I like the "super crate box" weapon-switching mechanic, though the game needs a health bar or something, I kept dying without any clue of what's going on
@smvilar Thanks for pointing out the die thing.. I forgot to mention you die when an alien gets to your cave. so you can collide with them all you want :) a little different from SCB
great graphics but I didn't know that you could shoot or that you died when they got to you cave. Instructions would be nice.
There are a couple of slowdowns now and then, but good game, nice job!
Fun game! Good looking graphics, many different weapons.
It was kind of ironic that the heavy weapons like the rocket launcher and flame gun (?) were the worst, and the knife the best, as you can kill many at once with it.
The jumping was a little floaty, some more air control wouldn't hurt since it's not exactly a realistic game anyways. :)
Hahaha the random shouts! The only thing i missed was health. The weapon system was really cool. <3 the bazooka
That was a lot of fun. I concur with the post above about needing some preliminary instructions, but it was definitely fun to play.
Nice art! it's quite hard to figure out what to do, but overall good job!
The game was fun, but what kept happening to me is that I died because of things outside of my control. (The location of the spaceship, the weapons I got, and especially, where the monoliths dropped) If the monolith drops in a location behind the spaceship, there seems to be nothing you can do.
It got a bit repetitive after a while, but the graphics were cool and I liked the story (cavemen defending his cave from aliens)
Fun. Funny.
I tend to lose when the next monolith is really far from my cave.
Fun idea. The flatness of the level makes the monoliths further from the cave really dangerous to go for, which is interesting
Its too bad all the weapons are pretty much doing the same thing. I wish the mortar aimed up and that you could eventually beat the spaceship.
A health bar would have been nice, just walking on top of the ennemies while waiting for the weapon to reload is not very challenging.
@blob you're right I was aiming to have much more variety in weapons and gameplay but I just didn't have enough time.
Controls are a little floaty and unresponsive at times, but it was fun to play. Gets a little hard to kill everything if you get a weak weapon, but I liked the layout and moving UFO (just a shame you can't blow it up).
Funny and cute! Lovely graphics and good palate. The only thing I wish was different were the sound effects (they grated on my ears a bit after a couple of playthroughs).
Loved the flamethrower and rocket launcher. Who would have thought! The monolith-changing-weapons idea was also pretty original, which really helped make it stand out for me.
I'd like to see a version of this with lots more weapons for every part of history!
The setting is hilarious, and it was pretty fun. It is a bit like Super Crate Box, except more horizontal, and the spawn moves. :) There's also a different condition for losing.
Liked it from the moment i saw floating islands. Then there was caveman with gun, the most common type. Also monoliths.
Great graphics! I love to switch the weapon...
Is the end of the game when i get the fourth monolith?!
@Lidfrid the game ends either when you fall or when an alien gets to your cave on the left.
LOL WHY IS THIS HAPPENING?! I love the absurdity of the entire thing... hilarious. Good job!
What an original idea! the only disapointment was watching some aliens jumping too soon and falling down... hehe
This game is freaking awesome. I love the idea, and I love how the monoliths give you new weapons XD I liked the graphics a lot too.
I loled with the monolite thing and it instandly reminded me super crate box. Nice mix of a great game and a great movie.
Love the crazy long name! Neat game play, although it gets a little repetitive after a while. I like the different weapons they spice it up a bit.
Fun game, but I needed to read the comments to understand why I was dying. Well done :)
Cute! I didn't quite get what was happening at first (didn't read, x.x), but the game was fun. :D
This is great. I like the whole concept but the controls are a little clumsy.
Interesting, although it wasn't immediately obvious that the game ended because the aliens got to the cave. I just thought that that the collisions were messed up.
That's pretty good! I like hopping from island to island like that.
Hard game, but I like all the different weapons. The art looks nice and polished too. I thought the character was just a little hard to control.
