"You need the August 2008 DirectX update in order to run this application...."

I didn't bother updating, so it's possible this is my fault. But I purchased my computer after 2008. Window 7, 32 bit.

lol, Pretty strange game. It really didn't need the sound effect for when a asteroid was being generated, Music was good tho. Apart from that good work.

@dansludumdare Do you have a recent version of DirectX? I believe the button that shows up just points you to the DirctX website. Most computers don't come packaged with DirectX, mine didn't (a month old or so now) But you don't need to download the 2008 version, the newest one should work.

I won't even try - my comp is older, circa 2006.

managed to play through the first level before my virus software quarantined the files.

I just downloaded and scanned the files with Avast Internet Security (up to date) and it returned no threat found.

No virus warnings or anything here. Technically solid. Gameplay was a little frustrating though - dots that couldn't be retrieved, powerups that weren't onscreen long enough to get. Controls felt a little oversensitive.

You know what?! that awful sound and eye bleeding graphics kept me playing :))
The winning sound is even more awful (but in a good way)

Not bad, but it seemed like some coins were just impossible to get, and the sound effect was kind of annoying. But I do like the online scoreboard.

Weird game :)

Works fine, however the random positioning mostly ends up in unsolvable stages (too many pips appearing on the lower border without platforms below)

Interesting concept! I kept trying to avoid the red splotchies until I realized they made it easier to win!

The SFX were painful to be honest. The controls were good. Great effort!

I wasn't really able to play this as the controls were laggy by a second or more. The game ran fine, just the controls were laggy. So I'll not rate it!

Interesting menu. Sound effects were annoying. Except for the times when levels were unbeatable, this was pretty good.

Really weird game. The sound played when the asteroid was being created made me cringe. I had to turn my sound off to even play the game. That sound was literally painful for me. :/ Interesting that you're generating levels though. :) That is different than what most people do.

It was cool that you procedurally generated the levels. At least it's new each time. That said, the gameplay was lacking and the sound effects were pretty abrasive. Good effort - keep it up!

Kinda strange, it's too unpolished to give a fair rating, the physics really sucked. Would've need a double jump at least and less power in the jump, the title screen didn't look that nice, the text with white background gave an ugly contrast to the rest of the screen. The game would probably have been a lot better if you had a day more to work out the problems, it does have potential, just needs more polish.

Sandcrawler says ...
May 2, 2012 @ 1:44pm

Double jump would have made it to easy to complete the level, I wanted to have the controls tricky so that there would be a challenge in catching the powerups, and landing on the platforms. With double jump you would be able to change jump direction, making it easy to land on the platforms.

The game would have been better if the theme had been more inspiring to me. I was more or less finished with it after the first 24 hours, after that time nothing really changed.

Won't gonna lie to you. Graphics could be... better. But sound is good and gameplay is fun, but needs improvements! Keep up the good work!

- It's a weird game and the music makes it feel more random xD
I like the ugly face of the main character :)
Graphics look intentionally weird/ugly... if it wasn't intentional, I'm sorry xD

- You used the python music generator someone uploaded here, didn't you? :P

- I'd suggest automatically redirecting to another world instead of going to the main menu every time the player goes off the screen.

- The scoreboard is a good detail. I like seeing my name there :D

Sandcrawler says ...
May 4, 2012 @ 3:15am

@Oye Beto You got it on the graphics/music/sounds. I wanted to make something that was overly weird, odd, but still appealing in some ways.

I did use the python script uploaded here, I think I mentioned it in my "I'm In" post. I'm not really sure what to call it, other than python music script.

I think the reason I didn't have the player go into the next world was because of the difficulty of the different worlds. The cool colors are easier worlds/more platforms generated, where as the warm colors are harder (fewer platforms, the red planet only generates 4 platforms) But I could have it go to the next harder planet if you collect all of the pips, or the next easier if you fall off.

I'm glad you like the scoreboard. I had one in my last entry (LD22) but you had to push the submit button, and most people never did. So this time I decided to have it automatically submit the score. I like it because it gives me an idea as to how many plays the game has had. Currently 172 levels have been played. I wish I had thought and added a few other statistics to the scoreboard, such as average score, total plays, and a few others on a per planet basis.

Can you make a Mac version?

Sandcrawler says ...
May 8, 2012 @ 4:51pm

@demonpants No mac version sorry. I don't have a mac to test on. Construct Classic only outputs for Windows, but I think I could get it to work on WINE by removing the music and sound effects (music and sound uses windows stuff) I don't have a Linux environment running right now to test it. Hopefully I can get one set up this summer.
