Tiny is a mouse who is exploring. But he explores the world from his perspective; a tiny one.

This is the first game I have ever finished, and my first ever entry to Ludum Dare. I hope you enjoy it, and I'll improve on my next game with the feedback you give me :)

I really liked the music. However, the game runs at about 13 frames per second on my computer, so the levels took a long time to complete. The stomping foot doesn't specifically target the mouse it seems, so just standing in a corner is enough to finish at least the first two levels.

Looks and sounds quite nice. The gameplay was a bit too limited for me, though.

The music was great! Overall, I think this is a good idea but it needs more variety in the execution.

The gameplay seemed pretty basic, and wasn't particularly challenging until level 3 where the extra foot and the addition of mouse traps actually made it quite entertaining. The levels were all longer than they should have been, I thought.

The deadly foot was an amusing enemy, but could've been made more interesting. As it is, the player has no real warning to get out of the way, and the foot is just fast enough that I couldn't move to safety before I got flattened. Perhaps have it move a lot faster, but give the player a quick warning about where it's about to drop (like a shadow on the ground)?

I would've preferred if the mouse traps or the extra foot were introduced in level 2, as well as having some more interesting ground-level enemies to encounter across all the levels (other mice, for instance?).

I hope all that doesn't sound too negative! I did genuinely find myself enjoying the game, especially during the last level when it became challenging.

I had intentions on adding a few more enemies, such as hawks and stuff outside. However, I ran out of time for adding new things and I had to focus on removing the bugs. And by the way, it's not negative, it's constructive criticism ;)

And as for Mac users, I was working on a version which would be easy to use on a Mac, but the submission edit closed and I couldn't add it, sorry :(

Loved the music, but the gameplay is a bit slow-paced. Might have been because of the FPS being pretty low (around 20 during the game)?

Also I found that if I was under the middle of the foot when it started to descend, there wasn't enough time to get out of the way - even if I was already moving at the time. Maybe either make the foot slightly slower or show some kind of warning before it comes down.

Yeah, I was also going to get a sound to play just before it came onto the screen, but it's just another thing I didn't have time for :(

I liked it, and the fact that there were quite a few alternative story lines helped. I loved the dialog, it appealed to my sense of humour.

One thing I can say is for some of the sound effects I got drawn out of the story because they ended abruptly, whereas a smoother transition out for them stopping would prevent that.

The music was really nice, and the sound effects didnt put me off, I agree that the slow feel was slightly offputting (I got 14~ FPS).

All in all I feel it is quite solid, nicely done.

Nice idea. Waaaay too slow though, particularly with the length of the levels. Felt like it took forever to get to the end.

***I'm posting this on all non-browser games I bring up in an attempt to encourage folks to make browser games next time around. Do not take it personally.***

When hundreds of people make non-browser games, that means that, to play all of the entries, I would need to download hundreds of games to my computer. I typically use OS X, so Windows-only entries are particularly inconvenient.

Please consider making a browser game next time.

i know it's a bit extra work on your side, but can't you provide an .exe? considering the amount of games in this LD that one should/wants to rate, one wants to run a game as fast as possible, and if i have to get extra stuff + installing it, it just takes too long :(
i'm on windows, and even with your install.txt, i'd rather not install anything and go on to the next game :(

MurrayL pretty much said everything I could think of.. Level start sound effects were a bit offputting. Your code was really clean and well organised? I could read it pretty well even though I don't know much python.

Don't have pygame installed (that's my fault). Note that it doesn't run on linux at all if you leave the apostrophe in.

I really wanted to see this game, and I have Python, but I don't have PyGame installed - and really couldn't bring myself to do it just to play one game, but would love to play it if you get an exe version.

I didn't even know I had PyGame. I'm at 7 fps. Don't use PyGame! Well, do what you like, but there doesn't seem to be a PyGame game out there that's not ultra slow on my computer.

Sound was really good, but the frame rate was stuck at around 8 which doesn't seem that good, but the game looked fine at that speed. As for game play is seemed pretty basic, you need something to spice it up :D

tried to run the game, but oddly enough, even after installing pygame, the game would still tell me it couln'd find pygame (found that kinda odd, and I'm guessing you can't do much to help me there)

Unfortunately the game refused to run. I do have Python, and I installed PyGame. When I used idlelib.PyShell to execute the main file and hit f5 to run the game, Idle complained at me that I don't have PyGame.

I'd advise you to find a way to conjure an EXE out of it - You really don't want your players to need to jump through hoops.

This wouldn't run for me. I'd a see a DOS window pop up and then immediately close down. After a while of waiting I checked the task manager to see whether Python or some other process related to the game was running, but I didn't find anything.

By looking at the comments it looks like I need PyGame, which I really couldn't be bothered with right now.

Pleased to see there was a linux binary, tested it out on Ubuntu 11.04. Running with 25fps, not bad, but could be more for a simple game.

The art was programmer's art, so I won't judge that.

What I liked: The calm mood in which you play, long relaxing levels which you can play with one hand. Very fun to just mindlessly play while you are in class or some sort.

What I didn't like: The movement, seemed to 'static'. Really slow 'gravity' etc...

Overal, a worthy addition to LD!

The low framerate really made this hard to enjoy for me. One thing I did notice in my time with it though is that the jump's rise and fall go at a constant speed. Jumps usually feel a lot better if the movement is more of a parabola.

Nice, though pacing was very slow. Liked the menus in general.

Also, it has been mentioned, but lack of a simple exe was also annoying. Had to install python, and pygame, and muck around with environment variables to get it working, which I'm guessing most people will not bother doing.

As I struggled with low FPS, I could not help thinking that pyglet or pysfml might have been a better fit for this game. I appreciated the music after having played so many games that were much poorer audio-wise! Congrats on having a mostly finished idea!

Pretty fun! I liked the cloud graphics, and the uncertainty as to where the foot was going to step next. The levels did drag on a little long, though... And perhaps having a variety of "enemies" (rather than just one foot) would help as well! Good music!

The music was nice. The framerate was slow and choppy. I think it would be much more interesting if the emphasis was less on making the levels really long and more on introducing new elements or combinations thereof each new level, gradually increasing the challenge.
