On a tiny planet, far far away. Blue really hates Red.
BTML (Buggy, Tank, Missile Launcher) is a RTS game that takes place on a small, round planet. You expand your base by adding modules and floors to your flat. This allows you to construct units. You attack and defend by placing units on one of the 3 lanes. The enemy has learned this as well, so watch out, you might meet him on the battlefield!
Warning: The game is quite hard :).
Hint1: Build a factory to build units
Hint2: You can add floors to your building by pressing the + button at the top of your screen. MORE MODULES :)!
Hint3: Long range units can shoot past your short range units.
Hint4: Use upgrades!
Hint5: Don't give up, it is beatable! Make the blues proud!

Update: Bug Fixed where labels did not show up, be careful boys and girls, GL calls are a tricky thing in Unity :).

Hi guys, talked on IRC, add your link below so I can review your games ;)
Alright, here's my game: http://www.ludumdare.com/compo/ludum-dare-23/?action=preview&uid=5874
Wow, this was amazing! Graphics looked *really* good, darn your unity pro? :D Great fun, especially when you can actually tell how much money you have ;) It's hard, but awesome fun, good job!
The art is incredible. The only things that I didn't like were that it was difficult to see what was coming at me and that I couldn't see how well I was doing without scrolling a lot. Also, it wasn't clear what some of the upgrades did at first. Maybe tooltips would help. Fun game.
Wow, that was really tough. Very original and innovative. I've never seen a game to compare this to. The graphics were excellent and the audio was very appropriate.
The side to side scrolling of the window wasn't intuitive to me for some reason and was frustrating to have to discover. I lost thoroughly before I found out what was killing me. I still lost thoroughly once I knew... but at least I had purpose!
Overall, to me, because of the difficulty, the game wasn't fun. I think it could definitely be fun with a more gentle introduction and I think your concept is fantastic and has a lot of potential. I'd love to play a post-compo version.
My game if you wanna try it: http://www.ludumdare.com/compo/ludum-dare-23/?action=preview&uid=5044
This is a really good entry! My only complaint being that it never lasted long enough for me to really play with the upgrades, or even use more than the first module of the second floor! :P
The option to pause, or go back to the main menu would ahve been nice, but makes no real difference.
Overall, this is a really good game, well done!

I want to add that I didn't feel it was terribly difficult. I lost the very first try, but i was just figuring out the mechanics. Since then I've won without really having to go into mass production.
I found that an easy win can be achieved by first getting an extra income module, then a factory. send a buggy down all 6 paths, make a quick check to see if any thing is coming (if it is, send a tank down that one too), build another income mod, get the 2nd floor, checking for incoming every 15 seconds or so. By the time Ive unlocked the second floor, i've usually won!
Best graphics in the whole LD! A very well polished game. I like how you even did the UI nicely too. Sounds were great as well.
I beat it and got victory :) It was easier once I got a fair bit of income.
Really fun game, well done!

Great stuff -- would have like keyboard control for panning the world, and a mini map. Appreciate this is only a weekend's work though so the latter is obviously unreasonable to expect.
Strongest aspect was probably the RTS/TD hybrid -- works really well. Could totally see this being iterated on into something pretty fun.
I also did something with resource management and such like, though for a completely different kind of game -- it's here -- http://www.ludumdare.com/compo/ludum-dare-23/?action=preview&uid=7693
Yes, it was hard. :) Looks are extremely nice though and plays pretty good too. Easier rotation of the world and maybe a minimap would have made it easier for me. And perhaps a little more cash at the beginning to get started. Otherwise, top notch!
As requested, feel free to try out my entry here: http://www.ludumdare.com/compo/ludum-dare-23/?action=preview&uid=608
Simply one word: A W E S O M E!!!! The graphics, the gameplay and the sound.
(well, I wrote eleven :P)
There's not much to review and my entry is far that what a game is suposed to be but my mom likes it :D:

Really enjoyed this one! Great job with the graphics and the whole strategy factor :)
Easily one of the best games I've ever seen come out of LD. Your core idea is PHENOMENAL... and you've got a great start. Keep going! This could be HUGE if you can pull it all together just right. LOVE IT!
Game seemed like it could be absolutely amazing. My camera froze and was unable to move, but from what I did play it was really awesome. Great job!
Awesome! Both concept and content are top-notch, for sure. It's hard to believe that this much quality is the product of just 2 guys working for 72 hours O_o What could you not accomplish with simply a month of work?? :D
Congratulations!!
Thank you for all the great comments, it makes Cavit and me very happy :).
A minimap would have been so useful! And we had not even thought of using the keyboard to rotate around the planet! Funny how we missed such things, because they are so easy to implement. Thank you for the feedback.
I am going to play the LD games you all put in the comments right away :D.
Awesome graphics and quite original! I also liked the music!

incredible
the concept is just amazing - I really hope you continue working on this
Really fun!
Never won though I tried a few times; its quite hard. Could use in-game tutorial level and gentler start.
Artwork absolutely superb.
Really nice game, the only thing that annoyed me was that I couldn't rotate the view with a/d or left/right keys. Other than that, great work, awesome graphics, it felt really polished!
I really enjoyed this game. It looks awesome and has a lot of potential! You and Cavit should definitely make this game into a full minigame.
What I missed was a minimap and moving the camera using the keyboard :P
Also, you win/lose so fast that there isn't enough time to play around with floors and upgrades.
Really hard game. It lacks a proper tutorial, but wow !
Please keep improving it, it's already really nice !
Yay! I totally owned red team on level 2 :D
- Graphics are great, I see some Airmech inspiration there ;)
- You could add music on later version.
- Such a fun game, good job guys!

That is funny, I didn't know what Airmech was until you mentioned it ^^. But yeah! It looks very similar in style! Hmmm...I should go play airmech now.
Nicely done. That second level was _hard_ though, and it was really rather hard to keep track of the lanes. Maybe allow world rotation via arrow keys?
Great work! I like that tower defence like idea, fits well with the theme. Just missing a few GUI help and a background music. But overall it's pretty well done, you should work deeper on the games idea. :)
This game is fantastic! It's a bit tough in that it's hard to see the enemies. There's no real reason to have it so zoomed in. More of an angle looking down and the camera further out would make it easier to see everything. And not being able to click to build tanks while you have the build for the other menus was irritating and uneccessary. It'd also work better if you could keep upgrading your tower and get higher and higher and have endless waves of enemies coming to attack you. Anyways, I really liked this game!!!
Nice idea! Optics are pretty impressive too. Could use a bit tweaking in the gameplay-department.
Very nice graphics, well produced game. The gameplay wasn't that fun though. One problem is the limited view of the world: it would be more fun if you could actually see what's going on.

Nice work, felt like an original game :)
