20th-23rd 2012 :: 10 Year Anniversary! :: Theme: Tiny World
Description:
You control Chtulhu, a tiny creature that needs to get fed in order to retrieve his powers. The more humans you kill, the more you get powerful, and GROW!
The game has no end. Enemies will spawn randomly and the world has no limit. The only aim is fun.
In fact this game should count as a LD48 entry because I made it in 48H but I didn't see the submitting form... so i wrote an article... Anyway I didn't participate to win but to train myself so it doesn't matter. It was my first participation to LD =)
I used Java, Eclipse and Gimp.
Thanks to ra4king for letting me use his server.

Hey, it's really neat, I'd like to see this as a finished product after the contest.
WTF it sticks the window in the top of the screen and cuts the bottom part (with the hero in it presumably) off?
Any idea what might've caused that?
Cool game, but it didn't really fit 'Tiny World', in my opinion.
MadGnomeGamer can you show a screenshot of your problem? I've tested the game on linux and windows several times and I didn't see something you describe. I would like to understand what's going on.
Endless killing games are always fun! never played chtulhu before :)
I liked the concept and I think you got the theme in a good way.
Through the continuous growth of the player character this game gives you an impressive feeling of super-human power.
I would have liked some more interactivity and a proper ending. But nice theme-interpretation: when you are huge, the world becomes tiny. Funny to see those tiny mortals trying to stop a Grat Old One.
Wonderfully silly! A good improvement would be a choice of attack - space mash hurts my thumb. Nice going!
***I'm posting this on all non-browser games I bring up in an attempt to encourage folks to make browser games next time around. Do not take it personally.***
When hundreds of people make non-browser games, that means that, to play all of the entries, I would need to download hundreds of games to my computer. I typically use OS X, so Windows-only entries are particularly inconvenient.
Please consider making a browser game next time.
Not bad for a beginner. The game would really have benefited from some sound effects. I didn't even realize I was being killed.
Yeah I made some sound effects with SFXR but I didn't have enough time to understand how sound work with Java. I'm new to Java programming so I had to learn a lot during these 48 hours.
hahaah, it was fun, really. needs more polish though. It's quite nice for being your first LD. Congratulations.
Awesome concept! Too bad my Cthulhu stopped growing after sometime... I really wish he was able to fill all the screen with his foot!
Good work. =)
Hahaha this is an awesome idea. It's a great job for a beginner, and now you have a platform to add things to, like different kinds of enemies, powerups, jumping, the works. Awesome job.
This is some self-advertising, but you might consider using the free Java hosting I offer at http://StaticVoidGames.com. I'm working on adding game development tutorials to the site, and we'd love to have you!

Has good potential! keep going.
