Angle Isle is my second Ludum Dare entry. The game was coded in Flash Builder with Actionscript using the Flixel engine. Each tiny land mass was assembled in Tiled Map Editor. The music was written in MML using Textmate.
If Apple approves the iPhone version in time for the judging, I'll update the links.

This game reminds me a bit of tiny wings.
I like these color choices and the diagonals look quite nice and new.
I think the mechanic works well but it would be even more fun if you could glide on regular jumps and not just between level areas.

Tight controls. Love the diagonal visuals. No extra hassle and you know how the play and what to do right away. iPhone material. First it was easy and then maybe got too hard too fast. Very nice!
nice platformer :) I got 91% of all of the little gems. the platforming controls felt nice, although there were one or two difficult spots. overall its was very enjoyable.

Heh, it took me five minutes of playing to spot the fruit, which was frustrating, but once I knew what I was looking for it was great :)

Nice job - not often you see a platformer with a "flap to fly" jump system. I like it. Graphics and sound are awesome. I feel it lacked a bit in fun though :P It was also a little confusing having infinite flaps when travelling between islands, but only 4 when on the island.
Also reminded me of Tiny wings :)

Very distinctive look. Overall it's a cute platform, but it doesn't fit with the theme that much. Good job though, the game itself is neat and polished!

@keely - I've got that feeling too during my (limited) play testing. I considered adding more levels, but I wanted the world to feel tiny. :)
@cirolve - Nice. Go for 100% ! Or finish without dying. (Should add a leaderboard in the post-dare version.)
@wibblymat - Good feedback. It needs something to make it more obvious. (Fruit wiggle?)
@aaronsnoswell - Agreed. The flapping between levels should feel different. Perhaps a "soaring" mechanic/animation when changing levels.
@matheus23 @the8donut - Yeah. I was going for a tiny world/isle that is populated with tiny land masses. (Some of them REALLY tiny.) I'll update the game description too.
This is an awesome little game :) I got 98% of the fruit and the one I missed should have been easy to grab but I got caught in the wind which carried me to the next island before I could eat it! The ending seemed kind of sad though ... does the little bird try to fly off in search of new lands but instead finds nothing, runs out of energy, falls into the ocean and drowns?! :(

Neat, although the one fruit at the start of a stage is nasty, when you can only grab it during the transfer phase ;)
very innovative art for the background scene. The game was fun to play..liked flying from platforms to platforms...though i felt i cudnt fly at some points, just dropped down..?
2:48 and 87% It was very fun and relaxing to play, but it personally didn't like the graphics. I just don't like the look of pixelated diagonal lines.
I liked the graphics and the idea of the wind carring you. But sometimes the wind doesn't blow or something like that and I couldn't do anything else then die 3-4 times then it appears again.. don't know if it's a bug or if i'm missing something..
Nice, I too seem to have gotten the bug where the winds don't appear until the second time through a level. As a result I died at the end of each level and had to play through again for the winds to appear. Neat little aesthetic. Took a few levels to break my platformer jump instincts. ~Shaun
Awesome game! Love the art style. Simple and clean. Cleared in 3:30 with 100% fruit collection!
I started to worry that the game was infinitely long after a while.
Damn, loved the minimalistic and consistent graphics! The game is quite charming, and the controls aren't half bad, I like the flying mechanic, I definitely see it working on a mobile phone :) good job!
This was really great. I think some parallax scrolling would really put it over the top as a platformer :)
This is one of my favorites so far. Really nice simple concept, gently balanced difficulty curve, cute graphics and nicely polished.
Cute, slightly repeative though, the graphics were really nice though and I liked how everything including the bird was angled.
Great gameplay mechanic, now you just need to expand on this and you've got a great game.

Even though this seemed very complete I thought it could do with a tad more gameplay. Other than that it was fantastic all around. Good graphics, sound & movement. Great work!
P.S. Reading through the comments I came up with a suggestion: You could perhaps hold space to soar inbetween the levels rather than tap like normal.

Fun game, easy to play and understand.
I absolutely love the flapping mechanic and the level design. The only thing I'd really change would be to remove the gems on the "upper path" on the island that splits into two near the end of the game. It feels so much cleaner to jump straight into the updraft from the underside than to have to progress all the way back to that area's start island so I can jump back onto the top route.
By the way, my best 100% time is 2:16
I take back what I said about the two paths area, I found a neat trick to avoid backtracking through there :)

It was a lovely platform game, but I fail to see the connection with the theme.
You got surprisingly much out of minimal gameplay elements. Still, I'd like to see you expand on the concept.

Very nice entry. I loved the graphical style and the bird's walk animation. Very polished and complete entry.
It's funny, as I was playing this game I felt like the wing flapping mechanic was completely innovative, but then I realized that ninja games have used double-jumps for ages now... it's just that they aren't little birds flapping their wings, four times per jump only. The fact that it's used more as a way to simulate flight than as supernatural martial prowess is, I think, where this game has its real innovation.
The art style and music are wonderful. The mechanics are addictive. I can't see any relation to the theme, unfortunately.
I love challenging games and to me, a lake of difficulty. But, your game is soooo cute and it was fun to play!

Fun game! Kind of easy, but just because as not having a visible score, I didn't care too much about getting all the fruits. There was this "jump to jump" platform, in which you have to follow certain rythim to reach it... was challenging, I liked that one! Oh, and the visuals are a unique pixelart variant, really nice.

This is the perfect 48h game. Simple and fun, completely polished from beginning to end. Awesome work. I like the music, reminds me of old gameboy games. And for some reason, the SWOOOOOOSH areas were extra fun, felt like a nice end cap on each little "stage"
Very nice game, although I couldn't figure why sometimes I can flap three, sometimes four times when not in 'windy' areas. It's a fun, great game, and the music is especially awesome.
I really like the music and graphics. Gameplay is fun, and the central mechanic is easy to pick up. The ending was a little abrupt, but otherwise a solid game :)
I liked this. Reminded me of the island levels from Wonder Boy. (That's Japanese for "Adventure Island")
I didn't actually figure out that the fruit enabled the wind until about three islands in. At that point, I started to wonder about something, and I'm still wondering. I don't think it's possible to finish the game without dying. Is it?
Anyway, this is definitely ripe for an iOS port, as Mike the robotophile indicated.
Despite the lack of an interface to explain everything, I found it was still relatively straight-forward figuring everything out the hard way. I was only a couple levels in when I made the connection between the wind and the fruit. The graphical style is very cool and the gameplay is smooth and straightforward.
Woo hoo! Got stuck in one area for a while, but after a lot of swears I got by. Good length game for LD.

Great game. I enjoyed playing this so much. changing the colors and style of the tiles every few isles would add a sense of accomplishment.