Didn't realize I could touch the enemies without dying my first attempt but after I realized that I was able to make it a bit further. I loved the weapon switching mechanic too.
Funny! I didn't understand what I was supposed to do at first, but then I remembered the title. The chief challenge seems to be preparing for the sword, since it is really bad at catching up to enemies, and when the monolith is at far right you're at great risk of dying. Eventually it got repetitive, though.
Hi-score: 9 monoliths.
Best game title ever!
And it explains the game so well :)
Also the game is quite fun good work.
I really loved the idea for this game! It is absolutely wonderful when the game forces me to make the trade off for a potentially worse weapon to get a monolith and increase my score.
Also, I thought the wand as you pointed out (with magic!) was a roman candle xD
The weapon system is cool and shooting aliens is fun. Death seemed a little confusing and random until I read the title :). Having some warning about nearby aliens would be nice. The way the game is set up now eventually aliens spawn to quickly and you just have to spam fire until they move away from your house.
The collision box was a bit large. I died several time when I thought I was in the clear. Nice little game though. Liked the idea alot :)
update: I added details about the gameplay in the notes section, hope it helps people having problems understanding what's going on :D
Good idea the monolith to upgrade your weapon, a weird mix of aliens and caveman, but the fun is there :)
Highest score: 19 monoliths. Then I got bored with it.
You should have had the sword/knife be a femur though. :)
Pretty solid gameplay! Really fun! Although the caveman looks like an Ewok to me ;)
Nice concept. It could do with more interaction with the aliens to mix it up a bit, but the start of a cool game for sure.

Got to 6 monoliths then lost because I didn't know you had to stop the aliens getting to the cave. Good game other than that! Was a little hard to understand what to do at first but that could just be me needing more caffiene. One thing I would have liked to see is perhaps an arrow pointing to the next monolith location. Hilarious title and great work!
You could work on your naming sense ;). Nice game, liked the weapon mechanic. Could use some music though :)
fun to play
very good graphics
theme fits
I love the 2001: a space odyssey reference
--> great game, nice job!
Nicely done. It's polished, fun, and addictive. The variety of weapons made it fun to replay.
It took me a sec to figure out how the game ended, but once I figured it out it made sense. Sometimes I wish I could keep the previous weapon rather than switching once I got a new monolith. The sword was the best since it could swing a lot faster than the gun or rocket launcher could fire.
All in all, a really fun game. Especially for a weekend of dev.
Yeah, that was pretty great!
I enjoyed the strategy involved in deciding whether to hack my way through aliens to get another monolith or to stand back and defend my home. Giving me decisions like that that actually matter to the outcome of the game is what makes this stand out.
Sometimes the controls went a bit wonky when I jumped - you could cover this up by pretending it gets really windy up there? Cute little game, I rather enjoyed it. I mean, cavemen shooting fireballs!
Fun and difficult! Love the weapons! I died mostly because of my clumpsyness at jumping sometimes. Art is good too. Good job! Seems fit for a mobile device!
Why is this so fun?! :D Anyhoo, I think the only thing I'd like to see different are the alien graphics...they don't quite seem to "fit" the rest of the art style. Could just be me though... Great entry! Thanks for sharing!
Pretty fun (for a few mins), but I noticed some random slowdowns.
Loved it. Though I would have liked some splash on the rocket launcher, and a jaunty tune would not have gone amiss. Still, very nice.
Quite fun, took me a while to figure out that aliens getting to the cave would kill me but nice idea.
Sir, I represent the estate of Stanely Kubrik and you're screwed!
It was pretty interesting. Would have been incredible if each monolith actually made your weapon superior or gave you speed and other abilities.
(Can't say enough how I liked the name of the game. Haha.)
top marks (and loved the Verbose Edition). Music was awesome, mood was awesome, it's fun, it fits the theme, what else is there to say!

That was fun! Loved the weapon switching, although I think some minor issue related to collision detection made me die arbitrarily a couple of times :P Good job!
