Thanks for playing! Yes we agree. The plan was to have the ants drag the food back, and to have multiple sizes of food with varying rewards, for a bit of strategy/interesting choice.
Nice graphics and environment, good game. I would be awesome if you could expand to have more anthills over a larger area.
i really really wish there was a unity plugin for linux machines. this looks like fun.
Nice game. The shadows really add to the mood, and the concept brought back great memories of SimAnt.
Nice scene for the anthill. The gameplay progressed well, though it wasn't clear why or when my ants were dying. Maybe a different sound effect would've helped? The little bits of food were a nice goal, but I really wanted my ants to carry them back to the colony instead of wandering all the way out to the grass.
Nice game. Really nice graphics and creepy music! I'd like to see a little more variation in the gameplay, but it's great for a jam game!
Audio and graphics were great. And the game was fun... for a while. A little bit of variety and this would be a great mobile game.
Cool idea, fun waned pretty quickly though. Some ideas, between rounds the world rotates to another ant hole (a different entrance to the same hive?). Each round has different obstacles for the ants to move around. Food could continue to fall during the round forcing you to choose between attacking and foraging. This would be fun on a touch screen. ~Shaun
Oh man, that subtle cricket soundtrack started giving me the creeps when I finally noticed it. Along with the music. Great visual style, and I really felt like a queen ant, sending out my workers to do my bidding. GO MY CREATURES! BRING ME FOOD TO FEED MY CHILDREN!
I really liked the mood and feel of this. Would love to see this expanded into a strategy game.
Nice game, but could have a extra strategy factor. Also, the menu doesn't actually fit with the silent mood of the graphics
Nice job. I love the perspective and lighting you chose for the scene. I too wasn't very sure why my ants died when the did, but that first playthrough was great even just for the atmosphere.
The game lacked in variety and maybe was a bit too difficult (or I just suck) but nonetheless, nice concept, well-made and fairly fun game :D!
Nice concept and cool realization. I like the view angle ! Difficulty progressed too slowly and felt really easy ( quit at wave 11, dunno if there's an end ). Was getting more interesting by wave 10 though.
Having some stronger ennemies like soldier ants, and spitting ants could make the game really interesting. The world of ants is fascinating and I'm sure there's way to make a fantastic game out of this.
I liked it, but, of course it was really repetitive. I wasn't sure at the end if my ants were just getting stuck on my ant-hill and dying (it didn't seem any enemies were nearby..?) or if I misunderstood the way the ant lives worked.
Pretty cool though!
Echoing the above: Awesome graphics, gameplay needs some work. This would be an awesome candidate for some post-compo love!
At first I wasn't all over the gameplay or idea, but when I got to the Round 2 (and got more than 10 ants or so), the idea of an Army of Ants seemed really awesome. Good job!
Got to level 13, very promising !
I d say :
- It becomes unbeatable at some point, you should make an end at some point..
- Upgrade of ants !
- Different type of ants ?
Very fun! I like the view perspective and the tone of the game. Has a lot of potential to expand from.
Pleasant graphics and sound but gameplay gets repetitive quick. Still, I can see how this could turn into a really cool time management game!
Looks very promising. For gameplay I didn't really see an evolvement. My ants didn't die and it got repetitive really quickly. Grats on the nice graphics and matching sounds though!
Good game but I agree with @Chtulhu. Also, the music should be a little more emotional, or at least more instruments and faster pace, to give the game some color.
The gameplay was nice and simple but deaths seemed random at times and deaths seemed consistent (sending two ants against one seemed to result in a casualty sometimes). The game would have been a bit better if more time was spent on being able to send different ants out or to have multiple enemy ant types.
Not bad, fun micro-RTS game. I thought the music really contributed to the atmosphere of fireant gloom, but at the same time the UI really took me out of the atmosphere. Maybe some sort of graphical treatment for ants remaining would have worked better? Feel-wise, I thought it was odd that ants would continue streaming out as I held the button down. Maybe that comes into play at higher levels of the game but as I only played a few games (getting to round 3, I think) it made me waste ants. One other thing I noticed is that sometimes ants auto-engaged when enemies were close but other times they didn't. I wish there was some way to visualize when that would happen. Overall, I liked it and I had fun making the tradeoff of "one ant... or two ants..."
Good job.
nice concept, fits well with the theme. the soundtrack does a 70% of the Mood I enjoyed it too much
A good start, but it didnt feel like I had any goals. creepy music :)
Fantastic mood and top marks for graphics you guys! I loved this
I'm not sure why, but this was pretty addicting and managed to really suck me in even though it was so simple. The mood was really well done (I thought the crickets were real at first), and with the added features you were talking about, this would be a really great game.

Good game but a little something is missing to improve the gameplay.
